Thank you for this video. Sure enough…many clogged and corn/micro bits of food. I would add that turning them over and tapping them so that the food can drop out over and over again really helped unlodge the food bits.

Many years ago I was factory schooled in servicing the old Kenmore dishwashers for Sears, Roebuck & Co. One thing I learned from them was that you need to run your water at the sink next to the dishwasher until it is very hot before starting your dishwasher. Otherwise your detergent will not be fully effective. What I really miss the most in the KitchenAid machine is the macerator that the Kenmore had to completely liquify food fragments and keep them from clogging the machine's spray arms.

Thank you for this video. Very helpful as I decide if I need a "real" repair person (not me). Good information without a lot of filler CRAP and music in the background not obnoxious. Good job in the making of it. BTW, that "poking tool", is an awl. Sounded like you called it an owl. Not trying to be a dick, just don't want you continuing to call it that without anyone telling you . I mispronounced something for many years and no one told me...

Thank you for this! My dishes get clean but can sometimes smell like wet dog. Using Cascade complete and a rinse aid. I just cleaned the filter which wasnt too bad. But the filter cup was full of water. Is that normal?

I have this dishwasher and needed this information. Sorry to find there really is no easy way to get food fragments out of spray arms. I will be more careful about pre-rinsing dishes. What I always think, though, while doing that is "Well, I'd just as well go ahead and hand-wash them." Nevertheless, I really appreciate this video.

Thanks Wayne, There is an advantage of using the dishwasher and that the water gets so hot that it creates steam and the steam will kill almost every type of pathogen. Hand washing doesn’t get hot enough to take out all the bad germs.

So question where the circular filter is there is always leftover water in there. Is it supposed to be there is that some of the problems with dishes not cleaning?

There should be some water left underneath the metal filter👍
