Ok, so I haven't seen anyone talk about this, but this isn't just Elliot's MV. This is Elliot AND Charles MV. More specifically, this is Charles' perspective on Ellie. In the description, it states his name as Ellie Cuevas. Not Elliot "Ellie" Cuevas, it's explicitly Ellie- a nickname. And I'm sure most of us know that there's only one person who could refer to him as such in the cast. Charles, who is his younger brother. Not to mention, what happened to Elliot occured when Charles was just a kid (3-6 yrs old) since we know that Elliot was 11-13 yrs older as stated by the devs. It doesn't make sense that Elliot is referred to by the nickname he had only with close loved ones, unless this MV isn't his. Because it's Charles', just focusing on Elliot. Furthermore, this implies that Charles knew a LOT about Elliot. His mindset, his motives, for everything he said and did. And from the end of the MV, it's possible that Elliot was coming to terms with his "muddy, broken future" until he suddenly died. And from his shocked expression, he didn't want to die, we know for sure. But why does Elliot see his future as such? Well, what if Elliot was the person who spurred on Charles to pursue chemistry? Charles is surprisingly fond of certain things. The devs state in the QnA that he is secretly attached to his hair length and doesn't like the idea of cutting it short, despite how he had short hair when he was a child. He bears a striking resemblance to Elliot now, and we do see this in the MV, since people thought this was Charles instead of Elliot. Charles literally grew out his hair to look like Elliot. Furthermore, if Elliot wanted to pursue chemistry, and for one reason or another, wasn't able to, Charles would do so for him. Because Charles may have seen Elliot's decline firsthand, which is why he knows so much about him to even envision this MV for us. It could be that Elliot was banking on taking up chemistry for his career, and when he wasn't able to, fell into a slump and started smoking. This would explain why Charles is attached to his safety glasses and never takes them off- they aren't just his, but they used to be Elliot's too. Same goes for his hair, and if you look at one of Charles' sprites... this may be a stretch, but Charles has sprites where he holds a pen in his mouth and a notepad in the other. Elliot is shown smoking here. Isn't the way Charles is shown holding his notepad and pen awfully similar to someone holding a cigarette and its packet? This means that after Elliot died, though he repressed his memory of him, Charles still tried to be what Elliot couldn't. He took up chemistry, and he's now an Ultimate. There is literal evidence that younger siblings who are better than their siblings at something is because they've seen where their older siblings failed and learned. He grew out his hair, took up what Elliot never could, and he certainly doesn't smoke. Charles, as we know him now, is potentially who Elliot wanted to be. And considering Charles quote about Mai, "She loved her family", he did all of this for Elliot, even if he doesn't remember. Because he would've admired and looked up to his older brother, cared for him no matter how bad things got for him. It's why he knows so much about him, because he loved his older brother. There's no other reason for why Elliot is referred to as Ellie otherwise, and this is the first MV we have of someone outside the cast. So this video HAS to be one of the cast's, just focusing on someone who isn't. And now that we've been left on a cliffhanger from the latest episode, he may have gotten this video because he's going to play the role of our "support". We got David's MV since he's our antag, and Min since she was the first culprit. Therefore, the reason Elliot is so prominent in this is because he is Charles' very reason for becoming an Ultimate. This also proves that Charles will be helping us in trials (as much as he can with Teruko's reluctance to trust others) and that we'll be learning more about him in future trials. TL:DR, this is Charles' MV since he'll be playing support in the future, and Elliot is the reason for him being the Ultimate Chemist, along with other things.

