Weston McKennie kissing the badge in the torn shirt just before being sent off is the most recent iconic image of this rivalry. The US vs Mexico is less of a football match and more of a fucking fight. Welcome to CONCACAF.
@@ryanzbt14078 Miles Robinson was the winner of the gold cup, another great moment, but the one your talking abt is the nations league and I totally agree
Seeing that little Mexican-American kid celebrating in the stands after a goal from Mexican-American, Ricardo Pepi... Made me so happy man. We have problems here in the US, but that was such a beautiful moment.
Also loved seeing the Mexican and US flag integrated in the earlier part of the video. I was seeing comments about the “parking lot” afterwards. While I’m sure there was some fights, a majority of the people watching this game root for both squads when they’re not playing each other. For the most part, it’s sibling love lol
When it comes to USMNT vs Mexico it always gets heated. Mckennie has been choked at some point in the last 3 games. Mexico is at a low point and they are frustrated because they haven't beaten USMNT in a few years.
It's crazy tho, we never got this weird when we literally lost against them for DECADES and DECADES AND DECADES (tho at that point people in the US were up their own asses and didn't care). They don't have much, and the US always has them under foot, so this was the thing they had, and they are losing that too. They aren't taking it gracefully, but they do care way more than we did in the same position at our own times. I take it as a badge of honor. These players will only work harder and that just means a better showing in 2026.
This is young and inexperienced Mexico team, the majority of which minus Memo and a couple others (like Lozano) play in Liga MX, so take this team of low league youngsters and put them against the US who have a single MLS player in their lineup and it’s gonna be a slaughter
@@TechnicolorMammoth had a co-worker who was on USMNT, U-21s, about 35 yrs ago. He said absolutely, wo a doubt, the Mexican team the dirtiest ever. so this has been going for a long time. I don't mean to put myself in the middle of some racist controversy. I admire, love Mexican people, they are hard working and family oriented. Fun to be with, and generous, Mi casa es su casa es verdad.
McKennie got sent off for pushing one of the Mexican players away (you know, one of the guys who was ripping his shirt off of him) and unintentionally putting his hands on the guys neck. He was protecting himself, not doing anything violent buy yeah, he was sent off anyway.
Bro Mckennie choke slammed a Mexican player. Don't get me wrong he was defending himself and I thought it was awesome but that's gonna get a red every time.
Him kissing the USMNT crest of his ripped kit to the camera is one of the absolute best moments of Mexico vs USA and shows everything about Weston McKennie as a player, competitor and why every American Outlaw absolutely loves the man
I think your best point was how underrated Weah is. If the USMNT score in transition its usually because he runs past someone and makes a perfect cross.
US fan here. We've had a lot of guys struggling with their club situations this year. Mckennie, Pulisic, Dest... Weah and Reyna both struggling to get minutes. But they turn up for the US. The Mexican players ALWAYS go after McKennie. Choke hold in WC qualifying too.
Tbf if I was an opposing player I’d go after him too, he’s the biggest baby on the team and prolly jaws the most. Don’t mind seeing him get some. Maybe he’ll shut his mouth and play
Just want to make a little correction… This was the semifinal, not the final. The format is usually designed so that the teams that make it out of the USA group and the Mexico group play in the final, but because Mexico is so bad and did so poorly in the group stage. We ended up playing them in the semi finals and we play Canada in the final because they beat Panama.
what do you mean designed? It's a generic format. I don't know what you are on about. The two best teams play in the final just like any other tournament bracket.
@@andrew348 He thinks like that because he's used to how it really was just MX and then the US who could make it that far. It's so different in CONCACAF now. You cannot risk underestimating an opponent in our confederation unless you like to get shit all over by minnows. Well minnows as in country size, not as in football culture. They big fish too in that regard.
