It grabs you instantly, the first half left me almost shell-shocked. Then the transition halfway through: it was perfect, and the last chorus is divine. Never been this hyped about a UMK-entry, just really really hope he delivers live!!
It's not the kind of music I'd usually listen to, but yeah it's got something absolutely magnetic. It's so out there, it's got the kind of energy and individuality that you don't often see in Eurovision, and I don't get bored with it at all. The fandom seems convinced that this is a sure winner of UMK; I'm curious to see how he will bring this to life on stage. Indeed I think I won't mind this winning.
yea i think some fans are so focused on just their favourite song winning, and sometimes should also look at what makes the final competition better. This definitely would make ESC 2023 a better show
Käärijä = the Wrapper; he wraps all those music genres together, owning the song totally. The story of the vid shortly: Finns tend to be quite reserved by nature, not showing their emotions. The guy had a rough week at work and wants to go out to get some drinks and take pina colada more than one or two. After getting drunk he has the courage to dance, he tells us that night he's not the man he usually is so he dances! I love the whole package he serves us! My no1 🥊🥳
Kääriä as a verb means rolling or wrapping something. I first heard his song Viulunkieli few years ago. I'm guessing the name refers to rolling a joint more than wrapping anything. Being käärijä he would be the one that rolls (joints)
1.I LOVE HIS RAMMSTEIN TATTOO,at least we have something from Rammstein in Eurovision Song Contest. 2.This could be 'That Song' who changes sounds, like entering in new era of music, maybe not,but I could see that. 3.I FU**ING LOVE THIS! This is once in a decade song.I would love vote for Finland this year if CHA song wins!
I love the self-irony here, that's what I like about Finns who don't always take themselves that seriously (except in hockey). Cha Cha Cha could also come from Iceland. But never from Sweden 😁
Ha, I thought exactly the same. From the Nordic countries, only Finland and Iceland are chaotically creative (Eurovision-wise) enough to send something like this or Hatari. Fingers crossed Finland send ChaChaCha!
I am Swedish - and agree!. Before this year, when Finland was my absolutely fav, I voted for Norway. We have no sense of humour at all in my country... (except me🙂)
I hope he delivers it live, wins UMK and goes to eurovision because I'm obsessed. I like how the song evolves from a hard, rock-rap style to a fun electro-dance style to mimic how his personality changes as he drinks. Very clever and original, this is the artistic thought process that makes a camp song maintain competitive credibility.
CHA CHA CHA CHA CHA IS MY WINNER!! Please FINSSS this is a gem!! Vote for this and Finland will gets a big vote!! And win Eurovision!! It's a BANGER, catchy and infectious. From start to finish energetic adernaline in 3 minutes. Is fun and original! ROCK, POP and Techno in ONE!! LOVE IT! 12 points from The Netherlands! 💥💥💥💥💥💥
This song is so original. Would be great if Finland would choose him. With good staging and hopefully good live vocals, this could bring Finland back in the top 10 of the Grand Final or even win the whole thing. Really hope it will play out like that. Awesome reaction, Tom.
This is pure perfection as an ESC entry, so Käärijä definitely gets my vote on UMK, unless he totally fails the live performance - and based on everything I've read about him, that's very unlikely. This isn't the kind of music I normally listen to, but we have to pick this for ESC.
YES, i love that comparison - it feels like a successor to Konstrakta but without copying her at all - like its a totally different song but the rebellious spirit is the same
Out of all the Eurovision reaction channels I’ve watched thus far, yours is the most professional. I really enjoy your thoughts and even the cutting of the videos :D
I definitely agree with you in regards that I want it to win just because it would be such a moment in ESC, locals would go crazy, I'd dare say potential instant classic (unless they blew it in the live performance). Like Benjamin has a really strong number as well, but we can throw a stone and get great pop songs with retro touches, Cha Cha Cha is really special I feel. About its chances if it goes to ESC, I'd say juries would make sure winning is out of the question, but depending on how the year shapes up, maybe a second top 5 finish for Finland, finally?
It’s fantastic, and Finlands winner odds is steadily improving, most likely because of this entry. If he can deliver on stage I can see a top 5 at least, depends on how conservative the jury is.
Unibet winning odds at the moment: Käärijä ChaCha 1.30 Robin Packalen 5.50 Benjamin 9.00 Keira 11.00 Portion Boys 13.00 Lxandra 15.00 Kuumaa 25.00 wow, Robin is second favorite because of his fangirls.. it's dangerous
WTF Kuumaa has the highest listens on spotify after 2 weeks of these songs were realeased. People are actually listening to that song non stop. I don't think it's going to win but it definitely is one of the most likely ones to win
@@irou95 Music video is fourth most watched..or fourth least.. the betting companies' odds are usually not much wrong. Now Kuumaa winning odds its even higher, Unibet 31 and NordicBet 35
Pina colada on repeat for 3 days straight. ❤ I´m sure this season has a lot of solid, well produced and respectable entries that could make a good result (and I didn´t listen to all of them). But this one here is the only one thus far that I have listened in full that has an actual x factor to it. This, to me, is just a completely different dimension to everything else! There is still a question of live performance, but I remain hopeful that this is the right choice!
