Chasing Vergil isn't really hard. What's insane about this video is the amount of control Sakaki has over Vergil in this video, and the precise, creative, aesthetic way he manipulates Vergil and uses him to make the fight more spectacular. Vergil is just dancing in his palm the entire time, almost every single one of his attacks were accurately predicted before they even happen, such as making Vergil taunts back because Sakaki taunted before he even started using doppelganger, so he is stuck in taunt back animation while Sakaki takes out the clone.
The finale of Sakaki countering Vergil's Judgement Cut End using Dante's Judgement, with the music build up and the arena turning purple is the most epic thing I've ever seen in a DMC fight.
@@freemank8207 pretty much all d "experts" are juz doing plainly royalguard and wait for openings(dont get me wrong, it really does takes time to master it), its gotten very mainstream while sakaki created his own combo and use the risky sorta counter as well as playing super aggressively, all that while staying stylish AF
xXSoulDitzXx i play pretty aggressive too now but at first I did what you’re talking about, rg and wait for an opening, I did that when I was learning certain enemies attack pattern so there’s nothing wrong with doing that.
@@alexzz6230 its on reddit, juz search the title Farzad K mentioned, and yeah its nothing wrong, everyone got their own stylish combos, and its fun watching everyone own specific combos
@@alexzz6230 There's nothing wrong with that, but it's much more easier and practical than what Sakaki is doing, which requires much better understanding and judgement. Royalguarding is no big deal, even more so in DMC5, since you're not screwed for messing up unlike 3/4. 夜耀空明's Royal blocking against DMC3 Vergil was far more impressive.
So much to love and to learn here! - Badass intro - All DMC3 themes, one for each phase - Slowmo backslide - Royal Releasing him out of airplane mode before he even charges at you - Dodging JCE with shotgun rolls into Real Impact - Royal revenge kills the doppleganger - Finishing with JCE vs Judgement Perfect fight, probably the best I've seen against Vergil. Even better than Brea's, and god do I love her fight!
2:36 Vergil : lol you're trying to just guard my Judgement End again like other? Dante : *Sliding his way through to Vergil* Vergil : What Form of power is this? btw I love the way he only uses DT when Vergil start using one , it make the battle look much more dramatic.
While interesting idea, the use of it to dodge isn't that special. What is special is that he predicted the time he would use it and spaced himself naturally, so that he ends just behind Vergil when it is finished.
@@swiggityswo9558 His DT doesn't end if he doesn't perform a certain set of combo. I tried parrying him constantly to disrupt him from completing the combo and his DT lasted more than 10 mins and kept going.
Does Gun Stinger have s? I'm confused at how he dodged that attack. Going frame by frame, he briefly switches to swordmaster in the middle of the slide..
*This is half an analysis:* I can say without a doubt that this is the most technical, creative, difficult, and flawless Vergil fight in DMC5. The sheer insight of enemy behaviour, creativity to come up unthinkable ways to deal with them, precision to execute the planned scenarios, judgement to act it out in midst of the battle, reaction for these interactions to be possible, and the consistency too pull them without fail throughout the fight, is simply unbelievable. All the blocks are perfect and that's only the least impressive aspect of this fight. For me, this is truly the first Vergil fight where Vergil is fought not like a boss where you find an opening to attack and combo, but like an equal where you're actively taking it head on and dance with like a cutscene (AYU also deserves a mention for his SoS Cavalier Angelo before Sakaki though). Simply the work of a God. I can't believe this only took about a week. "Highlights", some more obvious and have been done before, but writing them down nonetheless in case people missed it: 0:22 Walking sideways to evade Phantom Swords 0:26 Air trick in advance, predicting Vergil's Air Trick. Also do a clash with him, then does a side flip to stall time and look flashy while Vergil sheaths, so they can trick back at same time again to *stay in perfect sync.* 0:30 Although using Interceptors to cancel out Vergil's swords is nothing special, how Sakaki went out of his way to activate Sword Formation the exact same time Vergil summons his first sword deserves a mention. 