For those of you who cannot speak Japanese, Archer: I've seen it several times. Meaningless murder, meaningless equality, meaningless happiness! Even though I rejected it, it was shown to me! That wasn't what I wished for. I didn't become a Guardian for that! Shirou: Archer, what you're regretting is that I can't lose. I can lose to someone else. But I can't lose against myself!
All that is missing now is a visual novel that shows how Emiya Shirou becomes Archer after being betrayed by everyone again and again- even though he swore to never regret. Kinoko Nasu and Urobuchi Gen excel in writing tragedy, after all.
All I wanna say is that when I first watched this vid I was like on my second year of HS many blue moons ago and I’m really happy that I was able to find it thx again for this awesome MAD
Unlimited Blade Works and Heavens Feel are different chapters of the story, alternative stories, although what is revealed in each about the characters is the same for all stories. For instance, you learn in Unlimited Blade Works that Archer is actually Shirou from the Future, and although that isn't explained or mentioned in the Fate route, it's technically the same for the fate route.
Although UBW seems to be the most awesome storyline of the three, Heaven's Feel actually is WAY better than it first seems. I encourage everyone to play through Heaven's Feel if possible.
Archer was going on about how he fought throughout history, fighting to protect humanity from destruction. It could just mean that he made an appearance during the French Revolution for one reason or another.
One of? This *is* the best F/SN mad...I always see people link to this one and if you're a F/SN fan and haven't seen ya pretty much live under a rock. And doing that on the internet is pretty bad.
Sadly no, EMIYA is already outside the concept of time, thus Rin saying that if Archer dies now everything is for nothing, since archer technically speaking is only a vessels that contains the what makes EMIYA. That's why if a servant times in next war if summoned again they won't retain any memory (save for Saber since she's still alive). That's why the ending is quite bittersweet and cool.
yeah i was just saying what i thought from y point of view if you knew archer came from the ilya route but didnt know how exactly that small portion of the vid can be intense
THIS IS AWESOME !!! I'm still trying to chose which I prefer between Heaven's feel and Unlimited Blade Works... I first prefered HF but there are just too many Archer and Lancer moments for me to choose... And Heaven's feel good ending has that indescreptible "harem feeling" Sakura, Rin PLUS Rider... Shirou's gonna get some fun...
The visual novel is... well... Fate/stay night. That's what it was originally - the anime was adapted from the VN. There's also Fate/hollow ataraxia, a VN sequel, and Fate/zero, a light novel prequel.
"Rin was most likely summoned a different Archer class servant " Not necessarily. During Archer's timeline, he could be also a Shiro that met with this same Archer, but only later it hit him that it was himself... when he already became the "Archer" he knew from the War
@wisefelipe You realize it when exploring the side material and it is slightly hinted in the game itself. The Servants aren't all Heroic Spirits. There's Heroes and Anti-Heroes, that's why a class like Assassin and Avenger could be summoned and why there are Evil and Neutral Spirits ("mass murderers are also called heroes" as Rin said). Emiya Shirou was bound as a Counter Guardian and forced to be a cleaner, a spirit who merely murders people to fix tragedies.
@nikoniko667 I did play the three routes, maybe I missed something but I always had the impression that Emiya was a regular Heroic Spirit, and like all other had no memories of when he was called into the world, the reason he knew all that is that he already knew it when he was alive. Anyway, do you remember in which route/part of the game this counter-guardian thing is said?
I feel it is the same Shirou each time. The situation just makes him act differently in each ark. If not it would have to react MUCH differently tot toshaka in Heavens feel then he would have in UBW, for being what he felt for her in UBW...

The gist of it is the Emiya Shirou who has become the heroic spirit "Archer" will always exist no matter what is done. Even Archers own plan to try and create a temporal anomaly by killing his younger self had less that a 1% chance to succeed and archer wasnt even sure if it ever had the chance to.
yeah i guess that is , because he came back and also knew Ilya so i guess he was the shirou back then who had Arturia as servant grew up like that and came back to save himself and the others (even tho i wanna play the games i cant find em T_T so i know only cause of the anime which is not like the novel as they told me ...T___T and i'm an archers fan :P)
@LeonGun8 I knew about the things you said, but I had thought that both Heroes and "anti-heroes" became heroic spirits, with no distinction between the two types after they were dead. I thought every heroic spirit got called as cleaners, not just the "bad ones". What does the "good" heroic spirits like Cu Chullain or Hercules do then?
Basically though: Fate Route: Original Story, About Saber/Shirou UBW Route: About Archer/Shirou/Tohsaka Heavens Feel: About Sakura/Shirou They are only in the Visual Novel, not in the anime, the anime/manga kind of summarizes them together...sort of. But mainly follows the Fate route. There is also Fate/Zero which is what happened in the Grail War before this, that is a NovelNovel. Google BakaTsuki and find it on their website, they are translating it.
