I'm pretty sure that crabs don't feel pain from my knowledge, and that killing them by cooking them is either safer, or makes them taste better, I forgot which.
Don't watch any nature documentaries, most predators don't require the prey be dead to start eating, just disabled. I didn't make the rules for reality, they are what they are, and this is hardly the most cruel thing that happens on this planet from moment to moment.

To all of these people trying to make this a Chinese thing, I once worked for an American chain grocery store where people had no issue with ordering live lobsters, and then watching us place them in the steamer (alive). Not to mention the things the Western world does to other human beings to bring them freedom. Lol
Americans classically love acting like they’re so evolved and high class lol when they’re just as brutal to their surrounding living creatures both directly and indirectly.

@@icywolf8177 I've cooked blue crab before, and let me tell you, they do NOT die instantly. It takes some time, and they scramble for a few minutes until they slowly slow down and die.
@@tylervance0146cooking is fine, but at least end the food quickly and don’t steam them alive, just pierce the center and toss them in, much quicker and does not impact the food besides maybe the shell being a bit cracked

I don't see what the big deal is. When we have seafood boils the seafood is still alive when we put it in the pot. I guess I'm just used to it. We've been cooking seafood like that all my life.
Yeah but when you cook lobster, you drop it in hot boiling water. Not cold water that you slowly bring to boil. What's happening here is a slow and painful process for the crab. Not to mention, it's just air in their which is not a good conductor of heat and is even slower to get to a lethel temp.

I personally don’t eat crustaceans, but I was thinking the same thing, about how lobsters,shrimp and crab are prepared not only in the US, but basically worldwide. Those methods of preparation are no less cruel.

Fresh crabs must be live when cooked. So you are extremely nasty for cooking raw crabs at home. Or you simply are too stupid to know this and cook crabs at home. I bet you eat crabs at restaurants without this knowledge. You probably don’t know much of anything.
@@Endo-uu8mo no, they don’t. Many countries consider live cooking of shellfish to be animal cruelty and many chefs have taken to either freezing them or dispatching them by stabbing the brain. SOME people still do this in Europe and the US. Some people in Europe and the US still offer their daughters for arranged marriages.

Never seen this instrument used before, but that’s simply how shellfish are cooked. They’re not like beef, chicken, or pork where you can cook them and preserve the meats long after they’re killed. Generally, in order to eat shellfish, they have to be cooked alive. Otherwise, the food will go bad

If you don't approve, why watch and share it further? They cook crabs and lobsters live in every decent seafood place. Only way to ensure it's fresh. This is no different.