So I have two theories so far right now. One: This song is about Eliot’s life, and how in turn, Charles’ life will unravel throughout DRDT. Two: This is Charles’ singing about Eliot from what he remembered before he forgot Eliot. This may sound crazy. And it is. But I do have one piece of evidence: the description uses a nickname. Who else would use a nickname? A family member. Charles. Or it’s a mix of both. I’ll add on later.
Before I start, just to make this clear Eliot: (Means I’m talking about how the lyrics relate to Eliot.) Charles: (How the lyrics relate to Charles.) “Neglecting my happiness, I never want to sober up. Until it’s time To listen to your voice.” Eliot: this MV paints a picture that suggests Eliot struggles with addiction and substance abuse. I’m going to guess that Eliot was sheltered growing up, seeing as Charles was as well. Until someone pulled him out of his daily life and got him into drugs and alcohol. Charles: he was very isolated from everyone in the killing game, and didn’t seem too happy. Very rude and aggressive. Until Xander snapped him by resurfacing his trauma with blood, and Whit came to the rescue by comforting him, pulling him out. “And my body is dyed” Eliot: this could be the affects drugs and alcohol has on his body when he first tries them. Charles (1): it was said in the QNA that Charles was becoming a lot like his brother, and thus dyeing his body would correlate to changing himself (unconsciously though, he would’ve long forgotten who Eliot was) to be like Eliot. “The sacred mountain is covered in mud Chipping away, ah, it’s not bad.” Eliot: this is the dirty side of substance abuse, but to him, it doesn’t even feel bad, and maybe it’s an escape from his life, so even the mud tainting his body (the sacred mountain) feels great. Charles: Associating with Whit is the mud that taints his actions thus far of superiority and isolation, but to him, it doesn’t feel bad. “I’ll succumb with just one more milligram “ Eliot: This one is very explicit in what it means. It’s Eliot taking drugs. Charles: It’s him slowly opening up to others, by attending breakfast (chapter 2 episode 1). “Getting drunk again and again, unexpectedly Ah, it’s not half bad” Eliot: this one’s also pretty obvious. It’s Eliot trying alcohol, and him liking it, and thus drinking it again and again. Charles: him repeatedly getting drunk means him getting involved with others, like Whit and Teruko, and most of the cast by attending breakfast. And to him, it’s not half bad, because he likes taking with Whit, and Teruko (as evidenced by chapter 2 episode 3.) “I’m drunkard unaware of my rival in love” Eliot: I actually have no clue, sorry Charles: this really helps my first theory. Chronology wise, the time he leans that he’s an unaware drunkard is in epsiode 4. By learning what his secret is, he learns he’s an unaware (not knowing his brother is dead and thus, not knowing much about his past) drunkard (drunk on lies fed to him by his parents.) “The signing voices. Are uncountable. And once one gets lost in them, they become your xx” Eliot: continuing with my theory that his peers got him involved in these bad habits, the singing voices are his peers that got him into substance abuse, and he can’t escape it anymore due to how far he’s in, and how addicted he’s become. Charles: this could be him over analyzing his past, with the singing voices being J revealing his secret and his parents lies that they told him (presumably, at least that’s what Charles thinks in episode 7.), and how since he’s gotten this information, there’s no backing out or unlearning it.(continued in the next comment.)
“I hide a thousand And can only split ten” Eliot: I’m gonna assume this means he’s stopped listening to most of his peers that got him into substance abuse, and he’s only listening to the first person who got him into it. Charles: this refers to how he really only hangs out with Whit and maybe Teruko after episode 4. He’s split thousands of voices, but he only listens to the two of them. “Please don’t let this fleeting happiness go away.” Eliot: this refers to how the highs of alcohol and drugs really only last so long before they die down. And maybe this refers to his peers company as well. Charles; he’s starting to enjoy his time with Whit and Teruko, but he’s not naive enough to discard the possibility that a murder will happen. And thus, happiness is fleeting here, and can be taken away at any time by someone’s selfishness. “Until I can lend an ear by your side.” Eliot: the most I can think of is maybe his peers? And how he wants to repay them for giving him an escape from his life with alcohol and drugs? Charles: he wants to lend and ear, and does so by stopping Whit from talking about Min infront of Teruko ( episode 7.) “My muddy, obstructed, broken future It’s not half bad.” Eliot: he’s so worn down by the affects of alcohol and drugs, but he can’t stop the itch for more, due to his addiction. Charles: Arei’s dead, but he can still contribute to the trials, and Whit and Teruko are still around. So while things are looking gloomy, he can still fix it. He can still do something about this. “I’m giving in, and I AM LIVING” Eliot; (irony sure is harsh, huh) the high of these substances make him feel like he’s living. These new experiences are making him sore high. Charles: He’s contributed more than in the first trial, and we know that he likes showing of his capabilities and intelligence (see episode 1 chapter 1), so him being able to do something in trial 2 is making him feel alive. “I’m a drunkard unaware of the story” Eliot: he’s not aware that his demise is soon coming. How do we know it’s soon coming? Well, Charles is said to look a lot like him before Eliot died, and… well… look at Eliot here. He’s unaware he’s on the final page of his story. Charles: yeah, it’s not looking good for you…. I’m 99% sure he’s the chapter 3 victim. (Continued in the next comment.)
So, what’s this all to say? I think from the lyrics and explanations I’ve provided, my first theory looks pretty plausible. And my prediction is that Charles is going to die similarly to Eliot. And this MV detailed Eliot’s life in full, and is showing us how Charles’ life will play out, with the chronology matching up way too scarily.
so i have found a few differences between magenetra’s english translation and this mv’s lyrics, considering drdt used them as credit i decided to look into it 0:43 og mv = and then drdt mv = so that’s why 0:44 og mv = it’s smeared and chipping away, ah yes, it’s not half bad drdt mv = chipping away, ah, it’s not bad 1:41 og mv = that’s drdt mv = in other words 1:42 og mv = my muddy, obstructed, and broken vision of the future drdt mv = my muddy, obstructed, broken future regarding the longer sentences, the og mv’s translation is more precise, but instead drdt’s mv is straight to the point. it seems to me that elliot is aware that his future (or current state) is going downhill, instead of it being a ‘vision’ of the future, it’s his definite future. i’m not sure what else to take from that in terms of theorising since we don’t know much about him as a character, i feel like the difference of ‘bad’ and ‘half bad’ also means something, i’m assuming that ‘half bad’ is a statement that conveys surprise whilst ‘bad’ was to be expected ? the og mv’s wording seems to be telling a story, whilst the wording of the drdt mv seems to explain the reason for the lyrics although drdt’s lyrics could just be rewording for consistency, so take this with a grain of salt! we don’t know much about elliot yet but he seems super interesting and i’m excited to learn more

