Hey Kerie! Thank you so much for this video. It makes so many things clearer. With regards to Creative Fabrica, they actually have an option called Full POD license that you can use without changing. I guess as long as you're covered in writing everything should be ok. I have a question that I can't find a clear answer for: is it okay to include your website link or a squeeze page link inside your no or low content book? Or an email address?
Hey TheDotComGal Creative Fabrica do have a Full POD license but like everything before using an image check the license. As these do change from time to time. Yes you can put your link for your site or squeeze page. I have done this. Also you can add a QR code too.
My account got suspended by an error that I made not too long ago. I was wondering, but how long will my account be unsuspended? They sent me an email to send to them a following declaration and have no idea if my account will be unsuspended or be banned. If they do, how long does it usually take?
I don't know but everything will take longer at the moment as it is the time of year when everything seems to take ages as they are inundated with huge amounts of books to review during the Christmas period. They have also been cleaning up a lot of accounts, hopefully you get it back, but you must check everything.
Thank you, this was very helpful. I didn't realize we couldn't have two KDP accounts. I just deleted the other account I had because my husband has one.
Hello! First of all, thank you for all the information you provide us. Probably, if I had found them before publishing on KDP and followed them in their entirety, I would not have ended up in the situation I am in. My account was permanently closed, I don't know the reasons. I sent an email to KDP but they did not reply. In the email I received from KDP when they closed my account, it says that I violated the terms and conditions. I have no idea what exactly, because I have no experience. Can I open an account under another name, with another account and email? Do I have to change the laptop I was working on? I had read somewhere that Amazon detects if you work from the same device and from the same IP and closes your account. Do you have any idea if it is. true? Thank you in advance!
Hi, I am sorry your account has been terminated. There seems to have been a lot lately. Answer the email that they sent you asking specifically why you account was terminated. As for opening a new account, you can't that is against Amazon KDP Terms.
@@DreamCreativeBee I replied to the email and specifically asked why they closed my account. They answered evasively, only that they maintain their decision, without saying why. Thank you very much!
Im designing my journals and about to launch a KDP shop. This video is incredibly helpful. I have used my nickname (Robin Nicky) for an Etsy shop and called it Robin Nicky Treats. Can I name my KDP shop Robin Nicky Journals? I plan to niche on journals
I wouldn’t put Journals in your pen name. KDP does not like using keywords like Journals, Coloring, activities, puzzles etc. Using Robin Nicky will be fine without journals.
Hi, Question... so, I want to use say, Bookbolt Interiors. What if someone else used the same interior I want to use, but my cover is different for my Journal, Notebook, Logbook or Planner. Would that still be copyright infringement because we both have the same interior?
No because neither one of you hold the copyright for the interior, that is Bookbolt who has given you the permission to use it. I would suggest you make it different by adding embellishments etc. Then it is not duplicate content. You would own the copyright to your cover.
Thank you so much for your information. I wonder whether Amazon allows publishing both full content and low content books with one KDP account? Thank you in advance.
Hi Vick you can only have ONE KDP account. All your books whether they are full content or low content must be on the same account. To keep them different have different pen names.
Thanks for this video it was really helpful,I have an Amazon account (though not for kdp),I didn't realise that I could make my Amazon account to a kdp account so I created another account (for kdp purpose). Both accounts have the same details except different emails, pls should I be worried about it? I don't want my kdp account terminated
If they copied your cover, then you need to report them. Unless you both bought the same cover, I would suggest changing the cover. They will not ban your account but will ask you to change it or prove that you have the rights. For example the licenses to the images etc.
So I’m using my real name for my stories and I realized that my name is almost the same of another author. The author’s name is Elizabeth C. Mock and my name that I’m using is Elizabeth Carol Moock. Will that be seen as ripping a author off?
Liz that is your legal name. So no one can take that off of you. If Amazon claims you are ripping of an another authors name you just ayate it is my legal name.
@Dream Creative Bee Just uploaded few books last week, i included the size and number of pages in the title and sub title. i didn't know about this rule showing on here. But, it did pass the review without any issue. Now i cannot change the title anymore as well. Is it still a problem ?
I wouldn't worry about this as the metadata has changed again and now does not mention size and number of pages. kdp.amazon.com/en_US/help/topic/G201097560
You own work is definitely the safest, but if you purchase you images you will be fine as you are buying a license to use that artwork. If using free ones you need to check that it is fine too,
Don't worry: you never know, you may have tapped into your own unique "naive art" niche, which might become really popular! 🙂👍 Also they might be the kind of thing you might try selling on Etsy as well! (I didn't know you could sell notebooks on there - and have just found out! 😀)

@@DreamCreativeBee and what about the imprint. Do i need a imprint in a Notebook or Planner ? with High Content i know but i never published a Low Content. Merry Christmas
Hi, Kerie -- I can't believe it's not allowed to mention dimensions of my book in the details section. I put dimensions of the book once in a bulleted list in details after a brief description of the book. It seems like you'd almost have to do it. Is this really true you're not supposed to mention it once?
You can mention it in the description but not the title or the subtitle. That may change with the new not needing an ISBN for no and low content books.
