Amazing Grace is a MUST you have to hear. The best ever!!!!
@bridgethaines7127

Amazingly, Mitch (the high voice in the hat) was not singing in falsetto. He's a counter tenor. He was singing in a head/chest mix then head voice. When he hits falsetto it's cray cray.
@backgroundmusik
@backgroundmusik 3 года назад
Mitch's falsetto can only be heard by dogs and a few species of marine life.
@Blue-rl5dp
@Blue-rl5dp 3 года назад
True. Falsetto is when you raise the octave of your voice into a range that's "false" like when you're mimicking your sister whining, "I can't go out in this dress, everybody's seen it before." That octave Mitch is singing in really is his natural range. Now and then Mitch and Kirstie sound identical.
@liannebiggar1557
@liannebiggar1557 3 года назад
For most non-singers they just say “falsetto” to mean a high pitched male voice. I wouldn’t take it too seriously 🙃
@brianmurphy4032
@brianmurphy4032 2 года назад
@@liannebiggar1557 true it's not taken seriously like insulting but its impressive difference to point out bc it shows the range he has is far greater than the layman's listener thinks when you realize he can sing much higher :)

Kevin's hair actually looks a bit more like yours now. People joke that over their 10 year career he never looks any older, his hair just gets taller. If this isn't the kind of music you really enjoy, don't let requesters trap you in the traditional songs. PTX is actually really well known for creating unbelievable a capella versions of popular music and originals of every genre. You want Dance or EDM? They have songs. You want Hip-Hop/R&B? They have you. They do a ton of top40/pop. They cover classical instrumentals and Broadway. They even won a country Grammy with Dolly Parton. I'd recommend their Daft Punk medley (their first Grammy) or something like their cover of Macklemore's Can't Hold Us or even their 90s Dance Medley to give you an idea of their range of offerings.

The first singer is their baritone Scott Hoying. The second was their original bass singer Avi Kaplan (an actual bass voice and that is very rare) he left at the end of 2017 and has a solo career however he is a major factor in their catalog and their 3 Grammy wins. The band was formed for a television competition, the Sing-Off. You can literally watch their first public performance and see the entire "origin story" develop. Both Kevin and Avi came to them with several performance awards already individually. The woman Kirstin is a mezzo soprano and Mitch is a counter tenor or high tenor if you prefer. Kevin is a vocal percussionist and cello player who Avi initially taught to sing when they were roommates starting out, also a tenor. Their current bass singer is Matt Sallee. He is the more usual baritone singing down to bass (because of the rarity of real bass voices). Quite good. Matt starts in 2018. The classics people like are Evolution of Michael Jackson and of course their Grammy wins - Daftpunk medley, Dance of the SugarPlum Fairies and Jolene ft Dolly Parton. Evolution of Beyonce is fun too. Other people will mention more. Christmas carols galore. Mary Did You Know? (American song written 1984 by Mark Lowry), Little Drummer Boy, Silent Night and on. They have put out a Christmas record every year since 2012.

His song "DOWN" and "FRIENDS" and the "ADELE MEDLEY" performance are great, I'm a huge Kevin Olusola fan. Five people is sort of the standard size for an a capella group since roughly the late eighties. Of course larger groups do exist, but that's what the word "choir" is for. Other a capella groups potentially worth checking out include Glad (eighties, nineties; only some of their albums are a capella, they started as a rock band), Rhythm & News (early nineties), Voice Play (current), Backtrack Vocals (relatively new), Home Free (current; but only if you can stand Country music), and there are more. Relatedly, the Swingle Singers, from back in the black-and-white era, were not strictly a capella but used vocals in a similar way to a capella singing; they did a lot of covers of older instrumental music (organ fugues, etc.) pretty much entirely with voices, overlaid on a mostly-percussion jazz accompaniment track that fades into the background and doesn't detract too much most of the time.

The rabbit fan base that is the "Pentaholics" will flock to your channel in droves if you continue down the PTX path. I have no doubts you'll have 100k subscribers by the end of the year. I personally consider them the most versified and most talented group of the 2010's. They cover everything from 1950's swing music to 90's techno and pop, even some decent hip-hop covers from time to time. Plus create their own original songs from start to finish.I can't tell you where to start with PTX other than the beginning so you can see how next level their talents and harmonies have grown since their inception. A very large number of their fans, myself included, have a very difficult time choosing our favorite PTX cover song for you to react to. The running joke in the PTX world is whatever Pentatonix song we're currently listening to is our favorite one, and then the playlist switches to their next song and that's now our favorite PTX in that moment. Please do react to them in rapid succession as you mentioned because you will fall in love with your discoveries as you traverse down the PTX rabbit hole.