Oh my god??? The color scheme is BEAUTIFUL IN THIS!!! I love the contrast between the purple and yellow. Charles (or his brother I guess you never know) was not my first guess by a long shot for the main character of this MV, but this was beautiful! It really gave us an unseen side of Charles' character. I'm definitely going to be rewatching this quite a few times! EDIT: Turns out it IS Elliot in the video (according to the description).

DRDT THEORY [SPOILERS FOR EVERYTHING FOR NOW] How was Arei killed? (I didn't rewatch second chapter, but I plan to watch it again to fill the gaps in my theory, I'll update it if I do this, please consider it might have gaps now and tell me) I don't have one suspect - and I think it's great. First of all - the time of the crime was probably altered. That means someone who has alibi for the time they assumed the crime was, might be actually guilty, to make a twist. The second thing I want to discuss is the cause of death. I think it's drowning. And I also think... It wasn't planned. It might sound crazy, and I'll be dramatic... I think Arei was tortured and killed by mistake. "But why!? She doesn't even has trace of any bruises and anything like that at all..." Let me explain. Do you know what waterboarding is? It's a method of torture using water and simply making the victim feel like they are drowning. I think there is a seesaw at the playground, which could be used to tie Arei up, pour water into her mouth and tilt her when she's close to drowning. But something must have went wrong, and she died. The culprit could have panicked (or not) and decided to fake her suicide by hanging her. And here comes my other theory, with the scratch marks on the floor. Hu said the floor is really delicate and even stomping on it with high heels could damage it. She's the only one wearing heels, and also she said this thing. I'm not sure if she's the culprit, but I'm not excluding her completely. Basically, someone wasn't tall enough to reach the top of the swing, and had to wear high heels to hang Arei's body. They used the heels, but left marks. When they saw it, they took something and made other marks with it, to hide the fact, that it was from high heels. It's even possible that if that wasn't Hu, Hu borrowed the heels to someone who used them. She haven't told it, because it wasn't important and might been embarassing for someone. So... Who's the culprit? The person I suspect the most is Arturo or Nico, or someone else who has alibi for assumed time. I don't have any evidence pointing towards one person, so it's just a guess ;)

I’m struggling to find a direct english translation of this song, only english covers which of course aren’t going to be the same as what the original lyrics actually say. So I can’t say I’m sure what the song is about specifically, but my guess is Veronika. She’s dependent on horror to keep her life interesting, she has an infatuation with Arturo, it works.

