Each JR group company has own large scale railroad museum, each with different exhibits. This is the JR West's museum. If you want to see the history of Tokaido-Shinkansen or Superconducting Maglev, you should go to the JR Tokai's museum, and if you want to see East Japan trains such as E5 or E1 series(MAX), you should go to the JR East's museum. This museum used to be a steam locomotive rail yard, so it has a very extensive steam locomotive exhibit.
Thanks for bringing us there. The last time I visited, the museum was still under its old name of Umekoji Rail Museum. I have been following their improvement and the current exhibition hall since, and I would love to see it for myself soon.

This museum was opened in April of 2016. Until then, the museum was called "Umekoji Steam Locomotive Museum" and mainly displayed steam locomotives. The Modern Transportation Museum in Osaka had become obsolete, so it was integrated into this museum.
