Yugyeom background is hip hop dancing. That is how he was scouted, a Jyp scout was at yugyeom family members dance where they saw him dance. And yugyeom is know for his singing and dancing.
@@anthonytoo Actually Yugyeom’s #1 dance genre is House so footworking a lot of people put it in under hip hop but as a Chicago native I know better lol it’s genre on it’s own. Next would be hip hop for him. But as you can see in this video he usually does both! Side note: he’s a lead vocalist in GOT7:)
FUN FACT: Yugyeom started dancing when he's 14 as a house dancer under Body & Soul Crew, he even competed on underground battles and won 2nd place all over South Korea. He even mentioned before that he loves to be on the spotlight that during his lunch break when he hears music he'll dance even if his classmates would make fun of him, as his love for dancing grow and grow he started watching choreographies and there's a retreat he participated on he performed "Shock" by BEAST and his brother uploaded his video on cyworld which his cousin came across and contacted him which he found out later that his cousin was a dance academy instructor on NY DANCE(Hype Up). With his cousin recommendation he was able to attend the academy, also the reason he was scouted by one of the instructors there that also works for JYPE as dance instructor for the trainees. Years later Yugyeom debuted at the age of 16 as the Main Dancer of GOT7, he lives for that title that he even participated on group choreographies since 2015 (If You Do Era). In the year 2016 he participated on "Hit The Stage" where idols who's good at dancing will compete for the title, he appeared on last 2 episodes which he ended up 2nd place on 9th and 1st place on the 10th episode. He gained the title "Hit The Stage" at the age of 18.
Yes he's a singer/dancer. he even won an idol vs idol dance survival show called hit the stage against a lot of other well-known main dancers. I'm excited for him I just saw a video of him dancing with Jay and he just looked so happy so I think it's going to be a good fit for this next stage of his career.

his dancing background is actually house, which is why his footwork is so insane but he's good at other genres of dancing too. also the people dancing with him are actual from his dance crew back back before he was even in got7! they were his team on hit the stage too.
LOL Hit the Stage obviously is gonna be the top mentioned thing, he brought a lot of attention to GOT7 in the earlier days with his routines. He was also among the group that secured their spot in GOT7 in a trainee dance competition, which you can find footage of on youtube. GOT7 originally was very dance heavy with a lot of acrobatic tricks and relied a lot on power. The last few years there was much more of a focus on intricacy and timing in their choreo. Yugyeom loves dancing the most out of the other members, I think, which really comes thru in the way he moves. I can't remember if you reacted to JUS2, but the combination of Yugyeom and JB was iconic.
Yup! Hip hop and house dancing and freestyle. He won his first competition at an underground competition at age 13. Then Got7 debuted at 16. Hit the Stage at age 18. The rest is history. Yugy is poetry in motion!
i’m so damn excited to see what come from him in AOMG. if you wanna see more of his dancing i suggest you watch HIT THE STAGE! definitely the most creative freedom he’s gotten while in JYP and more hip hop based choreos.
You are right! GOT7 was debuted as a hip hop group with elements of martial arts tricking, before branching out to involve ballads and other genre of music. Yugyeom is known as The Dance Machine of the group, he breathes, eats and sleeps dance. Dancing has been his numero uno it thing along with songwriting/singing since the beginning. Another member, Jinyoung is amazing at pop & lock. Together they make the dance subunit. Also, their leader Jaebeom is a former bboy while Mark is best at martial arts tricking. Youngjae and Jackson are pretty underrated dancers too. And how could I forget Bambam, he used to be a dance prodigy as a kid back in Thailand apearing on popular dance TV shows. He was part of a dance crew as well.
Yugyeom and Jinyoung choreographed some of Got7 songs. Got7 is full of dancers everyone can dance but Yugyeom is the main dancer, Bambam is also really great he was in a dance team with Lisa (they are childhood friends).
Yugyeom is such an amazing dancer, he focuses alot on hip hop & house styles. I feel like he fits well with AOMG. Sn: I recommended some Got7 bsides in the Community tab on Patreon, if you didn't know where to start music wise for GOT7.
He started in the House genre with complicated foot steps, but then his role model is Chris Brown so he picking up R&B and Hip Hop as the time goes. As Dancer Yugyeom won several competitions before he became Got7 but also after. The Dancers in the vid are called Body & Soul, they've been Yugyeom's crew since day 1. They treated Yugyeom like a little brother. Music wise, Yugyeom is more in the R&B side, you can check out his soundcloud account for his solo releases

