Great video, as always. You’re one of my favorite resources for Japanese. I know you are interested in languages as well, so I just wanted to mention that while すぎる usually translates as “too” in English, the すぎて。。。した/出来ない pattern translates to: It’s *so*... (that) I.... (It’s so hot I could die! / This cake is so sweet that I can’t eat it.)

It's too cold that I cannot sleep is not an English phrase. You will usually hear people substitute the word "too" with "so" in this situation. "It is SO cold that I can't sleep". If you want to say "It is too cold X....." we usually use the word "and" to combine too-cold as a single adjective and place the word "and" after, followed by the topic. "It's too cold and I can't sleep". -You're welcome.

I can't thank you enough for the content you put out. It's helps tremendously. My only suggestion, and you've done it in a few but not all videos, is to say the word you're going to use in your test sentences. I'm to the point where I can look them up, but it may help new learners.

Why is it かっこよすぎる?
@philippebarbie3829
@philippebarbie3829 3 года назад
Because the いい in かっこいい comes from the word "good". And as told in the video いい is an exception that transforms to よすぎる . いい almost always is treated as よい when being transformed. It's always the exception.