@@TechnicolorMammothfully agree I think Canada winning being down two of your best players against a team that’s your equals is just to hard to overcome
United States are f**kin legit bro, I'm telling u we are starting to embrace the sport and really trying to improve with both our National Team and our League 💪🏽🔥🇺🇸
It looks very promising moving forward, but as younger players they need to learn some self control and composure to adversity. McKinney's reaction to the adversity was more on par with the higher level of class one would expect from any national team representing their country. (This is coming from a fellow American) Long live USA and Viva la Mexico - I wanna see both nations improve in regards to class and respect (The Mexican team needs a lot more than USA objectively speaking)
The sad truth the us won’t go pass nowhere cause concacaf is mostly focus on money and the us is used on playing home the final was at home and won let it be anywhere else they struggle and lose
It was crazy getting out of there I had to take the bus to the terminal to get a decent Uber fare and even then it kept getting canceled didn't get home til 12 lol
20:11 I agree with you 100%. I'm Mexican-American, but as a Mexico fan myself, I am totally disappointed in the fans who just continue this toxic behavior that I still take no part of whatsoever, but it hurts to see it continue like this, as it keeps getting worse and worse over time. Like yesterday, which it was the first time the goal kick chant stopped a match early. These "fans" are probably the biggest sore losers and like you said later on, they can't control their emotions especially after one of their worst losses against their rivals. And i get it, it's been failure after failure for this team But at the end of the day, we're supposed to accept it and move on to the next. But still, it's an absolute disgrace to the team and to the nation - this level of hate has no place in the beautiful game.
US ate shit for decades at the hands of MX. I know there are way more eyes on the MX Natl. team than the US at that time, but it does make me sad with you. I love talking soccer with my Mexican and Mexican/American friends and family (My wife is Colombian and her family has Mexicans who have wedded in, so it's just always a bad ass time at the family reunion). I love this competition so much. It only makes us BOTH better. When 2026 comes around we, along with Canada, should be in absolute high gear due to how we all can and are building each other up. There is no need for hate from anyone. If US fans did this, I would disown them. Soccer is not a sport of hate. It's a sport I have found many, many amazing and cool people and ones I love and cherish for life. It is a beautiful game.
I wonder if the MX fans were such sore losers that already down 0-3 they knew that even if they caused the forfeit, it would at least end their misery early.
Weah was the striker in a 4-2-3-1 but slid out on occasion as he’s a natural winger. This caused havoc in the Mexican back line as the midfield was very fluid. This was one of Reyna’s worst performances until after he took the knock and the nose bleed. Aaronson might be the better option if Renya doesn’t improve. I agree, tho, this was a very strong lineup and positive formation/style of play. The shape naturally would change with subs and score, and did with the cards of course. But I liked the lineup too… just switch Reyna and Aaronson until Reyna proves he will step up to his potential.
@@Preskeeta-ww4rhOne has to come off. Adams it the captain and most defensive midfielder. But McKennie and Musah can both cover so much ground. The three fight for the two spots
The P*** chanting is a recurring issue with Mexican fans. They also are the ones throwing the beers. Last Nations League, in the final, they were tossing bottles hurting US players. They really have Little Brother syndrome hard since the downfall of their National Team Program. Still as a US fan....nothing beats USA vs Mexico home or away in person. Its absolutely wild
I love Futball. Would watch any team on any given day. I’ve learned to HATE Mexican Soccer. Only their soccer, not their people, food or country. On 30 June 1988, FIFA not only upheld CONCACAF's decision to eject the Mexican U-20 team from the World Youth Championship, but also barred all Mexican national teams, including the senior team, from all FIFA-sanctioned international competition for two years. A few years later the USA beats them on the pitch and they didn’t shake hands with the players. There’s no learned sportsmanship…it’s a shame
As a Mexican this is truly embarrassing for the act that the players did in this game and that goes for fans too we are at our lowest point but we can come back stronger but all this won’t be possible if corruption continues in the federation
Yet this is nothing new for the Mexican National team nor for Liga MX teams in continental play. This is their MO. If you are losing, start brawling, throwing crap on the field and chanting disgusting things that get your team / federation in trouble. How is this the "lowest point" when it isn't really any worse than any other?
@@paulmiller7838 that is true but it all comes back to the federation fans are frustrated because of this they’ve been asking for changes for years already nothing happens because the federation is hungry for money only
What do you mean? That is Mexico’s style of play. It always has been. Even when i was playing in grade school growing up that is how Mexicans always played.. very dirty. Not sure what the problem is, but its disgraceful.
16:15 The sign says, “Pardon us, Father”, I may be Mexican but the US has given me all the opportunities I have rn, love watching the USMNT play! Love your Vids too man!
