Thanks for sharing a great informative video. I am going to Phuket Via Bangkok with same airlines, but different PNR. My flight will reach to DMK at 4:30 AM and Next flight for Phuket at 8:05AM. Where I need to do my VISA? Bangkok or Phuket. If Bangkok do you think 3:30hr would be sufficient?

@sayakgupta616 You will have to clear immigration at DMK. It is not possible to board a domestic flight in Thailand without clearing immigration. About the time available, considering you do not have a fly-thru ticket, all I can say is that you do not have time to wait anywhere. If you see long immigration queues, ask the airline staff for help. Usually, they are there to help fly-thru passengers. But since both your flights are on the same airline, maybe they can help. The same goes for check-in for the Phuket flight. Those queues are usually long. Once there, before standing in the queue, ask the airline staff if they can help you with a faster check-in.

I went to Phuket last week, in the immigration counter they just took our passport and asked us for biometrics, that’s it. 1. No photo 2. No cash showed 3. No hotel booking showed 4. No flight tickets shown It was just a 1 min thing, meanwhile I went with family

@user-ic2gr3fk8x As of now, there is no clarity. Thailand has proposed a long-term bi-lateral visa-free agreement with India. But no decision so far. If that does not happen, they may extend the temporary visa-free travel up to next year. And if nothing happens, the good old visa on arrival will still be there. You may check with me again later.

@healthhub363 If they are giving 30 days entry without a visa, why would anyone want an e-visa on arrival for 15 days? And about the proof of funds, sometimes they don't ask, and sometimes they do. If they ask, then proof of funds has to be shown in cash only. It can be Thai Baht, or USD, or another popular currency.

@ramboningthoujam8681 Having hotel reservations for the entire period of stay is required. However, you can book the initial few days of stay in one voucher, and the remaining days for hotels with "pay later free cancellation" facility. These bookings can be cancelled after clearing immigration without any payment and without any loss. Both Goibibo and MakeMyTrip offer this type of hotels, and even Agoda has rooms with pay later and free cancellation option. About showing hotel bookings, it is up to the immigration officer. Sometimes they ask and sometimes they don't. But I always travel with 100% hotel bookings to show to them when they want.

@rudrenduroy2719 During my December 2023 trip, they did not ask me about funds. The immigration officer saw my passport and return ticket, nothing else. However, it is always for the immigration officer to decide. If they want, or if they get any doubt, they can demand to see funds.

@biswanathsaha2208 If you have an Indian passport, and arrive on or before May 10, 2024, you will get a visa-free entry. This is available even for transit. If you want to go to the city during the transit period, clear immigration and leave the airport. There is no need to book a hotel. If the immigration officer asks, explain that you are going out for sightseeing during the transit period and will come back to board the next flight. Just remember to return to the airport well in time because you will have to go thru departure immigration before you can board your flight to Japan.

@rajrani4269 Visa on arrival is a different channel. For Indian passport holders, visa is completely waived up to May 10, 2024. There is no need for a visa up to that date. Under the visa free policy, the maximum stay allowed is 30 days.

@DerekFuller IATA can't decide a country's visa policy. It is for the government to decide. With a US passport, you will get 30 days visa free entry to Thailand, but you need a passport with a minimum of 6 months validity. For clarifications or contact info, you may try the nearest Thai embassy or consulate or the Thai Immigration Bureau website. I can't share links here, so please Google.

@darshilshah1767 Carrying INR to Thailand is a bad idea because INR >> THB exchange rate is terrible, and you will lose a lot of money in the exchange process. Also, there is a ceiling on taking INR out of India, which is 25,000 per person. You may try to procure THB in India, if possible. See if you have Orient Exchange or BookMyForex service in your city. Otherwise, carry USD, and change after entering Thailand. About showing proof of funds, if they ask you to show money, then you will have to show cash only. Many times they don't ask, but if they do, then bank balance or cards, etc., are not accepted.

@manishjain5926 Travel insurance is not mandatory for visiting Thailand. About proof of funds, when I cleared immigration on 11 December 2023, they did not ask me. It is up to the immigration officer to decide. Sometimes, they only see your return ticket. And sometimes, if the immigration officer does not like Indian tourists, he or she may do a detailed scrutiny and ask for funds too.

@seemanandi9257 I have not seen any news, but my guess is, they will extend it. They have already extended it for Kazakhstan, and a similar announcement can be expected for India. Thailand even proposed a long-term bilateral visa free agreement with India. But as of now, can't say what time has in store.

@Twinkleinair If you are traveling before May 10th, then you have to clear immigration only, and chances are the immigration officer may not ask for hotel confirmation. Like you said, you may carry your wife's ID and passport copy. I don't know if airline crew get boarding cards, but if yes, click a picture of her boarding card. I believe that if you explain to the immigration officer that your wife was on the same flight and is waiting for you near baggage belts, they will understand.

@pardhu4894 Yes, you can show Indian currency as proof of funds, but there are two issues. One, there is a limit on how much Indian currency can be carried out of India. I think it can't be more than Rs. 25,000 per person. And two, Indian currency gets poor value at money exchange shops in Thailand. @DarshanKulkarni01 If they ask you to show proof of funds, then it will have to be currency only. They don't accept cards as proof. However, many times, they don't even ask. It is up to you to decide if you want to carry the required amount of currency or take a chance. If you decide to take a chance, do carry acceptable proof that your card has been loaded with currency.

