Well you are all calling the zoo with this issue were you able to ask when they were relocating Gentaro? If he's in any way responsible for what's going on with Momo, perhaps they will answer that. Or in general what their plans with Gentaro are. We are but viewers. Those of you who are close and film these videos have the capability to talk to keepers and get questions answered for us. Not sure they'll answer you but it's worth a try.

You don't really think they're going to give you the truth right? They have to protect the well-being of their animals. While there possibly is nothing wrong, they're certainly not going to throw it out there.

Gorillas dont go "in heat" they have normal ovulation cycles like humans. SHE will go into "eustress", or "OVULATION" just like a human, then shed it and have a period... just like a human. During that time, just like a HUMAN he will be hyper sexual to her movements and smells. She dosnt stya ovulating for the rest of her life until she mates. Dont get me wrong, he may be horny, but hes not in "heat".

I'm sure the zookeepers did really already something and his vet was really checking and medical examing him and seemingly with a positive (and no alarming) result. I hope Momotaro is all okay. My confusion is based on newspapers, mentionned by K. Schallert in conjunction with the healthy condition of his father and that trembling videos of Momotaro (and, as far I can oversee this, no videos with other trembling gorillas in other zoos). That's all.

Yes, also Momo has done this before when he was approached by Genki and she was doing the booty shake to try and entice him. He was shaking too. There is a video somewhere of this

Only the knowing that other silverbacks in the wild and in other zoos worldwide shows the same kind of tremblings will ensure me. That Momo trembled before is no proof at all😔 maybe this was also a seizure shakings sign, one of a series of others...I really don't know what to think about this. The vet confirmed he was okay. That's all what we really know until now.

You're ignorance is off the charts. Even a simple Google search would tell you that 70% of male gorillas in captivity DIE from Heart Disease between the ages of 20-35. It is a gut issue related to diet. They all eat the same thing but it affects the adult male differently. Bottom line. Momo is in serious trouble and must be looked at immediately. If enough of us write or call the Kyoto Zoo maybe they will DO SOMETHING before it is too late. Just think, if Genki is pregnant, and Momo is gone, how will Gentaro and Kinny even function. Gentaro will have to try and take Momos position as leader of the family, but he is still just a child himself. It will be disastrous if Momo dies. Let's push that Zoo to examine Momo, and slso to improve their living environment. It's awful, and much to small, and these beautiful creatures are UNDER stimulated and BORED to death! Mostly tho, Momotoros health is a very serious concern. Although heart disease is nearly absent in wild populations, it's the leading killer of captive male gorillas around the world. It's more than a seizure, it's a heart problem. 70% of Male gorillas in captivity between 20-35 years die from heart issues. This is very serious and we should ALL bombard the Kyoto Zoo with emails and phone calls until they DO SOMETHING!

@@pinkyboose No you wernt joking, you were mistaken. Gorilla males don't go "in heat" at ALL. The females have normal estrus times like a HUMAN. You know estrus means ovulation, right? They have a normal 3 day ovulation time, then shed the lining like a human and become infertile again until the next monthly cycle in the middle the male is in no way hyper sensitive to the female. Yo uall act like female gorillas go into ovulation and stay there for... forever? until they are bred. Males of ANYTHING dont go in "heat" as they dont have uterus's...

Maybe it invokes insulin in his body-that would cause trembling... diabetics either too much or too little insulin can trigger those convulsions. Not a Dr either just throwing it out there.. I've seen them eat so many sugary fruits, was getting worried about weight/teeth, etc.
