Thanks Elmo , u did a good research. Being an oldie I remembered the original SKC premises where the present Kota Raya stands. The wooden windows with a sliding wooden door lead to a dark interior. Light was so dim and no fans for air circulation Food was good but interior was all gloomy. They sold Yeong Taufoo too. Do you have memories of the original SKC shops.
Thank you very much... You have done a great job in introducing us all these nice food. Very helpful even for KL people like us. Many of these we are yet to try for ourselves... 。。
Hi Elmo ... thank you for sharing with us the history of this wonderful noodle . Just like you , i have eaten this but did not realize it was call SKC. Thank you for sharing. Also thank you for highlighting the " chopsticks" issues. BTW , based on your recommendation , i will have places to go over the weekends !! Thank you again Elmo for such fantastic & informative video , the research you put into your segments really shows in your quality videos !
Hi Elmo, thanks for sharing..I was wondering what is Sam Kan Chong. Now that you have mentioned, I know now and have not have it for a long time now, one of my favorite...and there is one mentioned in your video, very near my place..Hahaha Btw, no need to bother too much about the chopstick issue, who cares...When eating durians, everyone use hands, sometimes, both hands too...Cheong Sek Sai Kai...Finger licking good...Hahaha. Cheers.
Hi Elmo, I love to watch your channel. As for San Kan Chong, I personally fell that Kota Kemuning Imbi Road Meat Ball Noodle is the world best. Must try. I don't think any place can be better than this place.
Look forward to your new video every week! Keep up the good work. Please know that I really appreciate it very much … just keeping fingers crossed to be able to balik kampong soon!
Superb presentation as always.....and your English subtitles makes it easier for the non Chinese viewers to understand what you are trying to present. Great stuff mate...keep up your good info.😍.
Wow! I trust your food review is the best!! Definitely continuing to support your channel!!!Learning something new every time! First to hear about Sam Kan Chong ! Must try this definitely!! I’ve shared with my KL friends and they are pleasantly surprised to find the hidden eateries gems !! Thanks! As for the chopsticks issue...lost for words!! 🤭 A very Merry Christmas to you!! 🎄
I like the San Kan Chong in Sunway Pyramid and is disappointed that it has closed down. I really enjoy your video so don't worry about negative comments. Lastly, wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
I have occasionally eaten this dish but didn't know its name. Must give it a try in Taman Megah. Don't worry about critics. Many people (including me) enjoy your reviews as well as your take on the current situations. Keep it up. Kind regards, Bernie Wong.
Thanks for telling us the history of SKC. My fav is the one at Imbi as I hv frequent that stall for the past 30 years. Once there was a customer who complained about their price, and the owner got really upset and scolded the customer
Yeah, it felt a bit of praising the authorities for a while in your last video. No offence taken. And some places do have consistency issues with their food, just my personal experience with some places you have not came across. Wow the loh sue fun looks good in your video. Awesome work as always, keep it up, Mr. Lee.
Love your comments on using chopsticks ,🤣🤣🤣 . I love to advise Dr M to further study more on the path to need for modernization. Not all foods are cold and dry 🤣🤣🤣🤣笑死人喇 ! Tell Dr M to use barehands fingers on BBQ ...
Another wonderful and useful review. Excellent video with a insightful introduction using current issue. If there is anything that can make more Malaysians reject the divide and conquer strategy, it will be food of all Malaysia’s communities.
May I ask an interesting question? Without the more than one hundred years’ British colonial rule in Malaysia, would your country have been made an unified Malaysia after independence from Britain.
@@ericluk68 are you implying that colonial British rule should be credited for unifying all the different communities in their effort to kick out the British? Without which Malayan lands would still be ‘uncivilised’? If so, you should also credit Nazi Germany and Imperial Japanese for many things.