On the third goal, after Sergiño Dest beat two Mexican defenders to feed that perfect pass to Ricardo Pepi, did you see the second Mexico defender try to leg-whip Dest from behind? Is this what now passes for "skill" from El Tri...??? Sad.
Yes. I am extremely disappointed in Mexico, they for decades have been more than worthy competitors, played great football, would beat Brazil, Argentina.....this team is an embarrassment.
Reyna was absolutely brilliant in the final against Canada. 2 assists on two absolutely beautiful passes. It really pains me that most of the American players are struggling to find time on the pitch with their respective teams, but I’m genuinely impressed with how they turn it up for these big matches with the USMT, in CONACAF play, as well as in world friendlies, and eventually, the World Cup. 2026 is gonna be a HUGE year for the US. Clearly the best team we have had since Donovan was at the helm.
This is a great commentary, brother. I really appreciate your positive philosophy on both football and life. I’ll be watching more of your stuff. Hope you got over your cold
McKennie was the second red, when he was confronted by the Mexican field players and pushed toward the sideline and the bench player surrounded him (and ripped his kit), they said he put his hand on someone's face while trying to protect himself and was sent off...
The red to McKennie came for his hand to the face to MX #6 immediately after the foul... no sanctions were given for the scrum at the bench but several MX players should been at least yellow carded for surrounding him and ripping the shirt off.
@@donparkison4617 More than 4 - he had the entire Mexico sideline, plus their manager, plus a bunch of the players, all going after him. No cards for any of them.
Allegiant Stadium is a newer stadium in Las Vegas. It was built for the Raiders who moved from Oakland in 2020. The first year was the COVID year so they played in front of no fans. It has been used also for several soccer games.
It's in a central location and can pack a frick ton of people, so yeah, it's used for soccer. You know how big it can be. Crazy story tho, it is not going to be somewhere the WC will be played in 2026, though I support the choices that were made, minus DC. I'm not from there, I just think it's still weird. Whatever.
I'm a Las Vegas local, and was at this match. Allegiant Stadium is indeed a beautiful venue. It's soooo dissapointing that Allegiant will not be featured in the World Cup, and that an ugly, outdated stadium such as the one in Kansas City was selected.

I know it's no excuse, but I know Pulisic turns up for the US is because he's first hand witnessed the failures to do exactly that from the old USA natl. team guard, and he cherishes the brotherhood he has when he's playing along his countrymen who he grew up with in the academy or in that same age group. No excuses for Chelsea, but he wasn't going to exactly get that kind of group hug stuff there with how the club is rn (followed them since I was a kid back in the early, early 90's, so I know peak Chelsea). Maybe a different Chelsea and Pulisic would be the man, but he needs another club, but I know he's happiest when he's with his country. And, as a US supporter, I could care less if he is terrible at club but amazing at country rn. Gotta get the confidence somewhere and he's miles better than those who came before already. So much respect for him.
They didn’t play the full 12 minutes of added/extra time. The referee called the game early because the chanting had continued/resumed after the suspension.
Just watched your channel for the first time and am impressed by your unbiased opinions and observations. Just subscribed to your channel, you earned another sub due to your demeanor and honest takes on the game, teams, action and as a Chelsea fan since the days of "The King" Didier Drogba I appreciate your honest accessment of the state of the team and their treatment of Pulisic. This former San Diegan(64 yrs) now living in east Tennessee, have lived this USA-Mexico rivalry and it is a heated one that the US for the last few years has dominated despite the ineptness of USSF in rehiring Gregg Bershitter again. He will set us back I fear through bad roster choices, rigid tactics and formations and inability to adapt and play the best players at their best positions and give them the freedom to show their true talent. Blessings to you Sir and best wishes going forward in growing your channel, respect brother from Richard in the USA.
These highlights are WAY better than the English-language ones that were put up by CBS Sports Golazo. Also, if you think this match was toxic, you should see some of the World Cup qualifying scrapes they've gotten into at the Estadio Azteca, which is the home stadium of the Mexican national team.