I just subbed in hopes of more PTX reactions, and maybe a few Home Free & Voice Play! All 3 are top notch but different a capella groups! Pentatonix really recreated what a capella can be and have won 3 Grammy Awards. Home Free should be getting that level of recognition soon! And Voice Play - the acting & drama member of this mad Trio - should be nominated for a Grammy Award this year for their current video of Hoist The Colors from Pirates of the Caribbean #3 (IMO)! All of these guys collaborate with each other and other singers on the side, some have hefty solo careers too, and a couple have been on Broadway briefly. But all of them interact with fans and reactors a lot! I've seen reactors interview many of them, many do live chats & blogs, and live concerts are fan parties! Pentatonix has an original, "SING!", where many fans (including some famous ones) were included in their video! A greatly fun video! So enjoy your journey down the a capella rabbit hole 🕳! If you want to experience a wide variety of different styles from them, try these: Bohemian Rhapsody ... you get to see an amazing performance, especially when Mitch (the high-pitched guy) does a guitar solo - *without a guitar!* Daft Punk Medley ... a performance that will have you trying to keep up with what you're seeing! Sound Of Silence ... A stirring rendition of Simon & Garfunkel's iconic piece! Amazing Grace ... a truly beautiful and masterful performance that has actually made more than a few reactors tear-up! Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairy ... to truly appreciate this performance, you need to keep in mind that this is a strictly *instrumental* piece, being performed by a group *without any* instruments! A true 'tour-de-force'! These are a good introduction to PTX; with one additional recommendation: Thank You ... an original piece, contributed by Scott the blond baritone, as a commemorative piece that speaks about 2020, in regards to the special folks in the lives of each of us, who kept us grounded & functional! *Enjoy!* P.S.- for some out-of-the-ordinary stuff, try these: Say Something ... an emotional rendition In which you get to see Kevin bring out his cello, to demonstrate what he calls 'cello-boxing'! Radioactive ... with guest Lindsey Stirling on electric violin, & Kevin again contributing a cello performance!

PTX were on a show called Sing Off & won a record contract. Try Amazing Grace with their new bass or Mary did you know or Sing. Any song they do they bring it. And they built their fan base on RU-vid. They won a grammy for Daft Punk and Jolene with Dolly Parton. They are awesome.

You've done it now, Kabir! You've awoken the Pentaholics. If you keep following their advice, your metrics are about to blow up in ways you've likely not encountered before. I recommend reading up on the group's members and history. For example, that wasn't Mitch's falsetto. He's a countertenor. When he really goes for it, he can match Broadway stars like Idina Menzel (Wicked, Rent, and in the movies the voice of Elsa in Frozen) almost note for note, and she's a mezzo soprano. There's a lot more acapella out there, too. The all-male acapella group Home Free is another amazing group, featuring what I think is one of the deepest basso profundo singers on the planet.

When i first subscribed to your channel, i was watching the reaction to Lost in the pond....i thought then that you looked a lot like Kevin...lol!!! Ptx is amazing and i guarantee thst if you go down rabbit hole your channel is going to explode with subscribers. We Pentaholics are a loyal bunch who look for new reactors daily. Another thing to know is it is a good idea to use filters over the video because the copyright people are mad crazy at blocking reactors videos to ptx.

Pentatonix hallelujah has the most views of their videos because it’s an extremely popular song and most people who hear it say this is their favorite version ever recorded, including Leonard Cohen supposedly, who heard this version shortly before he died. But to really appreciate into tonics you should listen to one of their creative compositions/covers. Daft Punk medley and Bohemian Rhapsody are the two obvious choices because they apply there a cappella talent with one of a kind Pentatonix flair. Aside from these videos there are countless other videos where They just shine. Enjoy the Pentatonix rabbit hole

The Five Faces of New Pentaholics 1. The most common is the Mitch Slapped. Commonly found when Mitch is heard for the first time in Hallelujah, and doing Aha! at the Star Vista. 2. The Wide Eyed Look of Disbelief. Normally found when you hear their Wall of Sound. Found when listening to Mary Did You Know, Imagine, and Mad World. 3. The I Didn’t Want It to End face. Most commonly found after listening to the 90s Dance Medley. It can also be found after listening to all their medleys and evolutions. 4. The Teary Eyed Look. This is commonly found when listening to an emotional song of theirs or just the sheer beauty of their work. Commonly found when listening to Mary Did You Know, Hallelujah, Amazing Grace, Imagine and most especially Thank You. 5. The What Did I Just Hear Face. Happens when Pentatonix starts strong, or when you hear a really special note or Kevin sound. Is usually accompanied by rewinding the video or song to make sure your ears really heard what they heard. Those times are too many to list, but the most common rewind at the start moment is the beginning of Sound of Silence.
