I have the blue sunburst version of the San Martin sumo, it really is a stunner, with a perfect colour match between the dial and bezel. I think you are correct with your evaluation of these models. The San Martin bracelet is very well made and well worth the price difference. Thanks for another great upload.

Yes the San Martin is slightly better than the Steeldive, only slightly, but the Steeldive is much closer to the Sumo than the San Martin is, and to me I don’t really care if it’s half a micron off on the bezel alignment since you can’t see it while wearing it and because you can have the same problem on another San Martin, and not on another Steeldive, my SD1970 is perfectly aligned. Yes the bracelet is better on the San Martin but I personally prefer a good rubber strap on this watch anyway . So given all that, I would go for the Steeldive. Great Video as usual, thank you.

Hi, thanks for a new comparison hot on the heels of the 6105 video! I would say though, the font on the Steeldive bezel is much more Sumo accurate and that sways me here over the slight quality advantage of San Martin. It 's one of the coolest elements of the real Sumo with its thicker bezel number font that is very unique and original.

Awesome in depth video once again second to none my blue Sumo I picked up on the anniversary sale is always in my weekly rotation in my opinion Steeldive seems to be the best value for my money also just pulled the trigger on their new Tuna homage plenty of new colors I went with the red one let you know when it arrives only 100$

Ok, so after a few drinks this evening I've pulled the trigger on the San Martin Sumo. Your review was the straw that broke the camels back (or the cider was). I've gone for the black one, even though I'd probably prefer the blue one, but that was because I could get the black one from a UK seller.

Fantastic comparison! Great to see the detail. It's funny though on what they said about the link or difference between Addiesdive and Steeldive. I got an Addiesdive fleiger style dive watch delivered a couple of weeks ago ( very happy with it), but the plastic lunchbox it came in had a Steeldive sticker, not Addies!!🤣

Good video, but should I simply buy an old SBDC031? I see those for under $400 used (not much more than San Martin). I know the new one costs far more (almost $1,000), but the used is not bad. Do I buy the real watch new, Orr muybone of these?

I was underwhelmed by the sumo, i had the dark blue and i dont think the price is justified imo. The gen 1 has crept up in price, i would go steeldive / sam martin to see if you like how it wears. The SM is better balanced on wrist whereas the gen is top heavy

San Martin has a logo on dial plus a luminous tip in the 12mark triangle on the bezel insert... let alone the dif is 3 grams(tease ya too Watcher...)😜😂😂 All in good fun mates, cheers!

Hello brother! I like your videos and the fact that you actually know about the movements and components that make a good watch! That being said i think you should check out ARAGON watches! They are the best value for your buck and are very affordable! Automatic power reserve 29 jewel seiko movement watches with a real mother of pearl dial go for under 300 dollars!

Sorry, I meant to edit my comment, deleted it by mistake...but my point was I think the SD bezel font looks way better than the SM, SD is the wide Seiko style font, SM looks very generic....I would definitely award a point for it, I think it looks much more distinctive...

Yeh i do like the font on the SD, gives it a large appearance. The point system goes towards possible price increase, I scored both evenly as the subset pip requires a touch more to manufacture and the lumed bezel of the SD is abit more. Aside from the subjective preference I wasn't too sure if one should out weigh the other. I agree with your preference though but like that pip on the SM

@@TheWatcherReviews good point, would a single pip not be cheaper than a whole recessed lumed bezel though...? I love SM quality, but I think SD are the winner on the bezel...that said...SM bracelet would tip it for me.... Excellent review....really interesting to get into the nitty-gritty!!

The SD font is like the Gen 1&2 Seiko font, the SM is like the Seiko Sumo Gen 3 font. I think they both are great, just different.

Hi mate. Among the Homage of Sumo, the most accurate and faithful is the Steeldive Sumo. Purchased in January in the Blue Smurf version (the best in my opinion) I would buy it again. Impeccable in everything (the only negative note is the rubber strap) but from now on you can finally buy the steel bracelet. Greeting

If it's an homage, do you give more weight for the watch that looks like the original more, or do you give the one that goes its own way more weight. The SD is more accurate depiction of a Sumo. BTW - bracelet is available on the SD when I just checked.

Its a good question, with these comparisons, i tend to give points stricktly on value add features. Something which without a doubt should cost more to do. On my normal reviews it does depend, i like it if they do put their own twist, i like the SD 6105 and Merkur for those exact reasons. One has stayed faithful and one has owned it in their own way

The problem with these watches and the Seiko is the silly 20mm lugs! Looks like a skinny body with a giant head. It should off been 22mm. Also the Steeldive 12oclock marker looks like a camel toe! ;-)

AFAIK that has to do with the vintage diver essence of those watches. In the 60s and 70s when this type of external rotational bezel divers became ultra fashionable such small lug width was the standard and Seiko keep loyal to the tradition

San Martin seems to be higher quality with all of their watches . Great comparison but I own the Seiko sbdc033 Sumo/Blumo. Nothing beats the real thing 👍🏻
