People are downplaying Pritchard but he’s got some of the most polished gym rat perimeter game in the world and practically unstoppable one on one like this. What makes it hard is all the guys with length filling the lanes and protecting bc the rim. Pritchard is as good as you can possibly be as a not too tall not too athletic white guy who honed their game to the max
He's 17 now and he's grown an inch. Now, 6 foot. His height I think will reach 6 foot 1. But, as a guard, 6 ' 1 is a good height. In 3 years, we will see how he develops. He needs to develop his upper body strength. He has pretty good footwork, very light on his feet and has good shooting form. It looks like right now, his main issue is falling for fakes. He is way too close to the offensive player when he is playing on defense, which allows him to break away with a simple fake. These are all correctable. He is only 17. He is practically a kid.
@@bigfrogcustomt-shirtssandi7182the average nba height is 6 foot 6 and guards just a little over 6 foot 2, so no, 6 foot 1 is not short for a point guard. He hasn't technically stopped growing yet as boys can grow up to until their early 20's.
Payton Pritchard is a 2nd option scorer in the nba but definetly still elite, and he plays respectable minutes. He's living the dream. 1st option scorers are simply on a whole other level and their teams literally run plays specifically for them.
I saw this kid Zhao play in the U19 Fiba World Cup and he was by far the team's best player. If he was 6'3+ then he would have a good chance of getting to the league but from what i remember he aint even breaking 6 feet
@@AZ-rg3rf The U19 Tournament was this year and he was already 18 so this video is probably older than when it was uploaded and even if he was 16 he should still be close to his peak height if not there already.
Hes 18 and 6ft right now. He might go undrafted and play in the g league I reckon. Payton is 6’1, CP is 6’ and Trae Young is 6’1 so as long as you have talent you can make it I guess.
He is listed at 6 feet tall at 17 Years old now. So, he grew a full inch in a year. Some kids experience a 3 inch growth spurt between 17-19, so it is possible he can reach 6 foot 3 or more during those years.
Crazy how a bench guard like Payton is better and I mean MUCH better than the average hooper it's so crazy it's funny. he's efficient in dribbling, taking path to rim, and shooting... and he's really physical
The kid is 16 and 5'11, he might have room to grow. Spud Webb, DJ Augustin, JJ Barea, Ty Lawson, Muggsy Bogues, Avery Johnson, Isaiah Thomas, Damon Stoudamire, Calvin Murphy. All under 6 feet tall.
At this size, he needs to be as athletic or have the motor of a JJ Barea. That or super high passing IQ, plus a jumper. Undersized guards have to now guard 1's who are 6'6", and still contribute off the bench. Not saying it's impossible, but its a hard road to the NBA. Ty Lawson is like 6'1
To quote the white mamba, "I am closer to lebron than you are to me". There's levels to this shit. Ppl always talk about how there are tons of ppl that can make the league. NO.
actually there is more than u think, but they end up in a jail/dead/not meant for the nba life/made bad life choices on the way. its actually a lot of luck to make the nba, not just the skill, but just having a role open in a team's roster and you hopefully filling it. a guard in a draft class where all or most the draft teams already have many guards probably would go over him unless he is really good, they would be looking for a big man instead
Pritchard's problem is that even though hes making his shots, all the shots hes getting are tough, thats not going to bode well for his consistency since these arent even NBA players. People dont understand the difference between rhythm buckets and regular buckets. Those are all rhythm buckets, but NBA defenses aren't going to let players like Pritchard get into a rhythm. Thats why a lot of these cats struggle in the NBA. Any NBA player can go off if they get a rhythm, but getting into rhythm is extremely hard. You're not going to make a one legged fading mid range shot over a dudes hand in the game. Hes practicing the wrong shit, he needs to be practicing reading a defense and being a floor general. Not over dribbling 1 on 1 moves into a step back. Hes practicing to become Shai Alexander, when he should be practicing to be a solid role player
@@patricksantino4131 True but KD is 7 feet and moves faster than this kid. You seen KD in high school? This kid is 5'11 without a left going one direction or pulling up. He looked slower than the taller kid in the video.
Kids defense is terrible. All that wanna be Steph curry in the backyard doesn't impress when you give up points as easily as you can score. He can run off screens for threes at best
