Wow that's super fucking cool, I didn't think it was actually affecting the camera sensor I thought it was just messing with the display, it's really cool that you can save the pictures

it’s not affecting the camera’s sensor - only the display. so if you export those images, they won’t look like that - they’ll just look normal. this was a cool video, but what was misleading was him not displaying the images from the SD on a computer, as opposed to the circuit bent display. i have this same camera and performed the operations he did, hence why i can confirm this.

@@melarbi Huh. I thought it was permanent since the image was still when he took the photo (and not flickering like when the camera was moving). Do you know what kind of video signal is used to drive the lcd? Maybe its possible to capture the corrupted version off composite or something. I also wonder if you *could* affect the sensor. Would definitely wanna use some diodes or youd probably fry it.

@@nixietubes it looks “permanent” because the LCD in which he is viewing it on is circuit bent. he’s just affecting the LCD, not the actual image itself. if he wanted to affect the image he could short the image processor, but he’s not doing that in the video, he’s shorting the LCD. Trust me, i thought the same exact thing you did, and i got the same results as him, but when i viewed all the media on my computer the images looked completely normal. Recording the LCD is most definitely a valid/intuitive route. He would need a capture card or something capable of simply mirroring that display or signal and recording it. I tried it today with my analog2digital recorder and it didn’t work - perhaps it just didn’t like the unstable signal, i’m not really sure, i didn’t put much effort into it i just had the recorder laying around. I prefer to mess with the image process itself so that’s what i’m currently working on.

@@melarbi I believe you... I just meant that the mod seemed unstable since it was flickering a lot so I thought it was on the image and not the lcd. If you mean you're working on modding this camera to actually bend the image I'd love to hear updates if you get anything going!

@@nixietubes Oh okay, gotcha! Yeah i totally get you - it can be visually confusing. I ran into this same exact issues with several other cameras. Sounds good, yes i am working on this camera. I did some work earlier today and scarily enough i discharged the capacitor on myself … haha. Assuming it’s a success I’ll do my best to post results on my channel as I learn and make progress to hopefully get some nice bends on the image processor :)

I try to do this with an Olympus from 2006 with no success. I get a hard time removing the screws and get shocked 3 times. If you're planning to do this circuit bent, be careful bc you may get electrical shocked EVEN without batteries

One way to avoid being shocked is to short-circuit the big capacitor (generaly near the flash), always be carfull with big capacitors even without batteries