Ayy my bias has got a new home! He's the main dancer of GOT7 and his expertise is in hip hop and house dance. He is also a singer with I would say a unique tone imo, likes r&b as well. So I know he will fit well with AOMG and can't wait to see him do what he wants with his music! I'm so excited!!
This was actually the official announcement of him joining aomg, there was only speculation from that one article, but a lot of ppl were able to find out that it was him even before they revealed that it was yugyeom

He does mainly house and hiphop! GOT7 was primarily marketed as a "flying boy group" in the first few years and so the focus became flips and martial arts tricking during their debut years, but later on GOT7 became known for their great dancers and intricate choreography. All the GOT7 members are amazing dancers, but Yugyeom is our main dancer, and he's been dancing since childhood with a big background in hiphop! He's always been able to hit every choreography perfectly but their old agency never utilized nor highlighted this, which explains why many are surprised about it now.
Yeah, Yugyeom was part of a dance crew before becoming a part of Got7, this is totally his zone. I'm actually insanely excited for him going to AOMG, like the similarities between him and Jay Park are hella crazy that I'm really interested to see how Jay mentors him. Like who would have thought these two would join forces, yet it makes so much sense, both started in dance crews, became part of a boy group with JYP, and then left JYP to pursue their own solo work, like I couldn't think of a better mentor for Yugyeom and it's super exciting to think AOMG has another artist with this sort of background. I thought about this too a lot recently, that I never really realized none of the other artists in AOMG dance, like that's kinda crazy to me to think about now being that that's so in Jay Park and his background. I'm seriously soooo excited AOMG has another artist finally who can dance though.
Yep he’s the main dancer and one of the two lead vocalists in got7. He does have a sub rap position in the group but he hardly ever raps. His background in dance is house and urban/street, he’s also (co)-choreographed some of got7’s dances like if you do, thursday, poison, you are etc
Yugyeom is one of the lead vocalist and the main dancer in GOT7 but he raps too He is a lyricist, composer, producer and also a choreographer He made many choreos for GOT7 and even for some of his solo stages like Hit the stage which he won the 1st in the last episode btw He was a underground dancer before debuting in GOT7 and he won a dance competition too which is one of the reason he was accepted in JYPE The style of dance he did before was mostly house but now he does all kinda dance styles The dancers in the video are his crew, they have been dancing together since he was a kid, before he was a trainee and now they choreograph together too

Thanks for the reaction!! He’s got so much potential and aomg is so supportive of their artists, it’s what he deserves! His solo stuff is amazing, and he goes crazy when it comes to dance! He has been a dancer since he was young, he did house and hip hop. Jype never promoted him like he deserved but he’s recognized in the industry as one of the best main dancers! He’s going to pop off with this career because he has it all 😌
You can search Yugyeom Dance and a bunch of his IG freestyles and covers should pop up, but yes! He competed in dance before he joined JYPE, was part of a crew. A few of them participated in this video, Body & Soul! They were his crew for Hit the Stage years ago too. His specialty is house dance but he also loves freestyling and hip hop dancing in general. Dancing is his true background and he loooves it and its why he was the main dancer/member choreographer for GOT7!!!

Definitely think aomg was the best way for yugyeoms cus his pretty chill with most underground rappers same goes with JB surprised he didn’t sign with ambition but then again his got ØFFSHORE which is pretty known in Korea

0:24 Jay Park posted a video in the studio with Yugyeom dancing to an unreleased song, so it’s coming ! Yeah Yugyeom was the principal dancer in GOT7 and honestly one of the best dancers in Kpop, as a dancer i can tell his musicality is crazy good he doesn’t miss a bit. I thought you reacted when he won HIT THE STAGE ( it’s a dance show competition amongst idols). He also was always posting freestyles etc, but sadly aside HIT THE STAGE JYPE never really gave him opportunities to shine as a dancer so I’m so sooooo glad AOMG teased with a dancing cover it means they’re taking all of him dance and music included to promote. Also fyi to answer your question he was a house dancer before training that’s why his foot work is mad good, but he always switched with house based steps mixed with hip hop, and he also does a lot of freestyle.
