Oh gosh, I really needed this. I just bought lots of clothes for my daughter and I and feel pretty guilty! We wear everything so far and love it all, so I guess that's good. Now it's time to settle back into being grateful for what I have and stop accumulating.
@ArtyAntics
@ArtyAntics 3 года назад
When I do that (literally just did that 2 days ago) I hate the guilty feeling but I’ve learnt not to label it as negative and try to learn why it is there. Unusually because I’ve tipped something out of balance that needs fixing. I go through my wardrobe or whatever category I have bought and see if there is something to let go of. Because it reminds me of what I already have and I might return it if I don’t want to give something else up. At least is lessens the clutter and if I’ve overspent I might do a mini no buy until I’m back on track. If that doesn’t resolve the guilt .I sit a journal about it. I realised for me, buying anything makes me feel guilty so I’m working on that. When I feel the need to impulse buy again I remember the work I did after the fact and it makes me more likely to pause next time, although this last time I saw it as a sign I am healing and did deserve nice things so I’m letting the guilt go. Maybe for you part of the buying was about the time you enjoyed with your daughter and that is actually priceless 😊

I have a couple of You Tubers I follow that do 'minimalist capsule wardrobe' videos and I can't even get through their videos without thinking I need that item to make my capsule wardrobe complete and start scrolling to buy it. This has inspired me to make myself wait before completing the purchase. I usually end up returning what I bought after that endorphin rush has settled. Makes me feel so guilty because of the huge waste of resources to get that item delivered and returned. I want to be more thoughtful and stop any impulse buying! I don't want to unsubscribe from those You Tubers because they really are inspiring. A waiting period will solve it.

Because of all the videos I've watched on minimalism, I've realized that I was a collector. Like a personal antique store, I collected cute things from the past. When I was young, everything I had was handed down to me, and I still own and use some of those things. But then I started looking for those kinds of things to buy again and again. Tea pots, cream and sugar sets, platters and serving items, old individual salt bowls, glass everything, Fiesta ware, vases, unique kitchen tools, small ceramic or wooden boxes for display, carved jade items, jewelry, the list goes on and on. I didn't even know I was doing that. For years I had the space to display these items so I continued to own them. For 3 years I've lived in the smallest house I've ever owned, and when the clutter became unbearable last Christmas, that's when I knew I had to do something. It's hard to let go of those things, but they have no purpose and no longer give me pleasure. In fact some of these things are now a problem to get rid of. It's been hard in some ways, but they have to go. Thanks for all your videos helping me to choose a new path. I appreciate what you do for all of us.

🚪Grrrrrl! My husband and I loved IKEA - it was our happy place when we lived near one. And although we couldn't buy too much, we did buy some major purchases that unfortunately now I somewhat regret. As much as our IKEA furniture served us well, many of the pieces we had broke down because they weren't truly made to last. And yes, when I entered an IKEA, my mind literally went crazy with wanting to buy everything and anything.

I just watched a video with people attaching minimalist! I am still in shock! How can some people be so against minimalism? What's wrong with wanting to own less and focus more on other aspects of your life? What's wrong with wanting to see life at a more meaningful and deep level? To have more freedom to do things and more money to spend in other things like holidays or your hobbies! 🤔 Great video dear Marissa!

My guess is people are just jealous. I have been trying to be minimal for about 2 years now and was recently garage saling with a friend and I mentioned a small set of plates were cute and I was going to buy them and she said in a very we snappy tone "oh what's the problem, did you declutter all of yours and now you need them??" Whenever I want to get something that cost more I think for a while if I want this and for what reason. For example recently I got shoes from sale. I wanted those for a long time and we use shoes everyday so I saw this as a good reason. Those checkout sweets are in thoughts but I can resist them. I make a list at home what I want and plan my meals at home and for work. Basicaly i try to get only If I need something cuz its unfixable etc. Thanks for this video. Good remider for everyday 😀

With minimalism my impulse buys are far more infrequent, but I did give in to strawberry filled croissants as a treat for my family as I waited too long at Costco for a prescription. They were a disappointment, I got the one in the box with no filling. I do think that buying some delicious treats from time to time from the grocery store helps us greatly avoid eating eating out which is quite expensive as a family of 7. I’ve often taken frugality too far in grocery shopping so I’m seeking a balance. Not everything we buy has to be an absolute need. Somehow ultra frugality actually feeds a scarcity mindset for me.

