I’m from the same hometown as Sensei Benny & got to watch him fight numerous times throughout the ‘70s. He was & is a true pioneer. In retirement he went on to become arguably the best fight choreographer in Hollywood. He also developed a hybrid fighting style known as Ukidokan.
San Fernando Valley,I grew up with his cousins ,he went to Poly high school ,should have got the recognition that they gave the movie star known as Bruce ( never fought anyone ) Lee
Many will disagree with me, but I rank Benny above Bruce Lee. Bruce rarely fought full contact and what boosted his popularity was choreographed movie scenes. I’ve never seen Bruce go at it round for round. As for attitude, Bruce came across as narcissistic and arrogant. Benny, to this day is humble.
This retro-70s Martial arts stuff has me bleeding nostalgia out of my eyes.......Benny was largely a behind the scenes hero....to lay people in America. To others a hero.
I always thought Benny was that guy in the original Magnificent Seven damn I forgotten his name anyways both great Legends. He was the man the kids would follow every where?
First time I've watched this fight. That shot was nasty powerful, it looked like a perfect hit from Benny's heel. Felt bad just watching it, but I do love watching Benny Urquidez fight.
