Son-uva Digger has done a couple videos with Hoonigan talking in depth about the truck itself and then playing on the pavement. Dennis Anderson was the original Digger. His 3 kids all drive now after Dennis retired in 2017 after an injury. Adam and Krysten have taken over as drivers for Digger. Ryan is the driver of Son-uva Digger

These trucks, including Grave Digger, come to the town I live in (North Louisiana US) every year. Took my now ten year old son to see them for his 6th birthday. Other than the insane volume of loudness inside the building they do these stunts in, my son had a ball! Got to do meet and greet and take pics with the drivers and the trucks before the show! It’s a lot of fun!

Former Monster Jam employee here again. Really enjoy your reaction videos! You mentioned the economics. It’s unique. Monster Jam owns a lot of the trucks that are apart if their shows like Grave Digger, Max D, Zombie, etc. and they hire the drivers and the crews for them. Drivers and crews get flown into each show while they hire a trucking company to haul the trucks around. A lot of their revenue is merchandise sales, a lot of it is ticket sales. Drivers and crew are paid either on a per show or salary bases depending on your position. Events are no longer being held in Vegas as they stadium they run is being torn down, they may run the new stadium in Vegas in the future. They run a lot of arenas and stadiums that the NFL, NHL, NBA use. It is coast to coast. As I mentioned in a previous video they typically do European tours every summer, but they also do Australian tours and have done South America, Asia, etc in past. This year shows have been held where Covid restrictions are light and they’re slowly getting back to normal in the US and who knows when they’ll be back to doing shows outside the US. Drivers have gotten hurt, but it’s gotten better over the years. I don’t believe a driver has ever died. Grave Digger is still around, still digging graves. Before Covid there are usually 8 Digger trucks with different drivers so each Monster Jam every weekend has a Grave Digger. This is fun for me. I hope you don’t mind. I’d love to answer any questions based on my experience in the industry.

Dennis Anderson is the founder of Grave Digger. He has retired from driving monster jam. His 2 sons and daughter are still driving. There are at least 10 trucks on tour for master jam with the grave digger name. He has had multiple drivers during for him through the years. All of them must put on a show that he would be proud of. He doesn't care about breaking the trucks as long as the driver is ok and they put on a good show. He thinks the fans every show for his house and all of the fun he gets to have.

Monster Jam is awesome of course and is the largest promotion out there but theres so many amazing moments in the independent scene. Monster Truck Throwdown, All Star Monster Truck Tour, Malicious Monster Truck Tour, etc. They all have outstanding drivers and their own unique charm. The reason we'll never see the OG that started it all(Bigfoot) is because owner Bob Chandler had a disagreement with Monster Jam over licensing rights of videos and the Bigfoot name.. For several years as a kid my Dad would take me to see Monster Jam for my birthday seeing as the show would always come through town around my birthday. Grave Digger was always my favorite as well. They preform all over the country, I live near St.Louis Missouri and they come through every year but there's a website that will tell you where and when they'll be. I'm not sure what the official site is but ticketmaster.com would have the information as well, just search Monster Jam on there. P.S. The Grave Digger is rated at 1,500 horsepower. P.P.S. $50 is about the price of general admission but it might vary from venue to venue and I actually recommend not getting what is considered the best seats, you really don't want to be it the closer seats partially because of mud flying around but about midway up on the sides you get such a better view of the whole thing. I however wouldn't recommend the nosebleeds either though, they're just a little too far away. Seats shouldn't be a problem, there's never a completely full house at these events. P.P.P.S. Grave Digger is still going there's also Son of Grave Digger which is Dennis Andersons son. As far as the original truck goes I'm not sure if Dennis Anderson is still driving or if someone took over for him but the truck is still crushing it. Literally, lol.

