This song is really hard but by the time I realized that it was too late and I had doomed myself to this madness. I originally wrote these lyrics years ago and tried to work with another cover artist to release it, but it didn't work out. So I tried to revisit it ... Nope, still madness. I wrote two versions, one with the syllables matching closely and one where I was a lot more liberal with them.
I choose to keep the close timing for the first half and allow myself more freedom as the song continued, since opinions are always split down the middle between "accuracy" and "Westernization". The Japanese lyrics are just as 'story'-like during the verses. To me, it's more like she's frantically telling a story and spirals out at the end than she's singing a song. I didn't get the sense that a perfectly flowing execution was what Kikuo was going for during the verses. Especially in a song about destroying things.
I'm sorry I keep straying outside of my element lately, instead of building to things gradually. I've been out of it.
Thanks for being patient with me. I'll probably be kind of out of the loop for a bit longer, at least until after December because I'm moving again ... yay (not really). There are some other spook songs that will trail behind into November.
