First of all - huge thank you to Matt F. on Patreon for asking me to use his bi-monthly request to produce an original instead!!
My dream is still to be able to produce more originals than covers, but we're not quite there yet. Nothing compares to putting your whole self into something and still being able to find people to connect with.
Things have been pretty bumpy for me health wise, mental and physical. I talked about that in the description for 'Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall'. I was getting better for a bit but I've been back in this dark place, sort of wondering what the point is.
I've been depressed. I've been anxious. I've been sick. I wake up every morning in panic, and my days are filled with existential dread and wondering whether or not I'm ready to 'give up' and call it quits. I keep wondering if the struggle is worth it and asking myself what makes it feel worth it? What do I live for?
I always come back around to music. Creating and connecting with others gives my life meaning where I feel there is none. It makes me want to be better, not give up, find the way out of this.
I want to find hope so I can offer to those who know what it feels like to fight like hell and not know if it'll be worth it. I feel like I've been given an opportunity not everyone is given, and I have a responsibility and desire to help as many people along the way as possible.
So while on the one hand I'm a mess, falling apart and holding off the impulse to end it all - there's another side that's fighting like hell.
This song is about that back and forth.
For now, I'll keep making music and moving forward - regardless of how exhausting life can be or 'how far I wanna go'.
But you'll find there's no real resolution. It's all just distorting the frame.

On another note, I produced the track to sound 'fun' despite some of the lyrics to represent the kind of 'upbeat' go-go-go energy it requires to keep up with everything.
In the video, people and comments spring up to represent the support I've gotten along the way and the people cheering me on - as well as the occasional passing through of the more 'critical' user. They represent things that keep me going and things that make it difficult sometimes.
SynK and I went through to hand pick frequent random comments I get. I wanted to pick from some of the more ~ random ~ impersonal ones I get, as they come up more often - even if I pour my heart out. The core of what I'm trying to convey seems lost on or irrelevant to commentators more often than not, so that's portrayed here.
Another original song I have in production will feature specific comments left by you guys (with your consent), but I'll post about that later in the community tab.

I cannot describe how much I relate to that struggle, wanting to end it all but wanting to help and heal everyone around me. Some days I can't bare all the pain and wish no one loved me so I could just end the pain without hurting anyone. For now, they will be my reason for living and things like this song are helping me keep going. Stay strong, Jayn. You're doing so well and are creating gorgeous, inspirational songs that are undoubtedly helping people. I know your music helps me. I don't even remember when I added "Be(Love) Yourself" to my Playlist, but since then that song has helped me countless times when I've felt depressed, anxious, and/or suicidal. Thank you so much. Please keep going.

Jayn, this is amazing! Love your work and love your original songs. If it ever feels like everything is closing in on you please take a break! Prioritize your happiness and your health above all. We will always love your work no matter what, so don't tear yourself up over a couple of people. I know how negative comments stick with you despite there being good comments as well, but please pay no attention to them. No matter how hard. Don't let a few people ruin your passion for music.

Another beautifully dark original! I love these songs you create, they're so real and personal and I can connect them to moments in my own life. Your song Poison actually describes how I feel about a certain person I'm close to after I tried to come out to them and then felt like I wasn't safe in doing so and just told them I'd changed my mind. But I've been miserable and angry ever since it seems, my mild feelings of depression and the urge to do destructive things to myself grew a lot in a short amount of time, I just wanted it all to end, but Poison lets me feel, lets me understand that they are the ones in the wrong, not me. I can't help how I feel and who I feel for, and if I could I wouldn't want to. I like the way I am and I love my community. I'm thinking of just saying "fuck it, it's pride month" and telling them how I really feel, because I'll be out away from them in about a year but Idk. Just wanted to share that and let you know that I adore your music. Keep it real, I hope you continue to stay motivated because you really are incredible. Sending lots of love and hope for the future your way 💗

You're an amazing artist Jayney, I feel very fortunate to have found your channel!! Your covers are not only spot on, but you make each one uniquely your's with that Jayney flair. And your originals!! As much as I enjoy your covers your originals are by far my favorites. They showcase how well rounded and incredibly gifted you are!! About what you said about how everything is very bumpy right now. It's great that you have your music, as you're well aware it's a wonderful outlet on more than an artistic level. It's good to hear that a part of you wants to fight, fight, please fight like hell & don't give in to those thoughts of ending it, please. About your desire & responsibility to help others, that's wonderful & you not only have the platform but the literal voice to do so. But you've got to a bit selfish after all if you don't put your well being first, you can't be here at your best to reach those who need you. Finally the "critics"... Yeaaahhh... I'd love to see anyone of them get behind a mic, (nevermind *everything* else you do) and try to record a semi-coherent song!! Break out the pro-tools & crank up auto tune!!!!!! First i gotta say RU-vid sucks cuz I am subbed I have the bell clicked and everything and it still didn't show this to me until i wanted to listen to one of your covers. I have been a fan a while after stumbling upon you and i gotta say I love your voice and the songs you choose to sing. A lot of your original works really resonate with me...I say a lot but after looking them up it is nearly all of them. The message of this song though made me want to reach out and tell you and anyone else reading this...I understand and I feel the same. I am someone who never comments because half the time some else said it first or better then i could. And in general I don't think most people wanna hear from me. But your song inspired me to keep going. So thank you. Don't feel pressured to keep doing this for us, but in the same hand if you want to keep going forward and sing then you should. At your own pace. Jeez...this got kinda long. Whelp.. TL:DR: Your songs are awesome, your songs inspired me. Keeping singing or not up to you. I would love it if you continued to sing though.