0:48 Backslide finisher breaking the threshold is not a coincidence. 1:37 interesting setup of using Royal Revenge into revolver to cross under Vergil 2:01 DTing at same time, this is a recurring theme in this fight, where Sakaki imitates Vergil's way of fighting (including phantom swords vs Sword formation as well) 2:05 To match Vergil's Trick Up, Sakaki jumped up in advance, and Air Tricked higher to evade Vergil, then stepped on him and skystarred, and rainstormed the swords that he knew would appear. Don't ask me how he knew Vergil would do that before he even tricked up. 2:10 Small detail, but good choreography by using shotgun and airtrick/dashes while Vergil missed his Rising Star, instead of standing still and regrouping thoughts 2:12 Fourhanded vs Sword Storm 2:17 One of the best sequences I've seen in DMC5 so far. Mustang→Rainstorm→Skystar→Helm Breaker, the sync in the end is absolutely perfect. It's even better that both used summoned swords at same time as well. 2:28 I don't need to say a thing. 2:37 Using Cut-in to dodge when you could've used simpler ways like blocking or dashing, brave and adventurous, like everything else in this video. On top of that amazing insight to predict Vergil would Judgement Cut End and 1: Ignite Balrog in Advance; 2: Space perfectly (as well as fluidly and naturally so you don't even notice it) so that he lands right next to Vergil to Real Impact immediately without moving. 3:00 Sakaki predicted when Vergil would use doppelganger, and taunted in advance, so Vergil taunts back, then proceeded to lay waste to the doppelganger while Vergil is stuck in taunt animation? Wow. 3:15 This sequence (Dash → Hightime → Skystar → FlipJump → TrickDown → GunStinger) to evade quad judgement cut is fucking awesome. 3:37 Again, predicted the Judgement Cut End, for this spectacular finish. It would be more accurate to name this video "Dance with Vergil". Currently, I don't believe there is another person that understands M19 Vergil better than Sakaki. P.S. Also be sure to check out Sakaki's Credo Boss Fight video as well! *Arguably the best one even to this day,* very technical and creative, great use of reversals, "footsies", and Lucifer timing. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ken8sOu0x-8.html
@@ZiexCee 1. It's quite apparent and have been done by people before (including Vergil M19 speedruns that uses it so Dante can do red hot night without interruptions) so I diddn't feel like mentioning. 2. I still kind of did, at 2:01 inside parentheses (and to prove it I hadn't even edited my comment yet).
@@ZiexCee After thinking about it a little, I'll edit it in anyways, since Sakaki actually took extra steps to activate sword formation the same moment Vergil summons his first sword.
@@yohanbernanos2238 Highly recommend that you check out stuff from Sakaki and others from DMC4 as well, such as Sakaki's Credo fight (which is probably still the best Credo fight to this day). I've compiled a list of players and indepth analyses of combos and techniques here, be sure to check out: www.reddit.com/r/DevilMayCry/comments/a7u7z5/best_dmc_player/ec5v2eq/
3:00 Making a separate post because predicting Vergil's Doppelganger and taunting in advance so that Vergil taunts back, thus making him immobile while Sakaki kills the doppelganger with Royal Revenge is *ABSOLUTELY GENIUS.*
Not sure if this applies to Vergil but moving him offscreen significantly reduces aggro AI in DMC5. Enemies cannot attack you from offscreen (with some slight exceptions like Lusachia and Baphomet if they’ve charged up)
Actually there is music phases for ''the duel'' (default theme for Vergil fight) when he goes DT and summons his clone but it would be cool to have trasitions between the classics
3:01 amazing tactics : he taunts right before Vergil summons his clone, so Vergil will taunt back, and he have to deal only with the clone itself, not both at the same time.
That was amazingly stylish and cinematic. From countering Vergil's summoned swords with your Sword Formations, going DT along with him, sick combos, to even using Dante's ultimate move Judgement while Vergil uses his ultimate Judgement Cut End... Along with the music phases from DMC3 and that badass intro. Well done, sir. Kudos to you. Itsuno would have been proud.
THIS IS SOME CINEMATIC LEVEL OF GAMEPLAY. But most of all.... Those bgm, those things.... Where it all began... And yet, until now.. Its still perfection.