The Mexico fans were chanting and screaming a word in Spanish That is a derogatory term for a gay man Every time our goalkeeper touched the ball once they were losing by two goals. You heard it twice in the video. When the play was stop briefly right before that you heard them scream the word very clearly, they did it again immediately before the final whistle. Five minutes were still left on the clock, but following CONCACAF policy The remainder of the game was canceled Once they did it a third time. This is not new. Mexico fans have been doing this for years and they’re trying to figure out a way to stop it. They also did it at the World Cup but nobody took action. Because it got to the point where the remainder of this game had to be canceled, Mexico are not allowed to have fans attend their next home game.
Honestly Mexico needs to be banned from the 2026 World Cup and a new policy put in place that every time that chant shows up in an international match involving Mexico they get banned from the next 2 years of international play even if that means they once again miss out on a World Cup. That's the only way to end the chant permanently. Make it so that the chant will end Mexico's opportunity to join in international futbol.
It’s so embarrassing for Mexico. Not only is their team terrible, but their fan’s behavior is consistently hateful and violent. Not sure how they can be proud of anything that happened in this game.
Look the chant was changed to Duro, similar sounding, it's not homophobic. The Mexican supporters group needs to figure something out or make an official news announcement, because right now they are silent.
@@TheNotoriousNemo I honestly couldn't care less that they chant it. So what. We are way too soft as a people. People talking about banning them from the WC... JMO but that's crazy. Like you said, it isn't even "homophobic" anyway but I wouldn't care either way. You can't regulate people into thinking the way you want them too. In general I mean lol not aiming that you Nemo.
The "puto" chant's meaning also might go over the head of some people who just think it means bitch. It's not so much like calling someone a coward, a wuss, or being disagreeable. They're using it more like f*gg** in the context of like a prison bitch or just a man who gets used by other men for sex. It'd be like if a UK crowd chanted f*gg** or rentboy every time the keeper kicked the ball.
False it’s us making fun of the keeper/other team, we’ve been doing this for years and it was never an issue until this soft ass generation took it that way
@@joshlanda1756 you kinda just made the point. Making fun of the keeper by using a term that implies they are a submissive homosexual. Fun. Just a joke. Weak ass. Read your own words, bro and see if you can figure out what the problem is.
The chant was not racist, it was homophobic It’s a Mexican chant and this happens almost every game but Concacaf and Fifa never do anything about it, they just pause the game for a bit. If you watch when Matt Turner kicks the ball off at the end and the Mexico fans in unison yell “Puto” That’s the chant that the game was stopped for.
It’s not homophobic…. People just take it that, Mexico fans have been doing this since I was little all it is is calling the keeper a bitch nothing more
The discriminatory chant has been a staple of the Mexico national team games for decades now. They’ve had to play matches behind closed doors because of it and they will not stop. The US/Mexico rivalry is almost as toxic as Brazil/Argentina. Mexico had owned the entire region for decades up until the 1990s, when the US decided to start playing soccer again. Now, Mexico 0-4-1 in competitive matches against the US since 2019 and has only 3 wins in competitive matches in the last 10 years. The US also put Mexico out of the 2002 World Cup in the round of 16. The hatred is real and Mexico’s golden generation is over while the US’s is just starting. It’s going to get even nastier.
Mexico has had a problem with the chant for a while. Concacaf has hit them with fines and empty home matches but that’s as far as they’ll go. To much money to be made from Mexico games in the states.
Dude if you watch what they were and how they were going at Sergio you would understand why he hopped bad they were going to hurt him out there if he didn't stick up for himself
Thanks for this man, great analysis and appreciate the positive thoughts towards the next WC. I’ll be tuning into more of your content. Cheers and subbed from Indiana
I'm only 2 and a half minutes into your video and I can already tell these highlights are much better than the CBS ones (they broadcasted the game) their highlights didn't show any action until the 22nd minute of gameplay and they edited the third goal so out of order in the highlights it was really weird. Okay heading back to your video!
The game reminds me a little of Brazil Germany I including many didn't expect Germany to have the best game in it'd history but after the 7th goal Brazil fans show respect by standing and applaud that got me choked up
The "discriminatory chanting" is a goal kick slur that for some reason the more Mexico fans are instructed not to do it, the louder they do it. And because it's CONCACAF and Mexico's fans bring in most of their money (even for matches vs. USA in the USA), it will never actually result in consequences.
