I don't know if what I'm going to say might be of use to anyone of the JoEnglish family but... the thing I cherish the most when speaking English or any other language I know is the element of fun. I've always had fun and I will continue to study languages for as long as I'm alive! I may not have an encyclopedic knowledge of English or any other language I use but... if a lazy guy like me is trying to learn Brazilian Portuguese and Japanese at the same time, then you can do it, too!

Assurdo non sapevo che in british english le date sono scritte come le nostre dd/mm/aa. Tutti gli insegnanti di inglese in italia insegnano a scrivere le date come in Usa

Un' altra domanda: come regolarsi nei quiz Cambridge dal c1 in su (quelli dove devo essere coerente, o inglese americano o british) per le parole americane di uso comune in Uk? Esempio: noleggio auto in inglese tradizionale ė "hire", mentre in americano ė "rent". Tuttavia tanti dicono ormai "rent" anche in Inghilterra. Ē considerato errore in un cambridge? Altro ex: ho visto usare la parola garbage o anche truck anche in Inghilterra, per esempio in certi film: "garbage truck" x camion rifiuti 😊😊❤❤
in US parlano inglese, basta assurdita' a dire che parlano una lingua diversa, la differenza fra inglese UK e US, e' piu' o meno come fra italiano standard e uno che parla italiano con accento "romanesco", e magari usa delle parole del suo dialetto (ex: rubare l'autoradio (italiano), zottare l'autoradio (romanesco).

There is absolutely no point teaching features of English pronunciation such as glottal stops with the aim of getting students to produce them. The main reason for focusing on them is to help students understand what native speakers are saying when they use them.