Things I, as a decent-ish Dante player and newcomer to the series, audibly gasped at: 1. That opening clash, and did not know you could dodge to the side in the air. 2. The Gunslinger summon swords cancelling Vergil’s attacks, and that lovely voice line - is that specific to this counter, or is this something else? 3. I would never have thought to even dare Quadruple S some combos on Vergil. 4. The multi-slash Royal Guard blocking. This is just a personal bit of awesomeness for me, cause I can’t figure out the timing to save my life (in some instances, literally). 5. Air-Tricking to get a height advantage on Vergil’s downslash. 6. Royal Releasing Vergil in mid-air before he can even start flying. 7. This is honestly the biggest one - Coyote-A’s slide in to avoid the Judgement Cut End. AGH, I am in AWE of this man! I assumed the slides had I-Frames attached to them, but to see it proven SO hard and SO stylishly - truly, a work of art! 8. The Sin Devil Trigger Judgement as a finishing move. I’ve seen it used before, but with the music, and that samurai showdown-esque “Who’s gonna get cut first?” way? Brilliant. As someone else said long before me, this feels much more like an actual canonical fight between the two brothers, a dance if you will. You’re not just styling on Vergil in an endless combo, but you’re keeping pace and allowing him to move, rather than just dominating the fight outright. You go on both the offensive and the defensive, and it is exhilarating to watch. Thank you for this, friend. You made my day.
These things are only the tip of the iceberg, and not at all the hardest/most creative parts of the video. What you only see is just the surface of DMC, the things you mentioned are actually only the basics of high level play. I recommend that you give my comment in the video a read to understand some of it. Take just release, for example, Sakaki in DMC4 even did buffered reverse release twice in row, both after doing a stinger, which meant he calculated the release timing like 1 second prior. That's much, much harder than timing just relase/just guard. Most veteran players can do just guard/just release easily (including myself which I don't even consider skilled). I also recommend giving this thread a read which has player rankings and deep breakdown for some of DMC4/5 combos. Though the post is rather oudated, it holds some ground. In a DMC5 combo, for example, Sakaki made round trip (sword throwing move) miss on purpose so when it flies back like a boomerang, it hits the enemy in the most crucial timing. You and donguri are the two reasons I learn DMC5 combos everyday. Two distinct playstyles, both equally effective. One with a brute force approach, the other focuses on stylish takedowns. Props to you, man
3:41 Can I just say: Holy Fuck Judgement Cut End vs Judgement This was the most badass thing I've seen for the month. Never have I ever seen a Vergil Battle this well made and so stylish. Even from Donguri. Kudos on mixing up the theme songs and not just leaving it as Vergil Battle 2. You are in my eyes *The Best* Dante Player there is for DMC5.
Stuff like this (e.g. His Credo fight and insane combo MADs) are the reason why even some of the best players consider Sakaki the best player in 4. It's just that most things he did in 4 (especially the micro-movements) were too difficult to perceive for average players and thus didn't look impressive to them. Even in 5, there are plenty of details that you lilely missed as well.
I always thought Sakaki was better than Donguri with Vergil in 4SE but I always liked Donguri’s Dante more. This video changed my mind. They are both Sons of Sparda though.
@@Daboy804 Sakaki's best character was always Dante, and in terms of combo and Credo boss fight, Sakaki's videos were more technical, higher skilled and took more effort (Donguri is usually just saved clips from streaming). Donguri makes a better streamer, but his productions were generally nowhere as hard as Sakaki and many other combo makers in the scene. Donguri is extremely attractive to casual people in DMC4 because of his abundant use of Guardflying (the move where you see Donguri zipping around), which is while a mid-high level tech that does require some skill, something most high level players can do without effort. In fact, I'm a very unskilled player, and even I can guardfly: twitter.com/GradationAir/status/1115541236713054208 Most top level players just don't bother with it as much, or use it for precise movement (that you will probably not notice at all due to how seamless they make them), not just to zip around looking cool. Sakaki did do the whole zipping thing in some of his videos in 2013 (such as Combo MAD II), when he was relatively green. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vvndA87ZLK8.html
@@Daboy804 It's because of Sakaki's deep understanding of the game as well as usage of many difficult techs for all three characters, that he was one of the *three* most popular picks for the best DMC4 player among top level players, another one is *Taka,* who is very unknown to casual players unfamiliar with the scene (he got barely 100 subs), but is arguably the most revolutionary figure in DMC4 scene due to the way his combo involve positioning to insane levels that abuses hitbox collisions, that caused a huge leap in the combo meta, and even Sakaki looks up to him. Another popular player that a number of vets consider best is *ArrancarDante/nino,* who also is very unknown outside the scene.
