Following his 3 spectacular predecessors, I was really reluctant to accept Peter Capaldi as the 12th Doctor. But he soon captured my heart, and he had some of the most dramatic and iconic monologues in Who history!

@@ms.antithesis - Peter Davison was only 29 when he took over the role of the Doctor in 1980.
@ms.antithesis

@@carolp5968 yeah that was a gimmick. The young doctor should be the exception not the rule. Like I like mcgann, and ecelston, and tenant, and smith. But 4 doctors under the age of 40 when taking the role in a row, when previously only 1 doctor had been under the age of 40 when taking the role... tbe exception becomes the rule. When an exception becomes the rule what use to be differances become boring. Davison is my least favourite classic doctor personally because he has nothing to him besides being young and energetic in comparison to other classic doctors. Once that became the norm he transformed into the blandest doctor. So the exception shouldn't keep being the rule.

The "because it's kind" speech is hands down my favorite moment. Peter Capaldi is so amazing in that scene, the desperation in his voice trying his hardest to get through to the Master's one last time gets to me every time. I think about and rewatch that scene a lot.

The Rings of Akhaten speech is one of my all time favourites, due to Matt Smiths acting. There was so much emotion ranging from happy, sad and self loathing, in a small scene, I do wish that they would include Clara's part however. Edit: Anyone notice during the Doctors Wife, the Tardis mentions a Forest... who gave River Song her name? The people from the Gamma FORESTS. Foreshadowing?
@AhsimNreiziev
@AhsimNreiziev Год назад
In _A Good Man Goes To War_ , River literally states that her name is River Song and not Melody Pond, because "the only water in the Forest is the river", and as such the People of the Forest don't have a word for "pond". At that point, Rory remembers that "the only water in the Forest is the river" is exactly what Idris/the TARDIS told them in that scene. This scene in _The Rings of Akhaten_ is one of my favourites too, but for me it's mostly because of the singing. "The Long Song" is easily one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. The speech would have been more impactful for me if it had actually, you know..... worked. That's why the Doctor's speech to Merry about the elements in one's body and her being unique in all the Universe; as well as the moment with Clara and the leaf and the concept of a life not lived being made up of an infinite amount of possibilities; made much more of an impact on me than Eleven's speech to Akhaten itself. Although, as said, the song is absolutely amazing. By the by, the same reason is also why I've never much liked the Pandorica/Stonehenge speech. If anything, Eleven only *_encouraged_* the villains to team up and lock him into the Pandorica by pointing out how afraid they should be of him.

One thing about the Best Doctor speeches (and i'll say this on the other video, too). The REALLY good ones, you can imagine being said by ANY Doctor in their own distinctive voice and accent, and the speech still works. In the middle of Tennant's "and I believe in one thing, just one thing", I heard Matt Smith's 'style' in there. He could have delivered that just as well. Once you're there, you can hear Sylvester McCoy, and onward. When he words are The Doctor's, it works, no matter who is saying them.

For me, one of the most deeply poignant moments of NuWho is when Captain Brooke suicides, basically spitting in the Doctor's self-righteous face and telling him to go to hell! And for me, no one added the perfect amount of drama to any given situation than #12. Capaldi's portrayal was, and this is just me, the most ideal Doctor persona of the series since Tom Baker. Granted, every actor brought their particular....quirks....to the Doctor, but Capaldi, and again this is just me, was the perfect embodiment of what our favorite Time Lord is supposed to be. I am looking forward to Ncuti Gatwa in the role. Cheers....

for the tiniest second during clara falling, just before the scene changes to her hitting the floor, does anyone else notice a change in hair and CGI face shift? could just be artefacting from the explosion propagating behind her, but the change in hair colour and shadowing makes her look, shall we say, floral. edit2: i still wish we could have got some war doctor episodes with Sir Hurt, may he rest well, not sure if anyone else would fit the part so well.

Proof, once again, you can't get them all in at once. Each Doctor has his, or her, own speech which defines them. No Jon Pertwee, or Colin Baker, or Sylvester McCoy here, and they all had fine speeches. William Hartnell's is always required. There are others. I am partial to Peter Capaldi (old Scotsmen, or at least those of Scots heritage, have to stick together), but every Doctor has their moments. And the companions: my favorite, Jenna Coleman, and Deborah Watling from the early years. A Part Two would be needed to get them all in, along with those in the 97 missing half-hours. Someday...

First time i saw fugitive doctor getting that timelord status, i assumed for just those few moments before being revealed as an unknown Doctor that it was actually a different version of the master, maybe one yet to come. But then it was revealed she was a alternate doctor and it blew my mind. I honestly believe that's from a separate timeline, one where 10 didnt refuse the regeneration and create the half human doctor by sending energy to his old hand. A timeline where 11 came to be earlier, and had a regeneration left before needing a new cycle. That led to a different timeline, one where 10 didnt survive long enough to say goodbye to rose or tell rose she'd have a great year. Potentially not even needing to sacrifice himself to save people. And even if he did, 11 would be the one dying, meaning all 11 was supposed to do was instead done by 12, and everything changed. Amy pond would meet 12, 12's personality being different leads to a different set of events, maybe even keeping amy and Rory alive. River would have fallen for 12, not 11. 12 would know how river dies of course, and still attempts to avoid it. Then when time came for the next regeneration cycle, clara indeed does what she did in the original, and 12 becomes a different doctor. Not the 13 we know, a different one. And that change is what leads to the Fugitive doctor eventually becoming who we see in fugitive of judoon
