My understanding is that thermal stone colour is based on the difference between stone temperature and ambient world temperature [dontstarve.fandom.com/wiki/Thermal_Stone]. Perhaps testing would have been more helpful if ambient world temperature was also displayed alongside player temperature. It's nice to see the big difference insulating clothing makes after the thermal stone has become cold.

If you let the thermal stone heat up next to 4 scaled furnaces, it will last you 8 mins 30 secs.