Why you did not mention about Keywords and search phrases in the title, subtitle - What does it mean they not accept keywords or search phrases in the title, subtitle ?? what kind of keywords and search phrases they are talking about ?? :(
@@przemekunak7296 I am not sure what you mean? As I talk about Keyword in Title and Subtitles section 1. In this video it is about what not to do. So if you what to focus on a Fishing Log book for example. You would have that keyword in either your Title or Subtitle. But what you can't do is have: The Best Fishing Log book (Title you can not state it is the best as that is an opinion): Fishing Notebook Fishing logbook fishing planner gift (You can't use this as a subtitle because you have duplicated the word fishing and you have caused confusion because what type of book is it?) Look at KDP's own metadata kdp.amazon.com/en_US/help/topic/G201953870 Hope this helps
Great content! Very pertinent information. I'm getting ready to publish my first self-care journal but I'm just wondering if I should just go ahead and publish it in hardcover only and forget about the paperback? I think most people would prefer a journal in hardcover, I know I personally only buy hardcover journals? What's your opinion on this? Thanks a bunch!
I would publish both. I love hardcover but the price might be the determining factor for choosing a paperback. Also hardcover is not available in all countries and there can be a long wait to get the hardcover. Good luck with everything
@@DreamCreativeBee Thank you for your quick response!! I will be publishing today! One other quick question - should i use the free barcode or buy my own I know with the free you can only sell on KDP and affiliates. There is also conflicting info on KDP about barcodes - i read in some sections that barcodes are not require for low content books? I guess I can always buy a barcode at a later stage to sell outside of KDP?
@@BeBe-yg2un ISBNs are not required for Low Content Books, but if you wanted to sell wide you need a barcode but even Nielsen who is the register of ISBNs here in the U.K. states it is best to test the waters with free or no ISBN, but if you do want one later you need to make significant changes to book to be classed as a new book.
@@DreamCreativeBee ok just to clarify - even if i wanted to list it for sale outside of KDP altogether with a barcode i purchased - i would still have to make significant changes?
Hi there! This was a great video! I did come away with couple of question though. As far as keyword stuffing goes, I have heard that it is not allowed but I can't see where it says that in the KDP terms and conditions. Do you have a source for that?
Hi there, thank you for your question. While KDP never states it as Keyword stuffing if you look at their Metadata under book title, you will see that it states the following: superfluous words, and extra descriptive content. I always state check the metadata when publishing as this has been known to change. kdp.amazon.com/en_US/help/topic/G201097560
Why would you want to use a VPN. KDP does not restrict countries from using their platform. If they have terminated your account and not reinstated your account , then your time publishing on KDP is over.
@@zillionarelifestyle9098 They are risking their accounts. The only way you can have different accounts is if you have a separate business with its tax information.
They can do both. Sometimes books are allowed through but a claim for trademark can come and they ban/terminate your kdp account. They also do reviews on books published and can do it then to. So stick with the rules.
I am producing a journal and the spell check keeps correcting my spelling so it's the American version. Should I make a different book for the UK/European market?
My first book was actually blocked because the author name I chose as a pen name was the name of a British singer as well as my cover was imitating another book in the same niche and the title was very similar to another book. They are asking for the authors permission and I can't provide that obviously... they are asking for the proof to unblock the book but I can't which I have answered them. Will I be able to upload the book with the changes? Or should I not bother?
I would create a complete new cover with another name and new title. Check the names and don't use keywords either for your pen name. Write this off to experience, learn from it and move on, but be very careful with checking everything in future. You could ask KDP to remove the book completely from your dashboard and explain that you are new and learning everything and will not do it again. Make sure you only mention why they blocked your book. I am guessing it is just the name.
@@DreamCreativeBee Thank you so much for your response! They actually did outline the similarity of the cover as well as the title in their reasons. The first of which was the author name. I've asked them to please remove the book, let's see what happens.
@@DreamCreativeBee I just replied to their email telling what to do to get it back. Now it’s a waiting game. I hope they give it back or I’m going to Etsy. Lolz
Thank you again for this great information. You brought up a subject that has been in mind for a while. In #6 you mention the images we use from different sources. I use Canva. I already had published my very first 2 Easter books. I used images from many designers. Could I write that the images are a compilation of different artists in with the name of the publisher? Thank you again.
Hi Ana great to see you have got some books out already. It's a great way of making your images unique with creating a compilation from different artist so it makes a totally new image unique to your design. If you need to give attribution then I would write that in the back of your book, but if you don't have to I wouldn't do it. Hope this helps.
There were some real reaches in there. It seems like low-no content books are the biggest culprits. As for titles and pen name conflicts wouldn’t they catch that in the review process? As for quotes why can’t quotes be used if they’re properly cited?
They miss things in the original review process, but KDP often reviews accounts, and that is when they pick them up.I have been writing and creating books, publishing with KDP since 2011 and seen all the schemes that have come and gone, with lots of accounts terminated, so its best to read KDP's information carefully and follow what they say. Quotes can be used if they not the whole book and are cited properly, like in a research book or a self help book for example. You couldn't create just a quote book, some quotes are also trademarked. So you couldn't use those without special agreement from the trademark holder.
But what about *lined* - or "ruled" - notebooks? Lots of people prefer to write on lines! Me included. Surely Amazon KDP publish those? 🤔 And why DON'T they want you to put the *dimensions* of notebooks etc in your title or subtitle? Where is THIS specific information supposed to go then - because I'm sure that a LOT of people will be searching for it/using it as buying criteria! I.hope we can at least put "large notebook" or "small notebook"!.🙄
You can have lined or dot grid as they count as content. In fact there are some people that only do notebooks and nothing else. You can now also add dimension in subtitles as they have changed the meta data requirement. But all that information can be added in the description as well. It is also on the sales page provided by Amazon. You can use the terms large and small. You just can’t use the best notebook in the world. Hope that helps.
I write under a pen name, nothing that’s famous or used or a play on words, but you mention multiple accounts, can you write under different pen names under the same account? I like to write different types of things for different people, and so would like to use a different name. Or variant of the same one.