While this is still fresh in people's minds, I'm taking this as a chance to overview everyone's secrets once more: Arei's: “You’re a murderer, and you hold no remorse” Whit: “You exist to manipulate others. Everyone else exists to be taken advantage of” - David (most likely) Nico: "Your body is falling apart but you still refuse to eat” - Ace Charles: “Ever since you kissed her, you were afraid your sexuality would ruin your friendship” - Eden Arturo: “You hid your name and birth right to pretend that you aren't the daughter of Mariabella Rosales” - J Levi: “Blackmail, rumors , lying, stealing, slander. You did everything to ruin your sisters’ lives” - Arei Xander: “You treated competition with ruthlessness but poisoning them to win was a bit too far, wasn’t it” Min: "You're constantly blaming yourself for the death of you parents and siblings. It doesn’t matter that it’s not your fault just that you didn’t go with them.” Rose: “Your mother is dead. You always omit to that truth” - Whit J: “Your older brother died but you don’t remember him at all” - Charles Eden: “Your younger sister killed herself because of you. You should have never left” - Arturo Hu: “You only took on your talent to distract from your incessant need to harm yourself for fun” Veronika: “You were quite the hopeless child. Dying once wasn’t enough, so you attempted suicide three times” Teruko: "You took on your talent to earn money for your family. But you’ve since put them in a lifetime of debt.” - Rose Ace: "No one accepted you because of your identity. You were constantly mocked by your family, your peers and everyone else” - Nico David: “How could I even select what secret to be you motive! Just about everything you’ve done in your life is worth killing for. This killing game is your fault” - Xander (could be a lie) These are all the ones that have been revealed so far, assuming no one has lied about who they got. The only one who'd lie about who they got is probably David, as we see Xander visiting family, so it's highly likely Min got his, while he has Min's secret. If we assume no one lied, however, we have Levi, Min, Hu, Teruko, and Veronika left. I'm putting Whit as having David's secret as basically confirmed, due to him stating that he kept quiet as to not ruin David's career. Many of the remaining secrets do not apply to Min, except Arei's and Xander's, but since Arei's target is among one of the people remaining, we can assume her secret is Xander's. For the remaining 4, Veronika's strikes me as the easiest to put a name to, as none of the remaining people have portrayed suicide except for Teruko. This means we have the murderer, the parents & siblings, and the harm yourself for fun secrets left. Harming yourself for fun does not fit Hu nor Levi's talents, so we can put Veronika's name to that one. This mean Hu and Levi each have the remaining talents, and only Hu mentions her family, so we can assume that Hu's motive is the parents & siblings, whilst Levi's is the murderer. If David lied, we now have Levi, Min, Hu, Teruko, Xander, and Veronika left. As mentioned before, Xander and Min would then have each other's secrets, as it would not only disrupt the cast more but also place more suspicion upon David, pushing him into a corner and forcing him to lie about whose secret he received. However, if we assume he got Teruko's secret, Veronika's suicide motive no longer applies to any of the remaining people, except herself. It doesn't make sense if he got anyone else's secret, other than to reveal the mastermind, in which case that's a pretty boring reveal due to the means of process of elimination. I doubt this, so we can continue along this path in which Levi, Hu, and Veronika are left, fighting for suicide, the murderer, and self-harm. Veronika suits both suicide and self-harm, but this is really a throw in the dark in which any of these last few are just as likely due to the little information we have to work with. I saw a theory in which David actually got Mai's secret, and I think that is a pretty likely scenario if he lied about who he got, but this puts us in a awkward situation in which one person does not have a secret. Following the Teruko has Veronika's self-harm motive path, we have Levi, Hu, and Veronika left, but are instead fighting for the murderer and the self-harm secrets. As stated before, Veronika most likely has said self-harm secret, resulting in Levi or Hu being the murderer. Upon more contemplation, I think that David didn't lie. Him lying results in a much more messy scenario, one in which someone either doesn't have a secret or a secret doesn't apply to the remaining people. Alright thanks for listening to my Ted talk, would be funny if I was completely wrong Edit: oh fuck wait this is Charles' sibling wtf Another Edit: Because I have no life, I'm rewatching a few old things, and stumbled across a comment on the first episode of the prologue. We see someone saying that they have to kill Teruko, with a fork on the table, seemingly bleeding out of their head. This sorta matches Xander's wounds, so this puts a stronger emphasis on David not lying, and Xander having survivor's guilt over something. We see Xander talking about how he didn't expect someone to come at him like that, so it's safe to assume that it's either Teruko and Xander & Teruko have a past together, or it's someone else who's probably the mastermind, such as Mai or another participant.
Im just curious, do you know about the secret quotes of the characters (its on the character's website, its not visible but you can find it somewhere)? Some of them helps about finding which ones secret is whichs. Example: Xander's "survivor guilt" one. So I think David did lie.
I don't see why David lying means that the remaining secrets don't apply to the people left. If David did actually lie, it's pretty easier to figure out which secret belongs to whom: Teruko = Killing Game is your fault, Levi = Remorseless Murderer, Veronika = Self harm, Min =Poison, Xander = Your family is dead, Hu = Suicide
@@iloveareii Yeah, I've seen them, you can find them by just inspecting each of the characters' cast page. Most of the quotes do line up with David not lying, with Levi being 'heartless' and Hu wanting to pay for what she did, indicating her blaming herself about being guilty over what she did. Meanwhile, if David did lie, this means Hu is either suicidal, the murderer, or has self-harm tendencies. She states that she 'wants to live', but if so, then this means Levi, who is 'heartless', is suicidal or has self-harm tendencies.

Also, some of her dialogue in episode 11 implies that she still might struggle with some mental health issues: "I have to be the one to give everyone guidance. That's the only thing I can do. If no one relies on me, then I won't be useful anymore". And we don't even know when she's gonna say her secret quote, it might be some time in the future, who knows what she feels like then. We don't know what she is referring to with "Pay for what I've done" but it could also be something that happens in a future chapter. Or it could be related to the whole Nico and Ace thing. But more importantly, we already know that Xander has survivors guilt and that his family died. Not only is it mentioned in his secret quote, but he also talks about it in his bonus episode. And if we assume the person at the beginning of the prologue is Xander, then it makes no sense that the killing game would be his fault. Because the person talks about how they want to stop the killing game

Why choose this song for Charles? I think the reason why we didn’t expect this is because the song doesn’t fit his personality. Is this Charles brother? Is this Charles when he wasn’t in the killing game? Is this the version of Charles with his memory not erased? Who knows?
