I honestly think everyone is low key sleeping on Greece’s chances to win just because they are not used to Greece challenging and also because it is such a unique song. We should start opening the Athens 2025 conversation.
I think it's too messy for juries to like it that much. And I don't know if it's really a song that will shine live. Top ten maybe but I don't think this is a winner.
@Marzi29 the jury won't be crazy for Italy, Croatia or Netherlands either, which are audience favorites, the winner would need to be somewhere in between the jury and audience votes. Marina's vocals are top notch, I think she'll get most points from the audience and then some from the jury and has a good chance. But we never know until we see how it plays out could be wrong 🤷♀️
My expectations were high when Marina was announced as Greece's entrant, and boy have they been met! I watched the presentation of the song and I was immediately obsessed with this. It's absolutely fantastic! It has everything I would like to see from Greece, so much style and attitude, so creative and interesting, catchy, thumpy, so Greek! I love it. 🇳🇱❤️🇬🇷
@@ESCTomI always try my best to keep things interesting 😊. But it's true: I loved what I saw from Marina when she was announced. So happy with this, and happy that you're excited about it as well! I see loads of people here commenting that they're obsessed with this; I know exactly what they mean.
@@mpam002 I didn't know her, she's not known here. But when she was announced I looked up her previous songs and really liked them, so I had high hopes that she would give us something good!
Now this is what my home country should be sending to ESC! Marina Satti is a wonderful unique artist that deserves recognition! Let's hope for a great result in may! Good luck Greece
Greece is my second place, right below Italy. I am OBSESSED with Southern women this year, Portugal is also in my top 5!! It's Joost and Southern Europeans for me lmao.
Absolutely obsessed with Greece this year 🤍💙Another non english song of which im gonna HAVE to learn the lyrics, oop. 7:55 lmao the shade there, i saw that😭
20 seconds in I was already OBSESSED. This is my second place after Italy but I could even see it overtaking Angelina before May. I absolutely LOVE the beat, the instrumental feels very Balkan and makes me want to dance, her voice is chilling in the singing parts, the music video is my favourite of the year. 10/10!!
Well said !!! I am half greek and this is the 1st time that we see something original in strategy that comes to Eurovision . Marina is the only artist in greek music industry who is iconic !! Trust me
Well this was fun! I feel like every year I like more of the songs presenting own culture with modern vibe. And I absolutely live the video, like bird watching people going about their life. Well done Greece 😍
i'm from greece and it's the first time that i've been excited for one of our entries since 2013, because it actually feels greek! this song has so many different-sounding parts, but they're all extremely, extremely greek-sounding in their own way, and it comes back to what marina said in an interview. when asked about not including english in her song, she said that her approach to eurovision has been to "come as you are" and i love that! it's also a massive hit in greece and i'm just glad that we finally care for one of our entries
This song slaps so hard in studio cut and Marina said it's meant to be written for the stage. I think we might have a dark horse for the win or at least a top 3 this year there!
She is the winner ! She has the whole package!! Go for the win Marina! Lovely bridging different cultural elements! So happy to listen to something so different! 🎉
The creative director of this, Fokas Evangelinos, was in charge of My Number One, You Are the Only One and Scream and the top 2 in 2008, Believe and Shady Lady, so I have massive faith in how wow the staging is gonna be. Definitely psyched for this one in Malmö!
❤🎲 marina hired for esc the choreographer of Rosalia that did the motomami tour mecnun giasar as we know the staging will be global level .Marina is famous in Greece they asked her 3 times before to go to esc and she said no she agreed this year to go just with the team she wanted 😂 glad u liked her ❤
This is pretty incredible. I know others will fairly reference Rosalia as a slightly similar vibe. But tbh I've never known anyone to achieve the execution of this style like Rosalia before, and I think Marina definitely has!
Rosalia kann von Marina noch viel lernen, hören sie wie Marina ohne Mikrofon Oper singt, oder schauen si e alte Musikvideo von ihr, sie macht diese Musik schon sehr lange
Marina is preparing choreography with Mencun Giasar who choreographed Rosalia, Madonna (Celebration Tour) and most recently Loreen to present her song “Is it Love” I think in a big show on German TV. So this is going to have a very epic dance routine (I dare to say equivalent to Slow-Mo but even more current). So I think it will rocket to the top 5 after the first dress rehearsal.
The flame lyric + rolling of the dice made me think of like stop, drop and roll... like the chance of the rolling of the dice feels like a saving of herself (coming from somebody with self destructive tendencies). No clue if im making things up for the fun of it tho haha Love to Greece from the Netherlands
this reminds me of Rosalía in the best possible way! it so effortlessly marries traditional and modern and brings so much oomph. i have loves Marina Satti's other songs as well. these kinds of entries are why i listen to Eurovision - to find new, cool artists all over Europe!
@@kostaspapagelis3981bro i'm making the comparison based on what the song (positively) reminds me of as someone from Finland who has never in their life even heard of Marina Satti before ESC 2024. you'd think people would be happy that she's gaining new fans.
