A4 Gallery is a channel for those who are interested in drawing, but pressed for time because of their busy everyday lives. Therefore, I hope to show you how to draw only with the minimal instruments and little-to-none preparation!
When it comes to drawing, it can be easy to become pre-occupied with purchasing art supplies. This can be quite daunting for beginners and may lead to giving up on drawing even before you start
The purpose of this channel is to show you that you can start drawing with just a pen and A4 paper. The beginning is half of the whole - once you draw a line, you are already halfway to finishing!
You can become a master of drawing if you continue to practice and accumulate more experience.

What is mark making?
Mark making is an essential aspect of creating a work of art. We make marks with a pencil, a piece of pastel, charcoal or chalk, a brush and paint, a needle and thread, and all kinds of other instruments that let us incise lines, dots, shapes, and patterns into clay, wood, metal, stone, and plastic. The marks can be straight or squiggly, rigid or loose, singular or repetitive. They can express emotions, movement or stasis, order or chaos, weakness or strength. The range is infinite. It is with "letters" as well.

Ink and Wash Painting
In fine art, the term 'Ink and wash painting' denotes an Oriental or East Asian method of painting. It is also referred to as 'brush painting'. The Chinese refer to it as mo-shui, while the Japanese call it suibokuga or sumi-e, and the Koreans know it as Soomookwa.
The traditional painting medium for ink and wash is black ink, typically applied with long-haired brushes (from animals like goat, wolf, badger, rabbit, boar, or sheep) onto paper or silk.
The completed painting is then mounted on scrolls, which are hung or rolled up. The ink itself comes in the form of a carbon stick which is ground and the resulting particles mixed with water. See also: Pen and Ink Drawings.
What is the purpose of Soomookwa?
The art of brush painting, aims to depict the spirit, rather than the semblance of the object. In creating a picture the artist must grasp the spirit of the subject. Soomookwa attempts to capture the Chi or “life spirit” of the subject, painting in the language of the spirit.
