The ending is mostly left up to the imagination, so it's up to the player to make a canon ending because they is no wrong answer.

In an official orchestra of this game that took place in Japan, in the end they told unpublished and canonical material of nier automata, there it was said that in the end they recovered their memory and lived together

I think i've got a idea for a dlc It's a different timeline, where the war against the machines still going on, everything is like in the original, until the appeance of a mysterious robot being, who wants to help yorha in the war, but truly this "robot" has his onw ideas in head, and obviously 2b and 9s will be involved.

@@collinsiemaszko7007 in short words, this "android" is really a replicant (from the original nier) who expose the truth about humanity, androids get mad and now this being wants to erase all other androids. 2b and 9s begins to have feelings for each other, and this adventure will unite them more

I never got the "they may end up the same" thing because it makes zero sense. 2B even when YoRHa was a thing didn't want to do her mission and hesitated more than once meaning that she is NOT a slave to her programing and was just following orders she couldn't refuse unless she goes rogue which was out of the question. The very mission of "E" androids is to execute traitors and to become a traitor means that you must have free will more or less. There is no YoRHa, there is no mission anymore and besides the Commander told them before going down - leave and survive. The events in the game tell me that they are not slaves to a programing but more human like, with their own free will following their purpose. In the game your mission is to kill machines as much as possible and yet... here you are... helping Pascal and others from his village. The Machine in the canyon basically tells 2B - i am ready for you to kill me since this is your purpose after all. 2B replies - i wont attack you because you are not a threat. They live a life together, centuries to be exact. "Emil heads" lvl 4 story mentions seeing a female android dressed in black with a familiar face but really can't remember her because of losing his memory. Mind you this takes place 477 years in the future. Some say it's A2 but she is not dressed in black and her survival is up to us to decide meaning that it should be a character 100% canonically surviving. Other claim that it is another 2B model but honestly i think 2E, 9S and A2 are the only YoRHa androids that exist now. They didn't survive the Logic virus, they died and got restored again. Other androids didn't have that luck. Add the Logic virus + the other Pods who commited Order 66 on all surviving androids to complete Project YoRHa, it is safe to assume that it is indeed 2B. And if she is around 477 years in the future surely 9S is there as well because she doesn't want to live without him. The only danger to them are the other Pods wanting to finish off all androids but i don't see them much of a threat. Even if 2B was a slave to her mission 9S can easily rewrite that with his hacking skills. He can destroy the logic virus, surely he can do that with the help of the two pods...

@@terraindomitus3758 IDK if you played the game but each weapon when upgraded gives us little information about things. For example 2B's personal two swords give information about 2B and 9S and their relationship. There is a Emil boss fight that you can trigger. He drops fist weapons as a reward called - Emil heads - because they are literally heads of Emil. When you upgrade it to lvl 4 it gives information from the future in which 477 years from the events of the game, an Emil spots a female android with black clothes. Since all Emil's share copies of information he states that he knows her from somewhere with her serious look on her face but can't really remember completely because he has lost some parts of that memory. Suffice to say only three YoRHa survived the game - 2 females (2B and A2) and 9S. It ain't A2 because officially you can decide her fate and she doesn't wear black clothes and thus the only canon survivor is 2B and 9S. 2B fits the description perfectly and she did interract with Emil many times. And it ain't any random android from the Resistance. They don't wear black, black clothes is a YoRHa thing. You can google the weapon and check it yourself if you want.

Example, those 2 android who sell drugs and hyped af, somehow after the virus breakout, if u come back to them, they were still there. Some theories stated that they became immue to logic virus from using drug too much xD

@@nezumi4951 Those are YoRHa androids or Resistance Androids because as far as i know the Logic Virus mainly aimed for YoRHa. Resistance androids are okay, those who didn't get eaten that is.

If you didn’t know already, he likes playing with our feelings. Leaving us devastated after finishing any of the games. Hey at least Automata has a “happier” ending than Replicant. Like the world is doomed in replicant, but at least they have each other is fine, but not for me.

It’s not in the epilogue of ending E 2B gets fixed right along with A2 and 9s. But 9s isn’t active since his memories are gone or can’t be found since they got messed up in the fight

They are returned to life in the final ending of the game. Then they live together.

She dies in everyone's playthrough. After that if you want happy end you need to watch some guides how to achieve ending E Sorry if I misunderstood your comment I'm not a native english speaker
