In this video, I’m sharing how to trim split ends
using some really simple and easy methods I use to keep the ends of my hair healthy and in good condition.
My preferred method for trimming my hair is in twists, as it makes the process a lot quicker, easier, and straightforward to do, but you can also apply this same method without twists, so it’s totally up to you!
Feel free to check out my previous trimming video below, for more tips on what to look for when trimming.

That's exactly how do mine as well because i find it easy this way. I know they say better to blow out and even flat iron to be able to see clearly what to trim but i dont find it necessary as i barely wear my hair straight anyways. Nice to see you here sis
@HealthyAfroHair
@HealthyAfroHair 3 года назад
Hey girl ☺️👋🏾 Yeah blown out hair clearly gives a much better stretch and I was actually supposed to trim it a few weeks back when I blow dried my hair, but it never happened. But it can still be done this way too and the main thing is getting those damaged ends off. 💕

I trimmed my hair instinctively two weeks ago with hairdresser shears because the ends felt rough. I'm glad I can see I did it your way! I was wondering if I had to blow dry my hair straight first
@HealthyAfroHair
@HealthyAfroHair 3 года назад
No, you don’t have to blow it out although it’s easier when you do, because the hair is more straight. But good to hear you do it in a similar way too 👌🏾

I need to do better, mostly thought bonnet is just to help protect the hair from loosing moisture, so I sometimes sleep without my bonnet when I've no moisture in my hair, after my wash day, definitely getting a good trim and will start prioritising health over length. Please any other advice on how to reduce split ends and single strand knots, thank you

I went to a professional the first week after lockdown ended, I had a silk press, the hairdresser hardly trimmed anything off, (the opposite of scissors happy) when I came home I saw all the split ends, even tree splits, so I cut if 2 inches myself.

I trim my hair at home. I blow it out with my revair and then I trim. I trim once every 3-4 months.
@HealthyAfroHair
@HealthyAfroHair 3 года назад
Yes, it’s probably a lot easier to do it on blown out hair and that was the plan when I blow dried last month, but didn’t get round to it.

How would you trim split ends that have travelled up the hair strand?
@HealthyAfroHair
@HealthyAfroHair Год назад
That’s slightly more tricky once it goes further up. But you can always separate those strands and trim off where it splits.
@chelseaharris2781

how do you moisturize your hair, specifically your ends? I get really bad single strand knots and nothing works to moisturize my hair
@HealthyAfroHair
@HealthyAfroHair 17 дней назад
Try adding a moisturiser, followed by an oil or butter to seal the ends. Also, check whether you’re due a trim.

The most I'll do at home is the search and destroy method if I happen to see knotting or splitting a stand. I leave my trims to the professionals.

@HealthyAfroHair

Hey! So if you look at the ends of your hair and notice that the hair strands split down the middle into 2 separate strands or looks kinda like a tree branch, then that’s a good indication of it. As for the dry ends, it will just feel more coarse, wiry or rough.

@adwoamk8918

Are you washing weekly or twice a week. Your hair maybe dehydrated. You hair may not like a lot of oil, maybe try something else, aloe vera?
@HealthyAfroHair
@HealthyAfroHair 3 года назад
You’re welcome! Make sure you’re moisturising your hair with a moisturising cream and not oils, as they are not designed to hydrate the hair, but instead are used to hold/lock moisture into the hair.

I don’t really get it… what exactly are split ends, and when and why would I need to do this…?
@HealthyAfroHair
@HealthyAfroHair 2 месяца назад
So they’re little broken/damaged hairs along the hair shaft, mostly towards the ends of the hair and they split like tree branches. You would have to trim them off to keep your hair ends healthy.