@RahulChauhan-ts2hd Thailand has allowed visa free entry up to 10th of May 2024. That means, if you enter on or before that day, your passport will be stamped with permission to stay for 30 days. If you enter on 9th May, there is nothing to worry about.

@user-fn4ks5ow3e I have no personal experience of this. Generally, it is possible to submit an application to the immigration bureau in the city, seeking an extension of stay. The immigration officer then decides whether to grant an extension or not. It is better to submit the application through a visa agent in Thailand because the agent can guide you on how to get it done. Another option is to leave Thailand for a few days, say go to Cambodia, and then return for 30 more days.

Hello, very informative video. Thanks. I am going alone to Bangkok tomorrow. Please advise if any photograph or something like e-visa is required even it's visa free entry for Indians. Also, I am travelling alone and would have required USD currency with me. Hope, it would be fine to carry money in USD currency. You can cancel those bookings after clearing immigration. Agoda and Goibibo have hotels with those options. Otherwise, go without booking and if the immigration officer asks, just explain that you have not decided about the last few days of your stay in Thailand.

@akanshagaur2061 You will need a signed invitation letter (hard copy) from your friend containing his/her name, address, passport or Thai ID number, and legal status in Thailand. The letter will have your identification particulars (including passport number) as well.

@josephnavinedward9198 Under the visa-free policy, the minimum remaining passport validity has to be six months. But under the visa on arrival arrangement, it is only 30 days. Please wait for the decision on extending the visa-free policy to come. If they don't extend it, then visa on arrival will be back.

@chetanparmar4110 If you enter on or before 10th May, they will stamp your passport with permission to stay for a maximum of 30 days. It is ok if you enter on 8th May with a plan to leave on 18th.

If it is a single PNR ticket on the same airline, and your bags are checked in right upto Krabi, then yes, you can board the Krabi flight from the transit area at Kuala Lumpur Airport. There will be no immigration in KL, and you can do it after landing at Krabi. However, if the airline or PNR are different, and/or you have to collect bags at KL and re-check in, then 2-way immigration will happen at KL before you can board your flight to Krabi.

Hi. 1. When you check in for your flight to Thailand, the airline will give you a boarding card. It has flight details. 2. Proof of funds, if they ask for it, has to be in currency only. Bank statements are not accepted. 3. I have no idea of dummy tickets.

If someone asks you as to why you are visiting again within a short period, you will need a ready and acceptable answer.

@venkatr7215 If you have prepaid return air tickets and confirmed prepaid hotel bookings for the entire stay, then having 20K Baht in cash is sufficient to show as proof of funds. However, since you are going for 30 days, 20K Baht means just 666 Baht a day, for two persons. Obviously, you will have to use your credit or debit cards, or withdraw cash from an ATM to meet your expenses in Thailand. If the immigration officer asks, you may have to show them your cards in addition to the cash you are carrying.

You will get visa free entry at Krabi International Airport if you arrive there on or before May 10, 2024, and carry all the required docs and sufficient funds.

Hi. So your company has already arranged your trip in Thailand? I can understand that 4000 Baht in cash will be enough for you. Sometimes, Thai immigration officers refuse to understand it. But many times, they don't even ask about money. Sometimes they ask. If they ask you, try telling them about your company having arranged the trip, and also show them any credit cards you may have. During visa on arrival days, they were quite rigid. Now, at the immigration counters, hopefully, they will be a little flexible.

@asksdb That looks like a problem. If you have to clear immigration, collect your bags, and check in for the Phuket flight, you may not have adequate time. In the morning time, when a bunch of flights arrive at DMK from India and China, there are long queues at the immigration counters. This type of booking is good when on the same airline and same PNR, when your bags are checked in up to Phuket. Not otherwise.

@harshittiwari5305 As VFS Global people would have informed you, the funds requirement in case of a two-month visa is 700 USD or equivalent in another currency. If a Thai immigration officer asks you to show proof of funds, they will likely insist on cash (currency) equal to or more than 700 USD. But sometimes they don't ask. It is decided by the immigration officer on the spot. If they ask for proof of funds, then bank statement or debit cards, etc., will not work. You will need to show currency. And if they don't ask, then all is well. About hotel booking, you are expected to have hotel bookings for the entire planned stay. However, you can book four days in one hotel, and the remaining days in other hotels with a free cancellation option. After clearing immigration, you can cancel the unwanted bookings.

With an Indian passport, you only have to pass through immigration. No visa is needed. You will have to clear immigration twice, when going to take the second boarding card, and then again when going to board the flight to Mumbai.

You may carry less, and explain to them that you will use your cards or ATM. But those people are not very friendly. I avoid that trouble by carrying 10,000 Baht.

It is like this. When they used to give visa on arrival, I tried showing them my debit card, and my past travel record. They did not accept those, and kept insisting on cash. The immigration counters are different. My last visit, they did not ask me about funds. But I am sure, if they asked, I would have to show cash only. Bank statements, cards, etc., don't work.
