⚡ E1.13 Two Year Maintenance for Honda EU7000is Generator 

Great video folks! I just bought my eu7000is last sumner. I used it yesterday for the first time to pick up my entire 1700 sq. ft. house. No issues. Ofcourse I had an electrician wire an inlet to a manual interlock to pick up my panel of 25 breakers. We were out for two interruptions but we only saw one as I decided to stay on generation for 14 hours straight. The generator performed flawlessly. I do highly recommend a fuel transfer pump made by HMC out of Iowa. I have the 30 gallon model. I was able to refuel while running without spilling a drop on 5 gallons of gasoline. Only two things I might add to the maintenance part. Add a very small dab of anti-seeze to the spark plug threads to ease removal the next time. As well as a very small dab of silicone gel inside the spark plug boot. Again to ease removal the next time. Well done though! My hat is off to you!

Hey guys you forgot on of the most important maintenance issues, adjusting the valves.

I certainly learned something about changing the fuel filter: it's best to perform this task with the gas tank almost empty!

Excellent video! Didn't know the fuel filter interval. My generator started acting up, it started surging, cutting off power and putting power on again. Before I'll take it to the dealer, I'll change the fuel filter to see if the problem goes away.

That's pretty reckless not torque-ing the cover door screw. What if it springs open in the middle of the night? 😁

Help me to understand, an air filter needs to be replaced if it is one year old and not used.

Use Amsoil 10W-30/SAE 30 4 stroke small engine oil. It’s one of the best for small air cooled engines. Amazon has it for $13.49 a Qt you may be able to find a better price if you hunt around online. I’ve been using it in all my air cooled motors for years. It really holds up to the heat these little motors can generate.

RU-vid directed me to your video when I searched for EU6500is Sediment Cup (Sediment Trap) cleaning. (1) I take it that in the EU7000is, it has been replaced by the "Fuel Filter" as shown at 23:36 ? (2) At the beginning when you said "So you don't have tooooo," was that a Joe Dirt reference? 😅

Hi, is there any way to clean the fuel tank of our generator, we use this on a food truck and had to get maintenance done within 3 months of using this brand new generator. The honda workers said there could be dirt struck in the tank and we got charged a lot for the maintenance. Any suggestions? Thanks

I have a problem with the generator, it says 120v 240v and when I turn it on it generates 126V 252V, is this common or does it have to be repaired? Might you help me? EU7000is

Where can someone buy this Shop Manual from? I own a EU7000is and it constantly is breaking down. The service costs are eating me alive and would like to do the work myself. The biggest breakdown is the inverter has gone out and they want over $1,000 to replace it. I would prefer to do the repair myself.

Why do you oil the air filter?

You guys wouldn't happen to know of any motor rebuild videos. Mine has 5k operating hours, and I'm looking to just rebuild it.

I own one of these. Great generator for sure. But they should have kept the oil fill and such on the same side as the air box. I need to unbolt it every 45 hrs from my food truck to change oil. Pain in the arse

Do not use that kind of oil use the Honda brand oil for this generator

I am sure you have learned that a copper flat washer is not the same as a sealing compression washer as used on oil plugs ,,,,,, and your oil rating --- this was difficult for me to learn until i spoke with enough mechanics and most will just say,,yeah the first number is the weight because some times kicking a dead horse just wont get it to understand,,, and that is,,,, the first number is the temperature rating it will be running in-- the lower the number- the more fluid it is, more higher number, less fluid it is and then we get to the w-30 part,,,, W- stands for weight and is connected with the little minus like sign to the following number indicating that weight,,,,,,,,,,, this is were old school meets new school,,,,,,,,,,, this is why a 5 w-30 is thinner than a 15 w-30 ,,, the fluid warms up to operating temperature and will flow faster being a 5,,,, than a 15 at the same temp. Take a day and a half and study, all my buddy s said no but a real mechanic,, and a lot of reading and learning, you will find out. ,,,, Thank you for the video and purchasing the manual. :)
