Its pretty amazing that the link is almost automatic, all the driver has to do is deploy it and move the train close enough. It tickles my engineer bits.
if they are capable to calibrate them, every time they have to replace them after a bird strike or (Suicide), the TGV specially Thalys mechanic is lazy, they install the gate, without calibrating them, so you can see the conductor, now and then kick the hatch.
those are for blocking the noise the pantographs make at high speed and to break up shockwaves, both to make the train quieter and to prevent the pantograph from disturbing the overhead line too much
@Random Stuff I actually work on trains as a technician. Still prefer my Volvo estate as I value personal space here in the fresh air of northern Europe. But you do your own thing 🤭
