The girl playing flute in the very last row is Hitomi Kanamaru, she was born with one(1) leg, but she has the determination to join the band... she became the inspiration of the whole band members, inspite of those rigorous training, and the choreography and playing the flute.....
In the 2015 season, her first, It is difficult to be sure but a side shot seemed to show her jumping over another band member during Sing Sing Sing. she is incredible. And she made it all the way through the Rose Parade. And I had to bail on marching band in college because of a bad knee. At least I had two.
@@jameshorn270 There is nothing anyone cannot do, regardless of physical limitations, if they really want to do it bad enough. I've had both knees replaced & suffered a stroke & I can do anything now at 61 that I could do at 16 because no one likes a quitter. I had to learn how to talk, walk, & concentrate all over again, as I was a mess after my stroke, but I did it!
@@sphinxrising1129 Can yu d it as well Could you cover a high school wide receiver, for instance? In my case, I have an arthritic knee. During band camp, freshman year of college, of college the intense pounding caused inflammation so bad it even affected the skin over my knee. I had to wear shorts because anything touching my the skin cause pain like I had a burn. In fact, I would likely have damaged my knee if I had continued. I have done a lot since then, included serving in the military, (that pos Nam manpower shortage) and I still have the same knee
So many impressive things going on, but one which particularly caught my attention was the small girls carrying sousaphones, and not just carrying but playing and dancing at the same time. Hats off to the entire band.
I'm old and single. Every time I feel sad and alone, I watch these videos of these amazing young people doing amazing things, and they bring my spirits up and make me happy again! Marching, dancing and playing instruments all at the same time, truly amazing!!! Please keep it up, it makes me so happy to watch!!!
Every time I watch these older clips the girl with the short hair on the Xylophone always stands out she has such an infectious smile and seems to be full of energy!
I love watching her perform, seems she is always loving what she does and it shows. Love how she interacts with her audience as well. An outstanding role model.
All of us that follow Tachibana admire this young woman. I believe her nick is Clara (Nicknames are all they go buy) She is a trooper an does everything the other members do. They had a 2 or 3 mile parade last year, and she did a great job....the Rose Parade over New Years is going to be a real challenge, but she will make Tachibana proud, and have memories that last a life time.
This band should be an example to all bands. Not only do they play extremely well, but also march and dance whilst marching. To do even one of these things well, with such a large group, is an achievement, but all three is amazing!!!
@@jgd480 this is just an after school club primarily made up of second and third year students. The configuration they used this time is four wide which is quite unusual for them. It not only means they have to adapt everyone in the line up but it would also sound different to each student too. The girls carrying the School banner are not usually there either. On the left was the next Drum Major and on the right was usually baritone sax. The girl on metal xylophone was a first year student, girl at the back has a prosthetic leg. They marched off a soft grass bank over a kerb, down a steep hill did a u-turn and then up a steep hill. All this while being huddled in by hundreds if not thousands of cameras being stuck in their path or their faces but they never missed a step a beat or a note. they also smiled and waved and high fived while they took a breather. In all this time they played with perfect intonation. I am pretty sure the microphone didn't do it justice. Any mic will be directional so we never got the full balance. they worked very hard, practicing more hours than you could imagine, being tutored by fellow students while adding their own years variations to several tunes. It is amazing astonishing, unrivaled, unique. A treasure, a pleasure, a privilege to witness. This simple outing for a few of their many members was adored by their fans all over the world.... but YOU were bored by repetition in their program selection for this event... poor you. EDIT: I forgot singing... they sang too. More props, Tachibana
jgd480 This isn’t the full band and they have a huge repertoire if you watch other videos. Of course they have their staple tunes but they do add new ones every year. This wasn’t a competition and not meant to be the precision matching they can display. As an ex-band member I can say they are amongst the best high school marching bands in the world!
It's a slippery slope, I fell down the same rabbit hole in 2017, I now watch their videos most days. Then I found they weren't the only amazing Japanese high school band, now I'm watching Takefu Commercial, Hokkaido SIT band, Ohnishi high school, Izumo business high school and many others that I stumble across.

Thank you for compiling this list. I heard a tune in there that I liked, but I didn't know the name of. The description was all in Japanese, so I couldn't read it. I found out from this list that it was Barque Hoedown. Thank you!
You know it's hot and humid when the cicadas are singing almost as loud as the band! Great job by these young folks enduring the heat and humidity to entertain us! Amazing performance!
The way this band plays all the Disney tunes, Disney should hire them to entertain the crowds at Tokyo Disney. In fact, they should hire them to travel to all Disney Parks worldwide to entertain the thousands of daily visitors. Thank you for sharing this wonderful clip. It's always fun watching this group. Looks like there will always be up to date videos of this band. Thanks again. Looking forward to many more of your videos.
on en a rien à foutre de disney et de vos parcs d'abrutis, l'important est seulement la qualité musicale et l'expression chorégraphique de ces jeunes lycéennes Japonaise, qui sont véritablement exeptionnelles !!!