For the items that I tend to impulse-buy I made a list where I notate every thing I buy (for me that's fabric which I don't want to skip completely because now and then, I just _need_ new clothes) with date and price. I set myself a fixed budget for each month and that helped a lot to consider if I really want to buy this fabric or not. Sometimes I'll go over the budget for example when I buy really good quality wool for a new coat, but then I buy less or nothing in another month :) Unsubscribing from newsletters is SO helpful! I unsubscribed from those that made me buy stuff I liked but did not really need and now I'll go and unsubscribe from the ones that I usually delete without even reading them :D

I'm so guilty of impulse buying on my phone. My hack to minimize those is to unsubscribe from newsletters and to delete shopping Apps from my phone. It helped me so much that it's not as simple as it was just to go on the app, scroll through, and order right away. Instead I have to go on the website, log in and kind of actively put so much efford in ordering online that I got to think during the process that it might be better not to order whatever I was about to buy without even thinking about it. Just setting little boundaries got me a long way so far. 😊

I do really well until I go browse for no reason. My house stays purged on a very regular basis, I don’t online shop, I ignore or stop myself from seeing sales, I keep a want list and items can stay on that list for several months before I buy, etc, but my Mom and sister like to go shop for the sake of shopping (and I like spending time with them) and when I browse, I can easily convince myself that I need something that was never on my list before. I never even thought about that item before, but because I saw it, I now want it. And when my mom and sister are freely buying things and often encouraging purchases, I end up buying it then instead of putting it on my list. It doesn’t happen too frequently, but I’m annoyed that I fall into that trap.

Most of the time, I go "what was I thinking?!" and don't buy it. 3. I'm working on myself and practicing gratitude for what I have. But I am seriously a shopping addict. It has a lot to do with my feelings, loneliness, boredom, scarcity mindset. I have a bad relationship with food too, for the same reasons. I'll reach my goal weight and sabotage myself. It's a work in progress.

Everything in life is about a choice I have always been a person of minimum items in the home . I never really buy anything unless I really need to buy it and it's required within the home no impulse buying with me at all I am very selective

Hi there, this link is for Germany FYI : www.wayfair.de/moebel/pdp/mack-milo-esszimmerstuhl-anton-brba8720.html?piid=29485875. Sorry to say the gray is sold out for now, but these chairs are FABULOUS..comfy, and practical.

🙋‍♀️guilty of several of those impulse triggers for sure! Great tips which are all things I already knew but still impulse buy anyway. Hopefully I will hear your voice from this video playing in my head anytime I’m about to swipe on another online purchase ha ha!

Age is a factor we never think we going to age, then when you reach retirement, it a rude awaking... It's ok not to have money when your YOUNG but, it's not ok when you OLDER. Please remember that...

When you are bored and that makes you spend money, you can always replace it with going outside in nature or watch rather this channel to keep you on the right track.❤

🚪Best friend moved in with her fiance, and I now have the apartment on my own. I want to make it cozy and comfy for just me. I'm decluttering, and trying to save to get out of credit card and student debt.

Hi, I really like your channel. I am minimalist myself and I live on 38m2 with my boyfriend. Although, I must say I don't save money at all :( I have a decent job in marketing, spend quite a lot of money on my teeth braces and some other doctors, I rent a flat in the capital of my country, there is quite a big inflation now, so we always buy the same stuff while on grocery shopping and it cost us more and more and it just all eats up my salary. I think I do something wrong in my life... :(

Thank you for your video's! It's really helps me to stay on a board and not give up! At the moment, i and my 2 sons and husband moved into our new apartment, and i thought it wkul be empty... but i'm sitting in the room between piles, bags and boxes. and i feel stress, anxtions and disappointed with myself, no sparkle of Joy in this stuffs. I have to go through this items again and again, like i did it already, and i hope, that one day, i will love seeing nothing to declutter anymore) 🚪

Thank you!!!!! 😊 100% spot on. I like to wait for a time frame before I buy anything. 1 month on average. If only I can get my partner to stop buying so much food thinking will never be able to get it due to covid.