It will when the US decides that they're no longer allowed to play their home games in the US. You can count on one hand how many times they've played against the US or any decent competition in Mexico in recent memory. They play in the US and always in the south because of the large Mexican population that will fill the stadium and pay in dollars instead of pesos. This continues and this unnecessary aggressive behavior they show when they realize that they're going to be tested beyond their expectations, the US will have to tell CONCACAF to keep them playing in Mexico. I guarantee you that lost Mexicans in the are not paying to go watch them play in Mexico, certainly not this shitty team. In recent times they've only gotten US Mexican fans in the stadiumm because it's not like a club season where you can see the team play all the time. There's nostalgia but remove that and they're not putting their dollars into this crap.
Because it’s not discriminatory it’s literally translates to bitch😂 it’s not discriminatory people just took it that way because everyone is soft, and the reason we keep doing it is because it’s our word it’s been done for years and it was never a problem until this soft ass cancel culture shit started and they wanted to take it like that
The reason mexico fans do it is because they are unhappy with the corrupt federation and seeing an effect makes them keep doing it because thats what they want- a reaction to let the fmf know that they are upset with the federation. The chant used to be said a lot when tata Martino coached but when changing coaches, the chant stopped but reappeared after 7 games from the new coach who really had now idea what he was doing. Now they fired him too because of fear that fans would no longer go to the games anymore
As an American who started getting into soccer a few months ago after having some nostalgia over playing when I was younger, its nice to have someone to break down stuff.
I appreciate your perspective and respect. I rarely hear a British give us in the states any credit. US players turn up for our national team because we give them love. In the club scene, they are always crapped on. Tough to turn out for fans that don't love and/or respect them.
British fans (as a generalization) are often shitty to good US players. Americans have to be *perfect* for their clubs, or the fans are all like "yeah, see, silly Americans don't know how to play" for things that even world-class players do sometimes. And it's a standard that is almost exclusively applied to American imports for some reason. (All of this is for games in the prem, not other contexts.)
Really appreciate the much older and mature Ochoa (goalie) stepping in at 18:19 and reprimanding his teammates because he knows they're being toxic and out of line. He even takes #6 away from everyone else towards the end too
clarification, this is the semi-final, not the final. Usually in our region they space out the countries so usually its mexico vs USA in the final after all the games shake out but lately Mexico has been struggling so we faced them in the semi and will be facing Canada in the final coming up.
They do nothing lol. Countries in our confederation are just getting better and better. It's crazy...so much MLS hate, but so much good has come from it....(I know USL and the CPL play are part into this, but they would not succeed if the top league wasn't thriving too). Been here in the bad years and seen how certain decisions have made it greater years. Gotta respect what is working. Not perfect, but it keeps evolving.
Subbed and you made the right call. TUDN has the best highlights in the Americas for footy/soccer. CBS Paramount and Fox Sports are trash. And yea this is the Raiders American Football stadium. It looks like the Death Star. Fun Fact every US/Mexico game ends with beer throwing, piss throwing, fights, and Discrimination warning/game over.
Mexico has been embarrassing themselves for the past couple of years and they won’t change either. There needs to be a point where FIFA suspends Mexico as a whole or any Mexican fans that attempt to purchase a ticket
Bro if FIFA had the audacity to host the last World Cup in a country where it’s illegal to be gay, what makes you think they actually care about anything 💀 Nothing homophobic in this context about that chant either
@@nothisispatrick1753 it like Chelsea player geting rentboy shouted at us or the scum of a united fan with the 97 shirt we all know which meaning you really want to use
What do you think of Folarin Balogun? He was the player that got kicked and then everything else went down. He recently switched from England to the States
He got the start, but Pepi looked like a better fit with Pulisic and Weah on the wings. Fans are hyped about Balogun, but with Reims he prefers to drift to the wing to receive the ball, and he can't really do that with the USMNT.
20:00 You may not be aware of the rule, but CONCACAF, because of Mexican homophobic chants, has had to create rules where matches can be abandoned in this case. And this is the first major Mexican National Team match where it finally has gone down.
This game really exposes how horrible CONCACAF truly is. Mexico used to be lights out best team in North America, now they get slapped around by the US and Canada, but the organization still treats them like royalty. Every Mexico red was matched by a U.S. red, and the Mexican player who was literally biting and ripping apart McKennie’s jersey wasn’t called for anything. And the fans aren’t any better. The minute they start losing they do the chant and it’s up to luck if the referee decides to stop the game. In this case he did, but it took a half of the game for him to actually do something about it. CONCACAF needs to fix something. This is 2023. This is unacceptable.