As far as the revenue goes there are two different situations. Monster Jam is owned by Feld Entertainment. Their drivers are considered employees. Feld owns most of their own trucks (Grave Digger, Max-D, etc.) so costs to repair the trucks are covered by the company and they have a fleet of mechanics and engineers ready to repair the trucks after each show. The drivers who are under contract with Feld will often receive a salary for the year and have their travel expenses covered. You will also see drivers shuffled around from truck to truck as the promoters want to put the best driver in the most popular truck so it wins and sells more merchandise. The second situation is how most independent teams get paid. These are your average Joe who builds a monster truck and does shows for smaller tours. Those drivers are paid on a “per appearance” basis and are often paid according to their popularity and their skill. The biggest difference is that these teams own all of their own equipment. This includes everything from the truck to the hauler to the tools. That’s why you’ll see these teams tend to be more on the conservative side when racing or freestyling as every time they break something it comes out of their own pocket. These teams are also heavily dependent on sponsors and merch sales to try and make ends meet. Obviously it can get much more complicated than that as there are some independent teams that get brought into Monster Jam events to fill out the field, but that’s just kind of the basics.

Grave Digger was a bonifide star. Even if they weren't in the 70,000 plus crowds, every kid in the country in the 80s and 90s saw the TV commercials they ran for it, with a big booming voiced narrator, where the word "Sunday" (the events were usually on Sunday afternoons) would echo. And the toys. Hot Wheels replicas of Grave Digger, Motorized RV vehicles, etc., it was all over toy stores. The other OG Monster Truck was called "Bigfoot". In many shows, Bigfoot and Grave Digger were posed as "enemies", akin to Optimus Prime and Megatron.

Tickets cost between $50 and $175 per seat. The cost to build a monster truck is $150,000 to $250,000. To buy a truck that is already finished plan on paying at least $300,000 for a 20 year old truck. The original Grave Digger truck was retired years ago. Grave Digger is a 1957 Chevy Panel Wagon. Grave Digger is powered by a 540 cubic inch 8.85 liter supercharged motor developing 1,500 horsepower. One of the retired Grave Digger trucks was rumored to sell for $500,000.

Monster trucks make about 1500 hp. If you think its loud on the video then go to an event. Ive been to tons of them. There are like 10 times louder in person. Your chest thumps. Ive been to an inside stadium and the ceiling started to shed its insulation and looked like snow coming down. range between $27.00 and $3402.00. The average price for a ticket to a single race during the 2023 season is around $106.42.

Most of these events are held at football stadiums. The smaller tracks are indoor hockey arenas! The engine in these are based on alcohol powered funny car (NHRA) engines that produce around 2500 horse power! The Grave Digger is probably the most popular, but it wasn't the first. The monster truck Big Foot was the first, but because of a complicated turn of events. Big Foot doesn't perform with the Monster Jam brand!

Monster Jam drivers are paid an equal hourly wage, plus individual commission from merch sold at vendors. The trucks themselves are owned and repaired by the parent company, who are also stake owners of each of the trucks on their promotion 👍🏻

Hey, I've been watching you videos and keep it up. I like the diversity of topics. Now for Grave Digger and Monster Jam. The Digger Dungeon (HQ) is in North Carolina near the Virginia border which is right down the road from me and they do have a Digger with extra seats so they give rides (for a modest fee). MJ has events all over the country during the Monster Jam season. It is a sport with its own league just like NASCAR. I have been to multiple events and I highly recommend you try to catch one while you are here. You wont regret it. Bring hearing protection because its deafening.

Kabir your best bet is to do Vegas / LA because they are quite close. (About a 4 hr drive) And between them you will find 1000 things to do. My family is meeting up in Vegas to celebrate my mom's 80th birthday in August. We've rented a small mansion to accommodate us all. Vegas has it all Kabir. NACAR, bull riding, monster trucks, comedy shows, sights, food, Lake Mead boating, gambling, people. We are doing a helicopter tour of the city this time. (A young guy like you should try the zip line.) I grew up in California just a half day drive from Las Vegas and probably have been there 50 times or more. I have many friends, former neighbors, and colleagues that live there now. It was a popular place to relocate to back in the 90's and early 2000's. It remains a great place to retire due to low taxes and lower cost of living. The other big west coast cities have gotten so expensive that its cause a migration of sorts to the lesser known and MUCH less expensive states like Idaho, Utah, Nevada and Arizona. 😂😂😂😂 I do recognize one of these stadiums at 8:09 in the video. 👍👍👍 That is the Los Angeles Angels baseball stadium. Take time to visit San Diego if you can. It is a spectacular city. Beautiful, clean, safe with perfect weather. I've lived in the Seattle area for the past 21 years and for natural beauty and a dynamic economy it is has been in the 10 cities for decades. 💜💜💜💜💜 So while you are already on the west coast.😎😎 Come on up here. We'd love to meet you in person. 😋😋

