It is so interesting.🧐🤓to see everyone's use of native plants too. You are blessed to have so many gorgeous plants in the U.S. About the heliotrope💜plants: they were here in QLD quite a few years ago, but they were expensive. Then they were sold in medium to small pots and slightly more affordable. However, this winter, July, they are out as seedlings in punnets, and are around $3.00 for six smallish but very healthy plants. They should be big by summer and I am going to put them every where. 🥰😄I'm so excited. 💚I adore scented plants that are also very pretty and hardy in our climate, that is Zone 9b-10a. I love your channel Janey as you always have something super interesting to show your viewers. I never tire of watching you work on your garden, or visiting other peoples gardens, whether in person, or video. Love to go plant shopping with you, see you beautiful animals, especially Monty!!☺💚Don't pets, especially dogs and chickens, bring a garden to life! Monty is your garden buddy.☺🐕

About heliotrope, I agree with what you said in a previous video, some varieties have little to no scent, but the one from last year was/still is incredible. Too bad here we don't have many proven winners choices but if one day you manage to do a Proven Winners event here, I'd be very happy ! I loved Donna's garden ! I loved the idea she had to put bed metal structure in one of her garden beds ! I love Robyn's garden, I remember watching one of her videos and I loved what she managed to do, well done ! (just subscribed Robyn :) ) Beautiful planters Jazmin ! And so many echinaceas, love it, and they can handle our heat if they manage to not be destroyed by snails/slugs in spring 😛 Oh, yeah, I remember when Tamara and her husband came to help you, it's very interesting to see how what you plant as a seedling or young plant can grow to become 20/25 years later ! Love the series but would love to see the OTHER zone 9!! (the hot desert of Nevada, Arizona or Texas) But I will be sure to save videos of my yard & garden when its looking good for next years video series :)
I would love a "Janey" tour of Jasmin's garden. I'd like to know all the plant names and the challenges she faces. I saw a Desert Willow tree! I love how she incorporates natives plants alongside proven winners. I have found if you plant too many natives then they can just look stark. The lushness of PW next to them is gorgeous!
It would be a dream to have Janey tour my garden someday, I met her at The Greenery in Turlock and she was the absolute SWEETEST :) Out of all of the plants in my garden, nothing beats natives for the pollinators/beneficial insects! But I just can’t resist the beautiful color and blooms from PW!! I love my desert willow, it’s in full bloom now in the middle of summer and grows soooo quickly. It’s less than 1 year old and has grown maybe 4 feet since November!!
Fun to see what others choose to grow. I also let my little pink flowers go. Buttercup or Texas primrose are considered weeds in Texas, but they have great childhood memories, so I let them go, let them grow. I have to remind my husband every year, they are NOT weeds to me.
I too love the Firebush, Mexican Heather, and my Purple Black Diamond Crepe Myrtles! I garden in zone 9b Texas Gulf Coast! ALL the Gardens are BEAUTIFUL! Thank you for sharing.
It is so funny seeing flowers that are considered weeds in Texas. The last garden with the pink flower grows everywhere and Jenna's garden the American Beauty Berry they consider a weed here but I still love it and grow it. She also had the fire bush she said I always thought it was called the hummingbird bush so glad to know what I have.
Oh interesting ! Even if it goes everywhere, I'll be happy to have beautiful pale pink flowers ^^ It's like verbena bonariensis, one has to decide if they love it to the point of having them everywhere or not :)
I’m sorry I did not include the botanical name. I was in a rush and trying to talk quietly (not my norm 😂). The botanical name for firebush is Hamelin Patens. Both the Firebush and Beautyberry are Florida Natives. The beautyberry can spread by birds dropping seeds but I haven’t noticed it popping up in my yard. I actually needed to propagate it to get a second one. Hope this info helps.
Hmmm! In grade 5 I did a book report on Luther Burbank, so I learned to be thankful for his genius with plants at an early age. It’s so fun to see what new and useful cultivars become available. Also, it is fun to try new things, and now and then go beyond the ordinary. I have a “Grace” smokebush, about ten feet tall (3 metres) which is a hybrid of a European and an American native smokebush. It has purple leaves, silvery bark, and big plumes of smokey purple blooms. Ordinarily, Smokebush does not always do well here. I planted a very small one, limbed it up to grow like a tree, and it has been very hardy here on the zone 3b prairie in Canada. It leafs out very late in Spring, so it avoids frost, which I think is the secret of its success. Otherwise native species like purple coneflower, liatris, sage, serviceberry, dogwood, ornamental native grasses, as well as prairie-developed fruit trees and roses, etc. for the prairies do well here. Summer days are long without mountains to block the sun. There are “antique” or at least vintage plantings of peony and lilacs that come up faithfully in the older settlements every year.
All of the gardens are beautiful. My favorite is the last one! It looks like the most beautiful wildlife sanctuary. It would be such a wonderful place to enjoy the outdoors in the early morning ❤ The more you look the more treasures you find!

