Our saltwater crocs, I think along with the African crocs, are the most ferocious in the world, there is a video on the comparisons. It's just the Aussie's take risks they shouldn't and if it comes off then the crocs don't seem so scary. If you stay away from Australian stuff it won't bother you so you can camp in safety. We don't have bears, wild cats, wolves or other things that just come and attack you while enjoying the countryside. Things in America try to kill you.

Magpies are pretty friendly most of the year. It's only around September to November (our spring) that they get very protective of their nest sites. If you happen to be walking or riding through their territory, they will swoop you. If they know you however, they will just let you pass through. A lot of people make friends with or feed them, those people don't get attacked.

Our crocs are NOT friendly. Fresh water ones are pretty harmless, but up in the Northern Territory you get the Salties (salt water crocs) which are MASSIVE and can jump vertically out of the water by a considerable amount. Salties are far bigger than your gators. If you can find a video of the "croc jumping tour" I highly recommend checking it out. It's a must do if you go to the NT.

Echidna is far more like a hedgehog than a porcupine. Although echidnas are monotremes - mammals that lay eggs. Our possums and your possums are very different. The US technically has opossums, while Australia has many different types of possums. Ours our cute and rather timid.

The video at 16:31 isn't from Australia. They're keeping a kangaroo as a pet which is illegal here. Plus it looks like somewhere in the USA. I don't know anyone who would treat our native animals like that.

100% agree with the crocs, those videos are were people got very lucky. Likely the crocs already used their one burst of energy and can't be bothered. They move fast and are powerful, but they can only do it for a short time before they need a big rest. They have been known to attack boats and win.

The only thing that might stand a chance against a salty is a hippopotamus. But as they live in Africa, salties fear literally nothing. Except, of course, armed humans, but they can kill anything and so are irrelevant.

Our crocs definitely aren’t friendly and are very territorial and aggressive. The video where they’re feeding the crocodile is likely one that’s been relocated from a place that was causing problems for locals (crocs will kill livestock, pet dogs, children and people who swim in the wrong area etc.) to that area which are “reserve” type places that do crocodile boat tours. The feeding of the crocodile in that way that seems like they’re almost teasing them provides enrichment and a safe environment where they only come into contact with humans in a controlled way.

G'day Guys! Greetings from OZ! The "emu" not liking the camera wasn't an emu but a female ostrich not native to here and probably in a zoo...that person in the orange near the end was not in Australia but in some sort of wildlife park in the USA. The "harness" on the roo would never happen here...Cheers!

Hi, from Australia. There are three land creatures here that can disembowel you. The kangaroo and two flightless birds... the emu and the cassowary. All three have huge, hard toes/claws on their feet that can rip you apart. If a kangaroo rocks back onto its tail for balance it means it is going to try to injure/kill you with its hind claws. Just stay away!

You're right, those white birds are a type of parrot, more specicially they're sulfur crested cockatoos. Like their more colourful cousins they can be trained to talk, when we Aussies see one in a cage we're inclined to say "Hello cocky" to it, in the hope it will respond.

Some of that footage are tourists approaching the wildlife & obviously getting a reaction. They’re like any wild animals, they will come at you if they feel threatened. If you want a pic, stand back & take one, leave the animals some space to get away if they want to. Young children should be supervised, they don’t understand that the animals are wild. My 2 year old son was interacting with a wallaby at Australia Zoo & although I was right next to him, I never thought he would use the poor wallaby to steady himself when getting up from a crouch. The wallaby turned & kicked him too fast for me to react. He wasn’t hurt & it was a great lesson on how to treat animals. My son continued to feed the wallaby & have a funny conversation about how sorry he was & what a great kick he had! 😂😂 A life lesson for sure ✌🏼

