今天跟各位講解脫道
Today I'm going to talk about
the liberative path.
這個解脫
Regarding liberation,
大家都很懂得是非常重要
we all know it's very important to us
無論在這個世間上
in whatever circumstances in the world.
比方說衣服穿了太多
Say for example,
if I'm overdressed
很熱啊
and I feel hot,
趕快脫兩件衣服
I'll take some clothes off
to cool myself down
我解脫一下
and get relieved.
我給人家扣起來、綁起來了
Suppose I was detained and tied up,
我在受刑具法具
or I was enchained or locked
帶著所謂枷鎖
and penned up
很受苦很不能自由
that I languished without freedom.
好像把那枷鎖去除了
If the chain was removed,
喔 我解脫了
I got liberation!
所以這個世間上
So in the world
功名富貴都是枷鎖
fame, honour and wealth
are chain and lock
都是扣著我們
that tie us up
讓我們在名聞利養裡面
in fame and gain
不得自由
without getting any freedom.
有的受家庭的束縛
We are shackled by our family.
受感情的束縛
We are shackled by love.
有的是金錢的束縛
We are shackled by money.
有的受兒女的束縛
We are shackled by our children.
有的受朋友的拖累的束縛
We are shackled by
the burden of our friends.
有的受
Some people are
貪官汙吏的要求束縛、壓力
shackled by the demand and
pressure of corrupted officials.
我們實在不能自由
We really find it hard to gain freedom
不能解脫
and liberation.
外界的境界給我們束縛
If the external afflictions shackle me,
我們還可以自己
I can still try my best
我自己去找一個心安理得
to get peace of mind.
我也不貪圖富貴功名
I don't covet after wealth and fame.
我也不貪圖怎麼樣子發財
I don't covet after a huge fortune.
做什麼巨賈 大商人
Neither do I want to be a great trader
or merchant.
我也不要去求人
I don't ask people for help.
去要名、要利
I don't seek fame and wealth.
我也不追求情愛
I don't seek love.
我自己就很解脫
I'm liberated from all this.
所以過去有人到佛門裡面
So in the past a monk went to a temple
請老師
to find a teacher.
老師說 你來找我做什麼
The teacher said: What do you
want to do looking for me?
他說 請你幫我解脫
The monk said:
Please help me liberate.
這老師 喔 你要解脫
The teacher replied:
Oops, you want to break free?
他說 誰束縛你啦
Who has shackled you?
對了 沒有人束縛我
Right, no one shackled him.
自己束縛自己
It was he who shackled himself.
自己對於世間上的名利貪心
Our greed for the worldly fame and wealth
貪 給貪心束縛
shackles us.
對於不歡喜人我就瞋恨他
If it's someone I dislike,
I hate him.
歡喜的人我就愛他
If it's someone I like,
I love him.
給瞋愛束縛了
I am shackled by love and hatred.
對很多的道理我想不通
If there is something
I can't think through,
想不通就煩惱、就怨天尤人
it beleaguers me
and I start blaming god and man.
給愚癡束縛了
I am shackled by my ignorance.
所以我們自己想想
Try to think about it.
我們也是真的
We really
這個做人也很可憐
are very poor being a man.
很多的壓力壓迫我們
We live under pressure
外在的、內在的
within and without.
甚至家庭、社會都是壓迫我們
Even our family and society
give us pressure.
是自己有時候不明道理
Yet, sometimes it's simply
because of our ignorance of the truth
自己妄想、煩惱
that we are filled with illusions
and defilements.
貪、瞋、愚癡
Greed, anger, ignorance,
瞋恨、嫉妒
hatred and jealousy
也把自己束縛得不能自由
shackle us and deprive us of freedom.
所以這個解脫道
So the liberative path
你不必去求助別人
is not to be sought from outside.
你自己做自己的貴人
You are your own savior.
自縛自解
It's only you that can untie yourself.
自己束縛了自己
You shackle yourself.
自己不去貪圖
If you don't covet,
不去妄想、煩惱
have illusions, or fret yourself,
不就做了解脫人了嗎
you surely can't break loose!
學佛重要的就是
In studying Buddhism,
the first thing is to
大家要做解脫人
become a man of liberation.
