This is a cab view of the Fujikyuko Line that runs through Yamanashi Prefecture.
The starting point, Otsuki Station, is located 77.5 km from Shinjuku Station in Tokyo, 87.8 km from Tokyo Station, and has an altitude of 358 m. The Fujikyuko Line runs to Kawaguchiko Station at an altitude of 857m.
Because of this terrain, the Fujikyuko Line has steepest slopes of 40 percent and curves with a radius of 160 meters, which is hard for railways. The train climbs the mountain path steadily, step by step, like a mountaineer.
In this video, I recorded the journey from Otsuki Station to Mitsutoge Station on the way. The scene beyond Mitsutoge Station will be included in Part 2.
The image quality is not 4K as it was a long journey. Also, the windshield of the train car seems to be slightly foggy. I recommend viewing the image in a smaller size. Please know that there is a railway like this in Yamanashi Prefecture.
As the name suggests, the Fuji Kyuko Line runs along the north side of Mt. Fuji, and you can see Mt. Fuji from every corner of the train. It cannot be seen in the cab view due to the angle of view of the camera, but please visit the site and take in the beautiful view of Japan's highest mountain.
Due to its location, this line attracts a large number of foreign tourists, and the railway staff can also speak English quite fluently.