You can't always judge spiders by their size in Australia. Huntsman spiders are big and brown. They may look scary, but they're non-venomous to humans and are very common in our homes. In general, they won't hurt you, but they'll help you with insect problems. Unfortunately, many have fallen victim to people who are afraid of them. On the other hand, I've seen footage of people calling them by a name they've given them like they were a pet. American lady RU-vidr, who has moved from America to Australia, was cured of her fear of Huntsman spiders by her then Aussie boyfriend/now husband. They found one whilst camping. He picked up the Huntsman and let it crawl over his hand and arm a bit. Showing her it wasn't a threat. He handed it over to her, and she even grew quite fond of it. I'm starting another comment.

huntsman spiders are most definitely venomous and hurt worse than a bee or wasp sting. their fangs can also puncture straight through a fingernail. they aren't deadly to humans and like nearly all spiders don't bite unless you hurt them.

Exchange the 'roos for moose, dingos for coyotes, koalas for bears, and magpies for Canada geese and you almost have Canada in the summer. I say almost cuz we don't have anything to compare to crocs, lizards, or any of the other creepy crawlers. We have spiders but nothing like the Aussies have. God knew we couldn't handle those critters cuz we can get -20°C/-4°F to -40°C/-40°F winters and thats enough to deal with lol

Your children were probably referring to a hedgehog that rolls into a ball to protect its soft underside. The Echidna in this video is like a large hedgehog. I watch a couple of channels out of Australia and they have a lot of venomous spiders and snakes. One Aussie family that I follow are dog trainers/rehabilitators and they had to put snake fencing up around their property to keep the venomous snakes out. The canines on the beach were dingos. They are canine but not dogs. Those roos can kill a person/dog with one swipe of their claws. Very dangerous.

The Australian salt-water crocodile is thought to be the largest of it's type in the world. They are man eaters and definitely should be left alone. The Eastern Brown is, I think, rated as one of the most venomous snakes in the world, second only to the inland Taipan. The Australian funnel-web spider is the most venomous spider in Australia; even though only 10-15% of the bites made are thought to be venomous, any bite should be treated as life threatening and treatment should be immediately sought. Fun fact, there is one type of funnel-web which lives in trees and drops on its prey... yaaay?

They are white cockatoos or rats with wings (one of many winged rats we have here); they will chew your tire valves, wiper blades or any basic rubber or electrical wiring for the purpose of destroying it… for the spider, listen to your mum; do not put your finger in a strange hole… PERIOD… we have two styles of crocs salty and fresh water for every one you see there are at least 9 or so you do not, see three crocs hahaha do the maths, ohh and the salty will lurch them out of the water a few meters… Magpies are serious shite a woman was killed when she was struck in the eye this year, there are a number of serious injuries per year from magpie strikes… koalas are built to climb ( you may appear as a tree in their eyes ) so they have strong claws and legs, beware… Roos when they rock back on their tail and kick with their legs ; they are trying to gut you hence why they will go to water when chased by dogs ( to latch on and gut them) also they will swim in salt/fresh water etc to try and rid the self of ticks etc … the road train is on a standard remote road, so yes it is a standard road… Dingoes are an ambush predator so they will sneak before attacking; if it has teeth or claws it is dangerous , rule of thumb… to be safe while in Australia if it is at large it should be considered dangerous if it is behind a fence it has to be wild or why fence it in… never sleep near waterways in the north of Australia 🇦🇺….

Kangaroos don’t usually come towards people. The most danger they pose is causing a car crash or going through the windscreen when you are driving fast. Nobody has died from a spider bite in Australia for decades. The Sydney funnel web is the most dangerous and can be deadly if not treated with anti venom. Australian salt water crocodiles do kill people but less than one a year on average I think. They are only in the north of Australia generally away from major population centres. Emus aren’t dangerous and the one that pecked the camera was curious not angry. Koalas are not aggressive. They have sharp claws for climbing trees so they might scratch you but they would rather get up a tree and avoid danger than come near a person. Dogs kill koalas unfortunately. Dingos have killed children but it is very rare. A boy from my church was killed by a dingo in 2001.
