My friends and I visit Machu Picchu which was awe-inspiring. Seeing Machu Picchu in pictures and videos throughout my childhood did not prepare me for seeing it in person and learning about the history behind its construction and use. We also hiked up Vinicunca, or Rainbow Mountain, otherwise known as Montana de Siete Colores (Mountain of 7 Colors). It was raining and hailing as we hiked up but seeing the alpacas and llamas on the mountain along with the indigenous Andean people was a beautiful experience. We also tried out Chinese Peruvian food and I visited Coricancha (a former Inca temple turned Spanish cathedral now converted to a museum) was the perfect way to end our trip in Peru.