Love this!! Let's go closer to Sonoma Coast! North of Petaluma to Sebastopol! Foggy, cool mornings and then warm afternoons in Sebastopol! I'm building out "drought tolerant" gardens, rose gardens and vegetables. It was 48 degrees this morning and 80+ degree this afternoon. Gophers. Deer. No growing grass here. Weeds galore. But Hummingbirds everywhere. Want to plant more plants so less weeds!. Plants thriving: lavender, nepeta, salvia, roses, agastache, butterfly bush. I don't want to be intimated by deer and gopher and willing to put in the work to keep them from eating the younger plants they are attracted to until they are more established.. I am inspired by you and Fionuala at Cottage Gardens. I have adjusted my garden based on both or your amazing recommendations. thank you!
I have some Dusty Miller - I'm thinking of transplanting to make it more of a white companion plant to roses vs lambs ear....which do you think?????? I have both but want to make Dusty Miller a more "wow"...
A friend wanted to get this old headboard and footboard out of his barn so I gladly took it not knowing what I do with it. I was thrilled to find out that it fit my bed perfectly. It really is fun.!!!

Beautiful, how I wish I had a little longer summer to grow more pretty things. This year I'm leaning more to perennials. I was gifted 6 pots of red geraniums that about it for annuals this year. My older age is creeping up on me and can't garden like I used too. 2 yrs ago I put Echinacea, daisy's, lavender and hostas and salvia in. Next year I want to find a nice ground cover.
YES JANEY… get a firebush! I’m in Florida Zone 10a and planted one last year. It’s gotten quite big in a year and the hummingbirds absolutely love it. We use it for privacy as well.
They are all so spectacular, wish my garden looked like those but it takes lots of work and water... the one in France is very green must get lots of rain in that area.
Thanks, we had an exceptionnally rainy winter and spring (but UK beats us, they even are having a rainy summer...). A few years ago we went through a drought (and forest fires) and as I don't water the grass, it was all yellow 😅
Hiii!! My ground cover is ‘Pink Chintz’ Creeping Thyme, it’s a PROLIFIC bloomer!! It has been blooming nonstop since November and withstands part shade-full sun in my garden and grows fairly quickly! My fav of all the creeping thyme I’ve tried :)
I have a question for Maya in France! What kind of soil do you have and what did you use for mulch? At first I thought everything was planted in sand 😊. Your garden is beautiful
Hi Marlene ! Thanks a lot ! My soil is mostly clay, which I try to amend each year (this year I added mature horse manure). I did use hemp mulch and another similar looking one I found at the garden centres around here, it makes the plants stand out in my opinion and I use it mostly to keep the moisture. When it decomposes, it then helps amend the soil 😊
@@mypreciousgarden Hi Maya! Gosh I don’t think they carry hemp mulch in Texas! Also, do you know if your soil is alkaline ? I have heavy clay and it’s definitely alkaline. I feel like my plants never look good because of it.
Hi. I’m zone 9 in Texas. It’s interesting to see other zone 9 areas and what they can grow. Some of the plants would never make it here. Wish we could get more growers to list sun zones on their tags. QUESTION. in Jasmine’s garden what are those BLUE flowers in the pot with the sweet potato vine, near the driveway? And are those jazzberry petunias I see. So pretty
Hi!!!! I’ll answer all the questions you’d like :) the deep blue purple/blue flower in the pots are Supertunia Royal Velvet, and yes I have loads of Jazzberries!!
The pink hydrangeas are endless summer. It’s my favorite because you can cut it back and it blooms on new and old wood so they’re a lot more hardy for me than the typical big leaf.

I do have a question, what does the zoning mean eg zone 3 -40 to -35 F why the 2 minuses? I’ve asked this at the nursery and they’ve never noticed those and don’t know why. Each zone actually has 2 temps that are very close together what does this mean, why? Love this series!🇨🇦👏🇨🇦
@@mypreciousgarden yes I get why the minuses are there( I’m zone three so very cold winters) But yes, maybe the first one is meant to be Celsius as -40 Celsius and - 35 F are basically the same thing. I never thought of that, but they should put a C for Celsius right! Anyway, thanks for the idea, that could definitely be the answer! ☺️🇨🇦