@@yubinary5385 The Chinese scene is insanely high leveled too. 2white probably holds the best Cavalier Angelo fight to this day, and even he is a big Sakaki fan. www.bilibili.com/video/av53757728/
This was literally jaw dropping. So many things I didn’t even know were possible and that opening clash was pure motivation. You are a true son of Sparda.
I can not describe how proud I am of this! The flawless execution and the amount of work I'm sure went into this is extraordinary, the editing is outstanding and your attention to every god damn detail is so exceptional! You, with this video alone, take the throne as one of (if not THE) greatest Devil May Cry expert in history. Thank you for existing!
This is probably the most impressive and beautiful looking DMC 5 Vergil fight clip I've ever seen. In my opinion, the most of thought, creativity, art sense, and effort put into these videos I've encountered yet. You just get a like, a share, a favorite up, and a potential subscriber.
I know how hyperbolic it sounds, but this might be the best video you’ve uploaded. From start to finish, it was amazing. So many things put a smile on my face.
This is one Vergil Replay I'll always come back to. 00:57 flows so beautifully, the music sinks nicely, and I'm a sucker for good royal guard play. I love it.
This is still to this day the best representation of the final fight between these two. Sakaki will always hold a spot as one of the best DMC players of all time.
Looking back this fight felt more like a freaking cutscene, seriously using Summon Sword vs Summon Swords, using DT the moment phase 2 kicks in only to drop out to show off royal guard to his flight and that ending. Just magnificent!
This is quite possibly the most well-choreographed and skilled Devil May Cry video on RU-vid. Almost a year after uploading it, I still can't stop watching it.
Hideaki Itsuno and the whole team behind of Devil May Cry 5 are a true legends! Not only they did surpassed my expectations, but also made me to want Devil May Cry 6. I hope Itsuno will also bring back Onimusha franchise to life.
Instantly subscribed holy hell! Not only did that look like it was scripted like any other cutscene jn the game but you did it all in the contexts of the actual gameplay! SSS Rank 100% deserved!
The amount of practice that it takes to get this good and this accurate is impressive. I understand a little about it in my stint into Nioh. Your gameplay is impressive af!
Now this is the real deal. Well done. No repetition. Most videos I've seen repeat the same combo over and over again or find a trick to kill Vergil the easy way. This was downright badass and straightforward. And I loved that about it. Well done.
The most stylish way to fight this boss, the stylish combos, the music, especially when Vergil transforms into Devil Trigger and his 2nd theme plays. Couldn't ask for more.
When the timing, ending and the blend of these music were ao perfect that you cant even hesitate that it really looked like a cutscene of a historical battle of Legends..
I just want to let you know that it's been 3 yerars and nobody has ever done this fight better than you ever have. The purple ending is yours and yours alone
It's the most dramatic M19 fight I have ever seen. The way you predict Vergil's move and the music for 3 stages of the fight is epic!!! It should be added to the cutscene.
Normal youtubers: *plays The Duel theme throughout the video* Me: Meh, used to it by now. Donguri: *plays DMC 3 vergil battle 2 theme throughout the video.* Me: Good times. Sakaki: *Plays all DMC 3 vergil battle themes and transitions it beautifully as Vergil is left with 50% and 25% of his health* Me: *Nostalgia Bomb*.
So I came back on this video after watching this thousand time after I downloaded the video. This battle is the best battle on gaming history. This battle video is th most beautifull and the most technical gameplay video I have seen in my entire life. I’m so proud that someone is terribly good at this best 2019 game. I’m so grateful that u did this video. Must be many try. I did my first no dmg run with Nero against Vergil and I can say this is so hard to do what you want to do to make a beautiful gameplay. Thank you for this video it will be in my head for the rest of my life
its honestly fucking crazy how this man did this, like I'm no dmc pro but I know very fucking well that to make a fight like this where it seems so fucking even, even though your not getting hit or anything really, to build this level of tensity is very hard to do. And this man did it all, expertly.
I don't know what exact word to describe this vid but this looked so "clean". The attacks are very calculated, not just overwhelmingly releasing barrage of attacks.
I didn't realize that little smile from Vergil hides behind a whole other story and realization thx to the manga " visions of V" .. truly a masterpiece