@geenius3ab Even though all signs piont toward Archer being the future of Shirou after fate arc ended, Kinoko himself had stated that Archer may or may not be the result of any endings in the game. I guess TM fans in Japan were constantly arguing on this topic and he wanted to put an end to it.
@vergilheartnet The protagonist of FSN is Shirou, and Archer is a possible future of Shirou. Archer made a pact with the world, but the protagonist might not (eg. Heaven's Feel Shirou is unlikely to become like Archer). Either way, Shirou will NOT become Archer, they are separate entities.

Stockbomber san let me ask something, those scenes where shirou turns into archer, i mean his hair becomes white and says in that deserted city bathing in blood. Are those scenes are originaly somewhere or you edited it? If u did them where did u found the ruined city picture? thank you -btw i love this amv-favorite 5/5
To summarize the replys before me: It's 3 alternate possibilityes how the grail war could have happened. While route "fate" is the base story the other two are "what if"s -Fate--> mostly the same as the anime -UBW--> the sory of archer and shirou+in this route Tohsaka will be Emiya-kun's pair. Basicly it's the story of shirou's ideal to become a hero. -Heaven's feel --> the superdetailed explanation how the war is and a love story between Sakura & Shirou. UBW and HF are better than fate-
Mhmm If Rin summoned the archer we know, however shiro didn't realize it until later, it will just keep looping until archer makes a perfect plan since he repeats the same scenario over and over again and learn from the past archer mistakes. It will go on and on until he is satisfied. Time traveling is confusing.
@nikoniko667 From what I get, that's what happens to every Heroic Spirit, they are called into this world when there's something bad to eliminate/clean-up, I don't see what makes Emiya different to the others yet
@jvn09211 there are two more other routes besides from fate, the UBW and heaven's feel, to unlock UBW just pick "stop saber" choice when saber was going to attack RIN(forgot what night), you could only see this choice however if you finished the fate route. To unlock HF you need to go back from the beginning and choose go to sakura instead of going to work and on the other days all of your choices must be in favor for sakura and in no time youre in HF route.
to tell the truth idk. in heavens feel. he says too stop this from happening agian means he went trough this already? and the part where he said he must kill things like this early when he was going to kill zouken. my gues he is from all arcs since he has all the information from everything that happens or will happen
I suppose it could be true, heroic spirits are untouchable above Alaya and Gaia in the throne of heroes. So if Emiya were to become one he'd no longer be a counter guardian. But since EMIYA already exists I'm not sure there's any way to stop that existence; time travel is kinda wonky and Nasu has never been clear on how it works.
@nikoniko667 I'm not sure what you meant exactly by counter-guardian, but if you are talking about his "job" of being called whenever the world is in trouble, that's what Heroic Spirits are supposed to be for, so every Heroic Spirit is a counter-guardian. Anyway, Archer does not remember anything of his time as a heroic spirit, his last memories are of his life, the reason he knows so much is because he knew of these things when he was still alive (since he took place in the Holy Grail War)
@geenius3ab It's said that Emiya was the result of Ilya's path that was taken out from the game, I think it may be true, even though the Fate path is the one of three that would make more sense, it still didn't make THAT much sense, in Fate Shirou never becomes the avenger type. In a way, the Heaven's Feel path is the most similar to the little we know of Emiya's story, but the values are completely different so it couldn't be that one.
you could only play the UBW route if you have finished the fate route, for the HF route you need to finish the first 2 routes. you could find the diversion road between fate and UBW on the day when saber was just summoned and was to attack archer, if you let her attack archer-fate, if you stop her-UBW*note that you could only see this choice after finishing the fate route, FOr the HF, starting from day 1 you should have more time for sakura and try visiting her house often, that would lead you.
Lulz 1 month reply XP Actually the first thing that enter my head is "Cool we would see Shirou became Archer" but when i tell my other friend that also played FSN he said "So Shirou's going to take Ilya too? Oh Yeah!!!" I was like O.o at the time XP
@twinroaxas2000 and what if archer traveled and retained the memory of the archer in the fate rute?? tough in all rutes shirou has the posibility of becoming archer fate the most
@SindarinElealar Wait, I heard from someone saying that Shiro were to become a real proper heroic spirit without assistance from Alaya or Gaia, the contract with Alaya can be broken and EMIYA will be able to rest in peace, is that true?
@HolyDeviant Really? I thought Archer was what Shirou would become if Shirou stayed true to his beliefs of becoming a "hero". From that point I would suspect for Shirou to make the pact with the world and become a counter servant?
@HolyDeviant That's wrong, Archer is always the same archer, he only reacts depending on the choices you make, moreover its stated there are a countless number of alternate universes, Archer is a Shirou from a different universe never the same exact shirou in route, Hes not the Emiya Shirou of the fate, Unlimited Blade works, or heavens feel routes, im pretty sure that much was plain as day when i went over it.
