The most likely outcome of this war is going to be a negotiated settlement, where the Ukrainians have to concede Crimea, Kherson, Zaporozhye and the Donbass, and the Russians have to concede Ukraine joining NATO. Everyone knows this, except for Zelenski and Putin.

I’m not saying it is categorically untrue, but there is a LOT of speculation going from what we see and what is “assumed” to be happening. The Russians can play these games across the whole northern border, the Ukrainians can’t afford to ignore these incursions, because without resistance these probing attacks can change into something more dangerous. But every time the Ukrainians send troops, they have to take them from their reserves or frontlines, and they are already being stretched to a breaking point. The Russians have recognized that the Ukrainians fight like the Germans, but unfortunately for the Ukrainians propaganda does not substitute for real victories and real losses. The Russians are not only having fewer casualties, they are winning the attritional war against Ukraine and its NATO proxy handlers.

Furthermore, with the president being in charge for the overall foreign policy, the outcome of the parliamentary elections won´t change the foreign policy directly. It is also very likely that, whichever party wins the second round and will go on to form the government and suggest the new prime minister, this party will find itself tied to pursue the same policy towards Ukraine as before. Both left and right parties are at least superficially pro EU and have to follow Brussel´s lead to some extent. If Macron also keeps involving France more and more in the conflict, the parliament will have to support him at least somewhat in order to prevent a complete collaps of these schemes and a prestige loss for France as a whole.
Unless Bardella does what he promised to the people of France, he will no longer be as popular as he now is. The anti-establishment party must prove to ots electorate that their policy is not at odds with what they promised. At least the option of sending French troops to Ukraine will be discarded.

But the Russian Federation forces are very flexible and regard losing even one life, a no-no. So, the Russians forces use elastic tactics, stretching across, and forward where the gaps appear, in such tactic reducing loses to bare minimum.
