Estate agents in HK are more eager to do deals because they get commission from both the purchaser and seller, which in UK is deemed a conflict of interest. Most estate agency do hire part time people purely to do the viewing so it’s common that they do not know the property details and do not comment or “sell” the good points about the property. Hence some sellers opt for a cheaper agency package and do the viewings themselves, that way they can at least show and tell the viewers what’s good about the house they’re selling.
Typically, the minimum requirement is two year employment history. However, you may be able to qualify for a mortgage with any shorter history /self employed if you have other ‘compensating’ factors.
