It's because the show is on a network channel; the regulations are much stricter than cable (as is the case in most countries.) The show and network would get fines and penalties for airing someone recently convicted of a crime.
I don't think he's allowed to be shown in TV other than NEWS network. In South Korea, celebrity crimes are taken very seriously and TOP made the news while he was in military service. If you speak Korean you would know how general population views TOP and it might be better for TOP himself to stay under the radar.
It was to notcreate or recall top's scandal, let's be honest, he's not in a good situation right now, tho i didn't like that as well i understand the program was just being careful . .
like everybody, I'm upset about Top's photo too but I can understand them since it's Korea. Maybe there're laws about it and "that thing" is really a big issue there. Of course SBS must know if they exclude Top's pic fan will be mad, but if they include his pic they might have a problem later. It's acceptable.
Listen, y'all. I say this realizing many of you are going to hate on me for saying this but y'all are barking up the wrong tree. I am a longtime Big Bang fan and I am so sad by what happened and all but Sbs didn't leave TOP out to pass some kind of personal judgment or hold some grudge. It's just the law; when a celebrity is convicted of a crime, depending on the gravity of the crime, there is a set amount of time that they cannot appear on network television. The rules are a little more lenient on cable shows (as is the case all over the world. It's why they can swear on HBO but not on networks.) Lots of Korean celebrities have been convicted of varying crimes from tax evasion to illicit gambling. When such things happen, they are blotted out, edited out, left out from mention, etc. It's just par for the course. If the network doesn't follow these rules, they are fined or receive penalties just like if they didn't bleep curse words, etc. So this kind of thing is very common and barely noteworthy to Korean viewers. Finally a note on the TOP scandal: Knowing how marijuana use is not even illegal in many countries and how Hollywood celebrities mention their recreational use completely openly in their interviews, I think it's ridiculous that artists are convicted for personal use. But that being said, the fact that this is illegal in Korea and a HUGE scandal for celebrities if they are caught/convicted has always been true and would have been painfully obvious to all BB members, especially considering what they went through during GD's scandal many years ago. The fact that TOP did this anyway, risking not only his own career but those of his dear teammates, that is really really sad and disappointing to me. Just sharing my two cents as a Korean fan that is familiar with these sorts of scandals in the Korean entertainment industry. Anyway, I think their talent is too great so they will survive this and I certainly wish them all the best, including TOP. Stay strong and hang tight, VIPs everywhere!
hairyHarry you can't expect all other countries to follow laws that are enforced in western countries. They have their own cultures and rules that have been formed for many.years. Putting aside how weed is not that harmful to human compared to alcohol, you can't judge a country based on their law system that isn't working like the way it's working in your country.
