I will show you in this video how to change your front brakes on your Harley Davidson Touring Motorcycle. This was performed on a 2014 Street Glide NON ABS. Please check your bike and your service manual for the torque specs you need for your bike. I will also discuss the difference between organic brakes pads and Sintered Brake Pads. Sintered Vs Organic so you can decide which one is best for you.

Have a 2013 Tri Glide with twin front rotors. Been putting it off for some time but watched your very informative post and had the job done in 40 minutes. It was a breeze. Thankyou. Down here in new Zealand there aint a lot of choice of product. For me it was either factory Harley pads or aftermarket with $100 difference in price. No contest.

Thank you Tony! Its a breeze man. Make sure to clean up the pistons and caliper as you go...I forgot to mention that. Its weird but most squeaking comes from dirt behind the pads on the pistons. I just spray some brake dust cleaner up in there and blow it all out. You'll be good to go.

Thanks for another great video. Will you be doing a video for the abs brakes ? Mc rider has a great channel for every level rider.
@sikbaggers
@sikbaggers 6 лет назад
Thank you! Well the only difference in the ABS and no ABS is there is a clip that holds your ABS sensor wire in. Really thats about it. After you remove the caliper you can simply slide the wire out of the clip so it lets the caliper hang. The ABS sensor is actually your wheel spacer so it really has nothing to do changing the brakes pads. You just dont want that caliper pulling down on the sensor wire. And yes sir...Kevin has a great channel...I do hope some guys check it out...You can never have enough "experience" or training in my book.

Great video and love your channel!! Did my breaks about a two weeks ago, just like guy did on your video... notice that they’re starting to squeak.... any suggestions?
@sikbaggers
@sikbaggers 6 лет назад
Hey Jerry thank you man. Squeaking pads, more often than not, are caused by dirt and crap between the back of the pad and the piston. Its always a good idea to clean up the backs of the pads when changing the brakes. flush out the pistons and calipers. You can always try a product called Disk Brake Quite as well. I have never used the stuff but its an option if it continues even after cleaning the backs. HD's brake kits come with a high temp paste and template to use on the backs of your pads ...this paste helps from getting junk in there and causing the pads to squeak. HD does not sell this separately though...only comes with the purchase of the pads.

Hey Steve, I followed your instruction with great success. Thank you. Now my ABS light is blinking. I know it's probably a simple fix but I don't know what it is. Can you help me out??
@sikbaggers
@sikbaggers 4 года назад
Hey Bob...yes run the bike down the road. The ABS will not kick on until you reach over 3 or 4 mph. Use the brakes a few times as well. Also it is very common to not notice your ABS light blinking until you are really looking for it, as in right after you change your pads. All ABS systems will blink when you start the bike and then go off when you start rolling and the system engages.

Good video...but would be better if you stated that the size of the caliper retaining bolt is 10 mm (12 point), at least on my 2019 Street Glide. Raises the question, why are metric sockets necessary to work on an HD? Also, what’s a No. 5 Allen head for the pad retainer bolts? My retainer bolts are 6mm Allen?
@sikbaggers
@sikbaggers 3 года назад
hey bud this video was done on a 14....always check your service manual for the proper sizes on your bike..if you don't have a service manual and you plan on wrenching on your bike, I would highly suggest you get one. You can a pdf for free online all over the internet. And you will be shocked when I tell you your "made in the US " Harley Davidson is built in the US not made...hell your brakes are made in Italy, the engine pistons are made in Austria, the bike suspension comes from Japan, and other electronic components originate in Mexico and China. Not so American-made hence the TONS of Metric bolts on your Harley Davidson.
