Hey Nate, I have a quick question, I currently have the Sagecom modem(still locked in w/ their original $30/month price), and don't want to lose that. However, even after splitting my network into a 2.4ghz and a separate 5ghz network myspeed is drastically worse than it used to be. Granted, when i first bought the internet I liver 6 min awsy from where I am now, I CANNOT get full bars, just 4/5. I use a gaming laptop, 2 smart TVS, and my son uses a PS5. I'm in Metairie, LA(right outside New Orleans) the signal is great here, what differences does their new modem offer? Or, should I buy a 3rd party modem and router or extender to increase my speeds? It jumps from as low ass 112 mbps to 350-ish mbps, I've even seen 600(for 6 seconds..). Any suggestions?? Thanks so much in advance.

If anything it will benefit me because I’m a $50 a month grandfathered home user that doesn’t abuse the plan by traveling. Like he was saying in the video, people that are abusing it and traveling into my area when they’re not supposed to be here are cutting into my bandwidth so this is only going to help me. I do however thing $160 is outrageous. I also think T-Mobile is wrong because even though you weren’t supposed to travel with the home plan, T-Mobile was outright telling nomads that they could do it so that’s messed up.

I have the home gateway, going on 2-3 years I think. I am full time RV but have a "home base". I told the people at the store what my plan was and no one batted an eye. I went to southern AZ a few months later and could not get the gateway to find signal. Of course, my cell phone had issues getting signal too but it was there. I ended up giving the gateway and service to my Mother-in-law to replace her $150+ "high speed" internet. Now I'm looking for another mobile option. I have been eyeing starlink but the monthly payment has kept me away. One thing that T-Mobile chart didnt show is that with starlink, you have to buy the equipment too. It aint cheap either. I guess ill check out your other videos to see if you have something that might work for me. I just need a hotspot with external antenna. Lol.

Get ready to start paying $160 a month if you still want that same service plus you will lose your 4K streaming. I however, will still have my same great high-speed service at $50 a month because I use it as intended at a fixed location. I still think T-Mobile screwed up by saying that the home service is for a fixed location, but then told people that travel they could use it with no issue and now they’re changing their tune.

Almost the exact same sinerio. Went to get daughter a new phone. They talked me into a more expensive plan so we could get her phone $400 off. At 1st, I said no, but then she said if I go to the higher plan that I could get home internet for $40 a month. I said I have home internet through cable company so I didn't need it. She then asked if I had an rv. I said yes, and she said it's perfect for rvs. So she sold me on it. 1 month later, (today) started seeing the changes to tmoble services that you see on this video. I called tmoble and was assured that it would not effect me because I am on the "preferred customer plan" and would be grandfathered in at $40 per month. We shall see. TBH, if you have a T-Mobile Hotspot ... $50 for 50GB, you aren't far off from the $160 for 200GB. Similarly, many newer plans come with hotspot plans built in. I suspect that you are somewhat correct in that the 'roaming' and removing the ability if you want to pay for it. I don't see a large scale usage on this, with the possible exception of 'there are no contracts' (i.e. some may use it for 2 months during the summer at a remote cottage or RV), and then change back to 'standard'. I truly suspect this is to not have a massive flood of '5G hot spots' at $50/month ($70) do eat the traditional hotspot items they have at ... $50/50GB. I could almost imagine anyone using a hotspot for a few months of summer while traveling/camping.

The 1.2TB a month thing just means you'll be put lower than everyone else after that amount. It's no hard speed limit or anything. I wonder how good that Assurant® Personal TechPro would be for any WiFi device on the network tech support. They might turn me down saying they don’t support smart hoses with complicated custom scripting or that since I have over 100 WiFi devices they can’t support me 😂 So I thought the regular home internet was $50 (less with autopay) so what’s is that dropping to now?

Hey Nate.. Just a quick note and question… It’s my understanding that the new TMHI ‘Plus’ plan also includes one of the new gateways as well as the WAP. If so, that’s sort of a “game changer” isn’t it.?? Especially since it’s been almost impossible to get a G4AR (or the other one). Thought I would ask since you didn’t mention it and …. I might be wrong.??
@NaterTater
@NaterTater 4 месяца назад
I wouldn't call it a game changer as its now pretty easy to get the G4AR/SE now. But perhaps that is a factor for some folks. I do mention it comes with the extra WAP and its true that is only currently supported with the G4SE I believe.
@HowRay
@HowRay 4 месяца назад
@@NaterTater Ahh...So this is more about the WAP than the gateway. I'm still unable to get a G4SE or G4AR. Local TM corp. stores do not have them in stock. Maybe they will now with the advent of this "new" plan. It seems like a decent deal especially if you're adding a 4X4 MIMO. The 'fit-up' for the antenna is so much better with the external ports. Now, the 'mobile' plan sounds ridiculously expensive. I think it just might slow down the rush to 5G HI. Maybe that's their plan..??!!??

@blank_slate50 yea, perhaps it is $10 for new customers since they recently did a $10 increase across the board. So the existing 5 mil customers on the cheaper rate like me would see a $20 increase but you're right new customers see a $10/mo delta.

I'm so glad I found your channel yesterday! Will you be trying out the new mesh offering from T-Mobile? It was just offered to me today in a chat session with a T-Mobile rep. My takeaway is: My base price would no longer be $30; it has gone up $10 for new internet subscribers with a premium voice plan ($40 for me with my Magenta Max.) So going up to the $50 for the Mesh product with auto-pay would mean paying $10 more, not $20. She waived the activation fee, although she did collect $1.01 upfront. She also offered me a $200 gift card (Master Card, I think) if I keep the service for at least 60 days. I stopped in at the T-Mobile store and online to find the $200 offer is only given if you order online and/or through chat. The store said they weren't able to waive the activation fee, either. She said the T-Mobile 15 day test drive still applies to their mesh.