Yes, love it but in my case isn't so strange, as I'm an industrial and electronic music fan and this since the first note reminded me of 80's and 90's Electronic Body Music style. Like Hatari in 2019 this had me saying "yay", industrial again. I'd love to see this in eurovision, but the competition in UMK is wild.
ok, so do you think this type of song is easy to sing then? like is it technically difficult? cos my only reference is Hatari, but that was a different vocal style to this. i think if he gets the vocal, finland would have to be mad not to send this
@@ESCTom let's hope he can do it, it will be a little dodgy when changing verses and style of singing but let's cross fingers and hope for a good live. I want Liverpool to be as ballad free as possible this year.
Even so he himself does rap-music, his greatest and most favorite influencer is the Rammstein. 🤘 That's from where he got ideas and inspiration to this song. (I think you can hear it, and naturally see it as well.) He himself told this in Finnish newspaper. Ps. He have had that hairstyle for over decade... probably influenced by Rammstein as well? 🤔
Im with you!! Great reaction,I love this. I think if Finland select this, they would sail thru to the Finals with only televoting in the semies. And if executed well live, which they can i guess as I looked up some live footages of them on YT they might do top 10 in the Finals. See Hatari or Subwoolfer.
I'm still surprised every time it's not "... coming to you from Shanghai". Since everything I wanted to say about this song has been said already, I'll be shallow: I'd never find Käärijä attractive just by looking at pics of him, but in this video... damn.
Hahaa it was so funny the first half didn’t have any melody for me so i was feeling like i hate it, but then the other half it had the most amazing melody😂😂 I am really confused right now but i can say i like it 😁
I had never believed it possible, but for once Eurovision song made me stop w/their LYRICS. Usually they are just cringe, but this, bloody h3ll, lyrics and the style change summarises evening for an average finnish dude. First aggressive zweihänder drinking, followed by "..pouring bubbling on myself/ and I'm not afraid of this world anymore" T.T
yea, i really like the lyrics too. its a fun way of looking at something that a lot of people experience, that anxiety of being in a club. it's actually a huge thing in ireland, we had/have a lot of issues with drinking, particularly with young people drinking themselves crazy drunk to get over that anxiety. i used to do it when i was younger too
@@ESCTom every live that i found of him, he was with another rappers and i couldn't hear him under their voices and also didn't saw how he sing, but i have doubts about second half of the song with autotune, can't imagine how he will do it live without effects, only if back vocals would sing it louder then him and he will juat chout cha cha maybe
@@АлексейЗаботкин-т1х I would imagine him being out of breath by the time he needs to start singing live after rapping. Singing could sound awful and that would just destroy the whole thing. Might be smart to let somebody else do the singing.
Finland does it again Have they put a foot wrong in the last 4 editions of UMK? This is fresh and vibrant. Would be guaranteed to hoover up televotes but can see juries squashing its chances completely. Either way, a belter of a song for the playlist! 👍👍👏👏👏👏
im 99% sure that UMK is going to be my national final of the year. They are becoming the benchmark for smaller country National Finals 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
@ESC Tom absolutely......Finland and Czechia showing small nations how it CAN be done! The drama starting already in BenidormFest Tom Did you see RTVE's rankings of all the songs? Standby for the fallout!! 🙉🙉😊
Very fair response. The imagery of fighting yourself is interesting, plus the wry humour. I just don't connect with the music, which also cops out about half way through.
I actually don’t think I’d like the song remotely as much without the latter half. It definitely feels like it builds a bridge to people like who would connect a lot less if it was just 3 minutes of the same the whole way through.
@@ESCTom I get what you are saying, as in first impact, and then win the audience over with something a bit less intense. It is an option, and I presume it will be selected. If so, it will wualify, and get left side of the board I suspect, because it will stand out. Also it may benefit from the "Maneskin rush", where youngsters vote for it ten times. Then again it might do a Subwolfer and be seen as ultimately too gimmicky. Still, that's why we love this time of year, I guess!
its all gonna come down to the live. Hes definitely got the look and energy. i dont know how difficult technically this is to sing. in my naivete, im thinking that its very doable, but i honestly dont know
THis is the literal definition of Queerness.... completely unassociated with whoever he has sexual activity with. There is not one single THING even remotely "straight" or "Normal" about this whole thing, and that is just FREAKING AWESOME.. I can totally see him and Sara AAlto hanging out together being all transgressive all over the place.
While I appreciate it for bringing something different, this sound just isn't something I love. The second half is ok, but the first half really throws me off. Idk how I feel about this one. I think I wouldn't hate it if went through but it's not one I would root for
