How about Malta or HK.? They were both British overseas territories. But now their situations are very different. Malta is now still peaceful and good place for living. But HK. has been totally changed.

@@lovefreebee That maybe part of the reason. The other major reason is the defunding of the police by the democrats. Take new york city for example, about 1500 prisoners are released and moved to shelters all over new york city since May last year. That directly caused the increase of the crime rate significantly. For example, the 65 year old Asian lady (she is Filipino) was attacked by Brandon Elliot, who was convicted of stabbing his mother to death in 2002 and was released on parole recently. From what i observed, these crimes are not necessarily targeted at Chinese, but Asian people at large, especially defenseless women, old people and kids. I've been living in new york for over 10 years, and I've witnessed the city is getting more unsafe year over year recently, since Mayor Bill de Blasio took the office. Before him, mayor Rudy Giuliani and Mike Bloomberg did a great job making new york the most safe city in the world. So it's not about republicans or democrats, but we need a right mayor, who would do law and order, and justice. Unfortunately , there are so many bad politicians and political fights in this country, that ruins the normal life of normal people, including their kids and grand kids if they would live in this country! Come on, if this country is not safe to live anymore, the democracy and human rights are just baseless!