To be clear the discriminatory chants are from Mexican fans when the opposing goalkeeper does a goal kick. They essentially yell the word fa**ot at the goalkeeper in Spanish
Cool video man - Fyi the discriminatory chants were the mexican fans at the american gk every time he took a goalkick. Theyve been doing it decades, long history behind this issue. Love the vid overall 😁🙌
Thats what I’ve been saying, everybody takes it the wrong way even tho we’ve been doing it for years and it was never an issue before until this whole cancel culture stuff started to happen
Mexico is a beautiful country with beautiful people... they deserve a better team to represent them and a better group of fans to show up. Unfortunately, this is par for the course for them.

So there might be a deeper joke here I don't understand. But I think that's what is happening.
A bit more context on the Mexico discriminatory chant: It’s actually homophobic, not racist, and it’s a staple of theirs. FIFA and/or CONCACAF have punished the federation a couple dozen times for it at least and the fans still do it during opposing team goal kicks.
As a long-time, die-hard US fan, it's satisfying to see Mexico this low. For years we've dealt with El Tri diving and choking our players on the pitch and their fans throwing things like pee-filled balloons and homophobia in the stands. They deserve this.
Why Dest “”started”” the second big incident is because they don’t show in the highlights he got kicked in his gut to get the ball sent in to touch I believe and then after that 6 on MX was lipping off a little, they showed it in the replay of the Spanish channel but no highlights have shown it yet. Not saying the shove was warranted but it didn’t come quite out of nowhere as it seems
@@flacortwah he punched or slapped back the other player after getting the bad foul. He deserved that red lol (as well as the Mexican player) If he had just stayed calm, he would've been playing the final. Unfortunate
Berhalter gets a lot of flack for being an MLS coach, but he was here in the era of Tata at Atlanta United and his Columbus Crew always sliced United to pieces. His style is very much influenced by Tiki-taka, but he’s no Pep. The US talent is finally up to par. It really is nothing but upwards from here.
I'm a atl fan and I distinctly remember during the tata era excluding the one playoff game during our first year but the crew never beat atlanta when Tata was in charge. I think you may thinking about the time when De Boer was in charge.
IMO this USMNT looked better in this game under Callaghan than they did under Berhalter. How much of that do you think was because of Callaghan and/or the players, and how much of it do you think was because of Mexico just playing badly?
fun fact: Ricardo Pepi is a Mex-USA dual national who played for Mexico youth teams but eventually decided to make the switch. can't imagine that family reunion going well
Forgive them father is what perdonalos padre means. Maybe the fans should ask for it too that were behind the touch line. Bc that was a disgrace. And the homophobic chant. The ref lost control easily. Its pathetic what the ref did to give McKennie a red despite being the victim and never hitting back. Hope that ref gets suspended. Also the chant is by the mexican fans. No racism. Just homophobia. Thats why the mexican team has had to play closed door matches in WCQ
@gracielynn9623 I sure hope so! The ref lost control bc the Mexicans knew the ref wasn't gonna make it 10v11 or 10v9. That imo is when he lost the game. They knew they can keep the game dirty and have the US punished for it too. Bastards
Is true. I have been following pullistic since he was a kid, and the brother got so much skill and talent with a lot of miles in his tank. Pullistic is a superstar.
McKennie got sent off because in that scuffle, as 3-4 Mexican players were pushing him, McKennie at one point put his hands on someone's throat. Kinda of a crap ref decision.
Highly recommend watching the highlights from a US channel like CBS/Paramount. They show much mote of yhe scuffles which honestly shows how much more Mexico instigated the altercations.
fun fact, the game was stopped at the 97th minute rather than playing the full 12 minutes of extra time bc of mexicos goal kick chant. whenever their opponent has a goal kick, in the build up the yell "aaaaaa" until the goalie kicks it and then they yell "put0", which is pretty much f**got in spanish. thats why the match was stopped right before extra time, thats why they stopped the game early, that chant is also why they played those "united against discrimination" videos before every match at the 2018 world cup im half mexican, and i wear it proudly, but i wasnt proud that night