Same I met Mr. Anderson in the Sun bowl in El Paso during the open field time he was such a nice man even though he drives like a mad man. And I really wanna see the world championship in Las Vegas live its on TV/RU-vid too but its not the same. Live you can literally feel the engine power rev and vibrate in your chest . But the events are held just about anywhere there is a stadium that can fit them. Some advise would be to only go to the Monster Jams that are hosted in open roof stadiums because the drivers go harder compared to in closed roof stadiums since they have to be much more conscious of exhaust fumes and dust building up in a closed space. I forgot to say lol, bring ear protection!

Grave Digger is still around. The original driver got hurt attempting to do a back flip (under rotated and landed square on its roof from about 20-30ft in the air). There are 41 Trucks that have been built and there are 7 drivers including The son and daughter of the original driver. The grave digger trucks have 1,450HP but monster jam trucks range in power from 1200-2000hp (Alcohol injected not gasoline).

Sadly, they no longer go to Vegas. from 2000-2018 it held the "World Finals", but then in 2019 the "All-Star Challenge", but now the stadium is in a state of limbo as to what Nevada's doing with it, and monster jam now is supposed to tour at a different venue each year for the finals. It was Orlando in 2019, and so far no one's sure where it'll be this year, if it is this year again.

Bigfoot was the first that i know of. The trucks now are completely different machines, where the 80s into the 90s they were closer to being just jacked up trucks that would mostly do car crushing and jumping long lines of cars. More of a side act than the main event. I looked up the price for my town here in Tennessee and tickets started at $7 for kids $20 for adults (and an average of $48).

Horse power is averaged at 1500 but it can go a lot higher The revenue is that all the money goes between the venue and monster jam and the drivers and crew get a consistent rate of money but they all get payed a hefty amount Also There’s been over 40 different grave digger trucks with 6-7 running every weekend or was up until covid hit but now its 2 (yes they are still doing shows with a decent amount of fans The shows for the most part are held across the United states mainly from January to May but in the spring and summer they do an International tour where they go all over the world here’s some of the locations Multiple across Europe Japan Australia China Brazil Africa And mexico But still doing shows in the US during that period but mainly Hockey and basketball arenas Then in October it goes into somewhat full gear with shows Also to answer this most shows take place in Football and Baseball stadiums and the previously mentioned Hockey and Basketball arenas are the most common but as I’m typing this Monster Jam is making its Debut at Atlanta Motorspeedway where nascar its held (it’ll probably be done on the front stretch) There used to be a big event in Las Vegas called the “World Finals” which is basically the Superbowl of monster jam with the biggest line up of trucks and there’s a quite a few amount of trucks that bring one off special paint schemes the main one to do this every year Is Avenger which has came a tradition but many other trucks do the same But with Sam Boyd being brought down in the next few years they moved the event to Camping World stadium in Orlando Florida where they held it in 2019 and had dates for 2020 but covid brought those to a screeching hault

Tickets cost like $40-50 for the seats furthest from center and increase to over $200+ for first 10 rows - they have the events in just about every state thru out the country and the major cities in states usually will have an event at least once a year and pretty sure its all year round. I've only been to one when I was a kid at the Houston Astro Dome during the early 1980s and it was no where near as insane as what they do now. It was still cool very loud and you could even smell the exhaust being it was inside a arena! We like to do things big here in America!!!!

Nearly all the trucks are owned by FELD Entertainment, and drivers are employed to drive a given truck, which is why they run so hard, they don't pay to fix it...a relative few are owned by anyone else, and they usually get an appearance fee. There is another division, for lack of a better word, that does racing, and crushing cars, and those are owned by driverx or are part of a smaller stable. Bigfoot, of which several versions are still active, is on that racing circuit. Monster Jam trucks are often one of several identical vehicles that work different areas of the country, so the crews have downtime to maintain the vehicles between shows in a given area.

@@kabirconsiders It varies heavily based on experience and expertise. The median salary is between 50,000 and 60,000 US. The elite few could pull 5 to 6 times thst much, the rookies might get a quarter as much until they're established. For many, its a second job, a weekend gig. Some will get extra money for endorsements. And the endorsements are usually worth way more than the salary.