Greece has managed to hide a nuke in a nutshell this year. The live performance will blow them all to pieces. There's obvious song pieces missing from the video. If they do what I expect them to do the visual and audio experience is going to be simply majestic.Marina said this was written as a stage song.Noone but the team has seen it on stage. They're pulling a sneaky one with the video but the video itself is so well produced and such an enjoyment that we missed it.
I love her, Ladaniva, Bambie, Joost, the Norway entry, Estonia, Portugal.. Italy, Ukraine...I just don't get it when folks put generic pop-ish dull songs in front of them. I jusr feel this is what Euro feel should be. Super quality but also cultural and fresh. Like Angelina Mango is more main stream but one can see and feel Italian in it or Nemo...not Swiss per se but so original.
My first expressions after hearing the song for the first time were: ''WHAT THE F***'' But in a good way I really like it. I just never expected something like that from Greece
I'm so happy to hear the Greek language ! Dah Dah DahDah is in my head since this song came out 😅 So many of my favorite songs are all in semi 2, plus my own nation is in there too, it's getting really tense !
This is a return to form for me - really didn't care for Last Dance nor Die Together. Nor that one from last year that I forgot... Enjoyed the Jendrik shade too! 💅
no i dont, i thought about it, but honestly you have to be SO meticulous in the boardgame creator community because everyone is so pedantic. Also i played mostly while i was in Shanghai where i had a core group and I left there now and dont have a group anymore
@@ESCTom Ahs orry to hear though, hopefully one day you can get a new group over here! I'd definitely watch your board game content if you ever did it! I think you're right about people being picky, but at least while peoples channels are small/growing you get a lot more freedom. Plus you would get free board games!
It’s an untraditional, but cool song and supported by a singer with amazing presence, performance, and voice. The rhythm of the song is strong and original. The more you hear it the more you like its rhythm. Best of luck to Greece. Regardless of the contest outcome this song will be a summer hit this year. I already see all Greek islands echoing to this song and its unbeatable rhythm…. Come on, put your hands up …….Ta-ta-ta-ta-ta…🏅
The issue with Greece is you either get it immediately or it takes like 10 listens (I fell in the latter), so I'm not sure how well it will do in a televote-only semifinal where most people need to decide whether or not they will vote for it after only one listen.
this is one of the songs i wanna hear daily! but when i watched the music video for the first time it felt like i had some virus on my computer 😂 love the part where she is sitting on a car, and the camera is slowly zooming out. i totally agree with you tho that i would like to see something edgy on stage!
A sophisticated intended mess, one of the most original and intelligent songs in whole ESC, an immaculate production, multilayered style. People who DO KNOW music, will vote Zari.
Greatly appreciated insight as always. Personally I didn't get the song at first but later I adored the unanticipated , fun and unpredictable build up unaligned with broader tendancies. A well thought out chaos just like deconstructivism BTW she is a soprano singer
I really love the ending of this song. The male chorus in the background really hit for me and elevate the song. If it wasn't such a strong year this would be in my top 10 😂
I disagree with you on the hook. I think the ‘ta, ta, ta’ is very catchy, IMO, and I think the arena will love it too. I think that with a lot of rocky and electronic crazy songs, I think that this could pull off a surprise win. It will depend on how they could do with the juries. Your videos are always so wonderful. Thank you!
I am so happy we are not predictable to you 😋 I mean in a good way , because i value your opinion 😉 I am so proud of our representation this year ! Staging is heard, here in Greece , that it's gonna be something unique 😮 ... more risks on the way 😎 💥 🥇
Some extra info from a greek about some things you touched on the video: * The sound in the song that sounds like reggaeton is not really reggaeton! It is a very similar greek sound called Syrtos! Marina even posted a story comparing this part of the track with a old traditional Greek song with the caption "We got reggaeton in the village. The reggaeton in the village:" * She will be dancing in Malmö! I think she will have male dancers and the choreographer is Majnoon who a Pomak from thrace and he has worked with a loy of famous people including Rosalia, Madonna, Loreen, Mahmood etc. *The staging is going to be dsigned from Phokas together sith Marina. Phokas has done in the oast famous stagings like Helena Paparizou, Saki Rouvas, Dima Bilan, but even more recently both of Sergey's Lazarev's perfomances, Stefania's and Amanda's. Also it has been talk that he has found a big prop that "binds the perfomance together" .
Bless you for being so concise with all the important info!! The way my jaw dropped when she told us we have reggaeton at home 😂 I think that was a big f you to the Greek haters that keep whining that “there’s nothing Greek about the song” as if taking traditional and making avant-grade experimental music isn’t her whole thing!
Marina has said that zari (dice) also is a title that describes the song itself - it could do amazing or it could not work, it's a risk but she wants to see what the dice gets her
Marina is very special, she rarely misses a step, and her song gives me Tamta vibes. The part with the car reminds me of Tamta's song Identity Crisis (off her brilliant recent album - a must listen). Nevertheless, Zari is distinctly Marina Satti. I hope they nail the staging for my motherland. Come on, Greece!
