フランシス・プーランクが1935年に作曲した“フランス組曲 (FP.80)” の第2曲、“パヴァーヌ”を、弾いてみました。
多分ですが、この曲のオリジナルは、小編成のオーケストラです。
この曲は、16世紀のルネッサンスの頃に生きていた作曲家、クロード・ジェルヴェーズの作品を元に、プーランクの20世紀のエッセンスを加味した素敵な作品です。
その証拠に、凄く古典的な響きの中に、歪んだ和音とかが混じってくるのが、何とも新鮮だと思います。
そして、この曲の特徴的な事は、プーランクが独奏曲だけではなく、ピアノの伴奏のパートでも良くやることなのですが、途中、和音が変化しているのに、「ペダルを踏み換えないで」という指示があることです。

まるで、水彩画の絵の具が混ざり合う事で独特の雰囲気がでるような効果があるとおもいます。

プーランクの面白さは、シャンソンの様な雰囲気のテンポが自由に動く音楽があると思えば、こう言った、一定のテンポの音楽もあり、実に多彩な魅力があると思います。
I played the 2nd piece of "Suite Francaise (FP.80)" composed by Francis Poulenc in 1935, “Pavane”.
The original of this piece was probably composed by a small orchestra. (I once played harpsichord in this piece.)
This piece is based on the work of Claude Gervaise, a composer who lived during the Renaissance in the 16th century, and Poulenc added the essence of the 20th century to it.
The evidence of this is the freshness of the distorted chords mixed in with the very classical sound.
And what is unique about this piece is that, as Poulenc often does in his piano accompaniment parts as well as in his solo pieces, there is an instruction in the middle of the piece to "do not change pedals" even though the chords are changing.
(This is from 1:03 to about 10 seconds.)
The effect is like mixing watercolor paints to create a unique atmosphere.
This piece consists of seven short pieces in all. I will post them in order from now on.
The interesting thing about Poulenc's music is that there is music that moves freely in tempo like a chanson, but there is also music with a fixed tempo like this, and I think it is truly fascinating in its variety.