Continue to strive for what you wanna do, nothing is impossible. You and your music is what I look forward to, especially when I hit a roadblock when drawing. I've actually been working on a lot of drawings based on your originals. Your originals are the best songs for me to listen to and I end up drawing what i'm feeling or mentally seeing. I can relate with the things you said, but instead of music its art I’ll usually paint or draw but I’ve been in a sort of slump just laying in bed and having time pass by feeling unmoved and unmotivated so I’m just stuck in a loop

I don't know how much of this reply will still apply to your personal notes but I'll send this anyway: Hey Jayn. I'm sure you'll be able to produce more produce more originals eventually! Being able to find people to connect with is great! I'm sorry things have been pretty bumpy for you health wise. :/ I'm sad to know you've been depressed, anxious, sick, waking up in panic, etc. I've been dealing with those things, too, lately. Don't give up! Please don't. There's so much to live for but it can be so hard to see those things at times. It's possible us living beings may not have a purpose here or for being alive, but in case we do, we shouldn't just throw our lives away. You have those who care about you and would be so sad if they lost you. If you won't keep pushing on for anything else, then do it for those who care about you. The ones who care about you (and you care about) are who you share a special connection with. Please don't give up on those connections. Music is wonderful! It's so great that creating and connecting with others gives your life meaning! :) You can get better, don't give up, and you'll find the way out of this! I also hope that some day you can focus on making the kind of music you find most fulfilling. I know you might not see this, but I want you to know that while I don't comment all the times, I love you work so much! Your originals always hit me the hardest and I love them, cause I can understand the feelings and the messages you convey in them; in my own way but I can see how you feel especially. I always read the description to them to understand your thoughts when you were making these. And all I can say is, that you are amazing and so strong! depression is hitting me hard again. i'm listening to this song again. i'm commenting again. times like these I don't know what to do other than just keep going after crying for an hour or two. it feels like a never ending cycle. at least this song reminds me i'm not alone... but in a way, that seems even more sad. others are suffering just like me if not worse.

Late to the party I know but I literally just realized you had a you-tube channel and freaked out and came over from spotify. I loved the music box metaphor! I'm so sorry you've had to deal with these issues and I think it's beautiful that you still try to help others through it all. This song is awesome! I've listened to it like 20 times already. And now i have read description. Jayn, if you have panic attacks then you should go to a doctor. Really, im serious. Some of my friends had problems with depression. Even I had some episodes with it so I have a lot experience with this illness and I understand how it feels and how it looks like. You have to do something with it or it will be getting worse and worse. Sometimes depression will let you rest even for few months, but then it will strike back. Maybe you will only need therapy but I think you should get medicines to help you with panic attacks. Please do not hesitate and go see a doctor. If it will make you feel better - I don't care much for covers, I have subscribed to listen to your originals :)

her voice is so good and some of the comment selections were fleetingly funny, but generally distracting and took away from the atmosphere just having those on the screen - tailoring to adhd zoomers or what? the song's a mix of cutesey wootsey laced with "something else is going on here..." random-access humor: fat guy needle drop - "I think there's something else going on here... are you OK, Jayn?" love the intro lyrics very much they are the most "descriptive", loved "think i'm losing my X" repetitions character is an excited overstimulated music box with a very \*dark\* (skin color) secret the quick fade in on first no-one will know is good because it's immediately followed by next lyric brown pinkamena diane pie, she opens the smile during the fade in bit love love love the chorus losing one's heart to apathy obvious parallel internet age of too much news, want SOUL in life to be amazed at things with childlike wonder apathy as a defense mechanism for repeated stressors, it's not good for a kid to be repeatedly exposed to stress they lose their sense of natural trust in the world sense of pure cutesy love light in the end, faking it turns back to bubbly music box with "quick" dark interlude emptiness that consumes has the obvious internet consumption parallel, eating away at childlike hearts hungry nom nom nom and the darkness that looms is the jews that killed jesus

Wow, I knew you were awesome, but wow. A big part of why I love your originals (although I love all your work) is how personal, and inspiring they are, even the parts that are hard, but now I'm wondering what I missed. Whenever I hear about depression, and all that other stuff, I just wonder why life, and the world can't be better, you, and those like you and the wonderful things you all create, say, and do give me hope we can make them better, and that I can be better.
