This was a good learning experience for Serena. This was the first year she participated in the slams and played a full season. Venus was really improving around this time. By the year 2000 she had reached her peak. Its a pity injuries and autoimmune disease prevented her from reaching higher heights.
Look how young they were. Never thought they would be the face of tennis back then. The media/Wta players did their best to run them out. #Williamssisters
What did the media do back then? Today I only know media who are deep in the sisters‘ asses with their noses. At least in the USA. They could murder someone in the middle of the 5th Avenue and those corrupt media types would still find excuses for them.
@@carrerau7138 My apologies, my intentions was not to cause friction, but sorry that the U.S.A gave you a 1-sided opinion on a 20 year career. There are so many stories out there for you to look up fans/ players/commentators negative behavior towards the Williams family.
@@bklynfinesse8709 Except the usual racists and transgender activists in internet forums I don’t know whom you mean? The media? TV commentators? Tournament organizers?
Im pretty sure that this is the first tennis match i saw on television. I remember seeing these 2 black girls playing against this red backdrop and they were hitting the ball harder and grunting and i was just fixated on the TV.
The first tennis match I saw on TV was Navratilova vs. Graf in the USO 86 semi finals. I remember these 2 white women in Louis Armstrong stadium playing giving it all for about 2 hours, great stuff!