The girl with the prosthetic leg still amazes me..I've never been so inspired and embarrassed at the same time. Here i am complaining that i dont have the latest phone, my allowance is not enough and making excuses.FML!
I'm not sure if people noticed but this was posted in summer, the cicadas are screaming aka they are tooting away in the FREAKING JAPANESE HEAT and if you've never been in Japan in the summer, it's MEGA humid and MEGA hot so we need to all pay some MEGA respect to warriors
@Bitch Pudding I mean they have 100% humidity but sure maybe ur right. still it's hard to dance with an instrument in that heat regardless so I respect them!
I can watch this for hours. Almost every day. I'm sitting in front of the PC or TV, have headphones on and I'm thrilled. It is so nice to see the young girls playing and marching with this discipline. A very big compliment to the music and performance teachers. And thanks to the cameraman for the wonderful shots. Greetings from Bavaria in Germany, Peter
This is what separates them from other marching bands. They try to "copy" their style of choreography and even their music. I have watched a band play their iconic sing sing sing but is a far cry from Kyoto Tachibana. What they could not duplicate or achieve is how Tachibana touches the heart and soul of the viewer even after watching them over and over. It would be a joy and a privilege to watch them perform live! Thank you Kyoto Tachibana SHS Band. You always amaze and make people smile the world over.
I think you mean Izumo Business School. They copy the style with Tachibana's blessing, and KT frequently play with them. They are a public school, and haven't the resources KT have. That's why they're not the same level. ..Joe
How could ANYONE in their right mind give this outstanding band a thumbs down. They are absolutely remarkable! It's extremely exciting watching and listening to them. Talent is out of this world!
Not only can they walk and chew gum they also sing and dance 💃 while playing instruments 🎺 and waving happily at the crowds without missing a step or note. This shows what pride in what you’re doing and lots of hard work can do👍💜👍💜👍
Hitomi Kanamaru, the girl with one leg, is such an inspiration. She even had a second amputation to stabilize her leg so she could keep marching and playing with the others. An amazing young woman!
Oh god what has tachibana done theyve hooked me on them there so amazing the amount of stamina talent and brain power to not only be in a band but to be walking in front and going tricks is most respect
All streets in Japan painted tangerine orange. The Prime Minister preside over every performance. The Japanese don't see the diamond sparkling before their eyes.
I hope these musicians see our posts! I can't help but think if ANY of these young people were applying for a job, all they would have to put on their resume would be "I played in the Kyoto Tachibana SHS Band " YOUR HIRED! Their abilities reflect their determination and grit to see something through and do it with excellence. If you listen without watching you would believe you were listening to a professional concert by paid musicians.
I did it again. I thought I’ll just listen a few minutes. That’s 19.50 minutes ago ! It’s hypnotizing ! Just can’t stop. The whole thing is just so much fun to listen to and watch. Makes you forget daily stress and worries.
AWESOME!!! You are all amazing! I've watched many of your videos, you are amazing! Hello from Philiadelphia, Pennsyvania, USA!!! Your combination of dance and band marching is amazing!!! I hope to see you in person some day!!!
I laughed at this comment, I was the same as you when I first saw them. By now you probably realise that 4 hours of viewing is just scratching the surface, I've found over a thousand videos of the band on RU-vid alone, it's a full time job to try and watch them all!
Easy to see why this band was selected for the Rose Parade. Musical talent beyond most high schools. And, they have to learn all the choreography. And do all that dancing while not missing a note. Even their ponytails are in synch. WELL DONE!!!
They blow me away..the intonation and musicality...they are just phenomenal..add in all that jumping and bouncing...I can't imagine trying to do what they do.
This is an after school activities wind club run by the students. Incoming first year students are selected by the seniors not the advisors. All the choreography and music are chosen by the students themselves and senior members train the juniors. The music advisor & marching coach are all part timers & they don't know how to dance. Even which uniform to wear for a performance/parade is decided by the senior members. It's the band members themselves that carried on the tradition of excellence. All these made me respect the band members even more 👍🙌
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME As a former semi-professional Trumpet/French Horn player, following the group gives me the inspiration to pull out my old horns,
I just love this band! They are so full of joy and the girls are feminine. They really are delightful and such good musicians. Being a retired dancer, what they are doing is no simple feat especially having all that wind to keep playing so well through it all. Very, very impressive!
I counted three bari saxes and yes, it's unbelievable how they're able to do all that artistic multitasking, but if there was ever a good age to start learning, that's definitely it!!😄
Yes, the members of Kyoto Tachibana Senior High School Band are very impressive, with their grace of movement and musicianship. Their Baritone Saxaphone Players remind me of Leo Padillo of " Too Many Zooz & Lucky Chops ". I'm thinking that Leo P. maybe once attended Kyoto Tachibana SHS too.