@@CalvinK300 I am not implying that British colonial rule should be credited at all. What I like to point out is how emotional and ignorant people become when they are instigated by narrow nationalism. In that, People can’t reason things in a sensible or even sound mind. Anyway you don’t even know how to answer my question above. Colonialism is a ill system in terms of political humanities, so is narrow nationalism. I will like to ask another question. Does the ethnic Chinese enjoy as equal in rights with their Malay compatriots in an independent Malaysia as those were the days in the British colony of Malaya?
@@ericluk68 it is not I don’t know how to answer your question. I asked you for clarification because the way you posed the first question was like implying British colonialism was beneficial. Your next question seems to be stirring racial sentiment. This is a food channel mind you. We have enjoyed racial harmony but it is a delicate balance so think carefully before you comment.
@@malaysiafood328 Actually, I remember I have tried the original SKC in Foch Avenue ( Ooooops ..... you should easily guessed myn age.... not that I mind !) in my younger days, and if I am true to my taste, I would say that Sun Huat Kee is quite close in taste and flavour to the original SKC of 60 years back !
Basically tis dish was started at a 3 unit cluster of shops at Foch avenue, Chinatown. Short of a better name they refer to the dish as '3-stop type' ala Sam kan chong
Thanks for letting us know its unique name -SKC. Win Hing Seng is one of my favourite together with its piping hot local coffee.. Not so expensive as you get 6 pork ball instead of usual three. You can actually request for three if you asked. The coffee shop Wah Cheong Opposite Lucky Seng in Sec 17 also has a good pork ball noodle. Keep up the good work.
Thx for all these san kam cheong introduction.. quit nice broth is white colour...but I'm try one restaurant in pandan jaya near shen heng shop that 1 will be best cause his got nice fishball and meat balll , fried pig intestine take make alot different
Dear Elmo, I watch your prog sometime and want to correct you on 3 kan cheong I was lucky enough to grow up eating the 3 kan cheong as it behind my grandpa shop opposite the thecurrent bus stop now. You got part of it correct!(kota raya) at thecurrent lane heading to the car park of kota raya...There were3 popularstalls there1 yong tau foo 2wan chee kee (roast duck char siew and siew lap) and 3 thepork noodles those day they dont do mince pork Wan chee kee son andgrand son moved to sect17 the very popular one nearthe old Sentosa cinema but have rented their shop lot out andstop asthe son inlaw was a seniorMCA and the char siew in jln tong shin is their relative. I love local food and even know their HK food better than the locals there all my pals were in food n entertainment industry
You did actually missed out the real and original SKC. The original owner had shifted away to someway in setapak, they insisted they were the only one left and has no branches. Sorry I couldn't add on their new address cos I d misplaced the contact as it was in FB that I had gotten words they're still around in k. L. They'd advertised once on FB .
Hi uncle elmo, merry christmas and happy new year ! Stay strong, stay healthy before i turned vegetarian, i would regularly eat Sam Kan zhong sold in one very popular shop at Jln Batai (shangri-la). In a span of 10 yrs, the price has gone fr RM5 to only RM7...
The one in Jalan Batai (Restaurant Yum Me Place, previously known as Shangri-la) also has good Sam Kan Chong. However the price has increase to RM 8/bowl already, but still ok considering their location.
Elmo, if you have asserted your argument that Ethnic Chinese culture and customs as part of Malaysian tradition, not merely matter of utilitarianism, I agree with you, but you posts the Communist China’s flag in the video to represent China’s culture is totally wrong.
@@malaysiafood328 Malaysian Chinese people’s attitude towards their country’s politics is always amusing to me. They like barking up the wrong tree, the British scapegoat that leaving 60 years ago, being ten thousand miles away, while they are emotionally attached to the wrong motherland, the communist China and never dare to query the unjust hierarchy right in front of them. Anyway I still buy your outspokenness about your former prime minister.
Aiyaaaa don't have to get offended la, many eat at BLR joints using utensils also the tamilans don't get upset. Leave that old man alone so that he won' be relevant.
