We're reading all around the Walt Disney World resort hotels in this month's bookish vlog! From animation books to The Aeneid, there have been some great summer reads. At around 29:00 when you were showing your desk and The Grand and kitty statue it gave me cozy Mr. Rogers vibes. It made me reminiscent of trolly and his little kitty puppet. Silly I know but it made my heart warm. 💕

That river boat shot was GLORIOUS! Loved all the clips in the club 😍 The new Persuasion turned Anne into Lizzie Bennet (plus wine 🤷‍♀️) and broke the fourth wall so many times, it might as well have been a play. The choices were just too strange...Hollywood clearly doesn't understand or value quiet, gentle, sweet female characters anymore. Elizabeth Enright's Melendy Family series is so lovely 🥰 I really need to try her other books. Yessss you will love The Four Sacred Plays!! Devil to Pay is so good 😍

I love D.E. Stevenson so much. I will definitely join The Blue Sapphire readalong! That's one I haven't read yet. I haven't read Rosabelle Shaw yet either, but I know I will at some point. I love Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. It's my favorite ride at Disneyland after Peter Pan! Your garden is looking wonderful! I love reading Elizabeth Enright's book Then There Were Five in the summer. She is such a wonderful writer! I just got some of Dean Street Press's Susan Scarlett/Noel Streatfeild books in the mail. I have never read any of her adult novels, so I'm excited to try them out!

Reading at the Disney Resorts must help you emerge more into the stories. All the ambiance they provide are so amazing. Reading Much Ado About Nothing is so much fun. I love the BBC adaptation on Britbox. The playfulness between Beatrice and Benedick is so much fun! I'm looking forward to I Married Adventure. Thank you for sharing your July reads.

Is she referencing Dickens- David Copperfield maybe, in Rossabell Shaw? Also I completely agree with you on the modern adaptations of classics like a Persuasion& changing soo much then it’s no longer true to what or who or the way the characters were meant to be!! Cymbeline is soo darling 🥰 🐈

I didn't realize it when I bought the bulbs, but they totally have a gold shimmer in the sunlight, it almost looks like someone put glitter on them! 😄✨

I enjoyed this as always, Emma! I like to read mysteries on vacation-they’re usually pretty quick to get through and I’m not one to try to solve whodunnit so I consider them pretty mindless.

I love, love, love all of those Disney art books in the lounge!! So much inspiration! 😍 You may enjoy The Queens of Animation (great for non-fiction November!) It really dives into the amazing female artists at the early Disney studios, who were so often overshadowed by their male coworkers. I enjoyed it so much - although it is one of those books where the author takes some “creative liberties” to fill in the story, which I know can be hit or miss. A wonderful reading vlog, as always, made even better by the Disney resorts! 💖

I was thinking of you while reading the Disney animation books, they were gorgeous! 🎨 I think Ann read Queens of Animation for Boo to You, I've had it on my list ever since - it sounds so neat!

What a lovely vlog. I have been so behind on everything lately, I didn't even know about the read along! I will get the August book today. Cymbeline is adorable. My dog Penny has been napping on the tile floor this summer, because it is cool. However my dog Daisy refuses to even sit on the tile because it is cold. Thank you for sharing all the lovely spots at the resort with us

My go to summer read is often Kidnapped and then Catriona(the sequel) by Robert Louis Stevenson I think its one of my favourite classics, highly recommend - I'm also reading Sam the Sudden by P.G. Wodehouse and its one of my favourite books I've picked up by him

Books and Disney, how can it get better? If u want to continue with Elizabeth Enright, I recommend The Saturdays: written and set in the early 1940s, it tells the story of the four Melendy children, who have sweet adventures in NYC. In later books the family moves to the country, I think upstate NY. As to the Netflix Persuasion, I too saw the trailer and decided not too try it. Life's too short to "hate watch" something. I will say that it wouldn't bother me so much if Lydia Bennett or Maria Bertram or Mary Crawford were shown in a modern adaptation as partying or getting drunk, given that Austen shows them behaving inappropriately in the novels. But Anne Eliot? Never, never, never.

I read The Saturdays series growing up, I didn't realize it was the same author as Gone-Away! I need to pick up more of her books. ❤️ Haha, I like your point. There are Austen characters who might act like that, just not Anne Eliot!

Beautiful post! I agree with you, and decided against watching the new Persuasion. Why take away from us a quiet heroine? Quiet does not mean weak. It just makes me sad.
