@@Wild-Siberia My daughter says she saves about $100 to $150 a month with her garden and small orchard. 20x20 m and a hot house 3m by 15. She preserves a lot of it. 4 people in her family. It's a lot of work but it's all hands on deck on weekends for weeding and canning. She used willow poles on the arches of the green house strapped together with zip ties. She bought the 3 mil plastic sheeting. Didn't cost much for the greenhoUse. Just some pointers.

It’s so satisfying to grow food. I have a sign in my kitchen that says growing tomatoes is cheaper than going to therapy. Sometimes when I am working in my garden it really takes my mind off of difficulties going on in my life. I love working in my vegetable and flower garden! Take care and keep the videos coming! Ксения, позвольте маленький полезный совет. На дно миски с салатом нарезайте укроп ( или другую зелень) и зелёный лук. Посыпайте тем количеством соли, что вы выбрали для обьема всего салата и потрите ложкой , так, что бы соль проявила зелёный сок из укропчика и лука. А потом будете резать остальные овощи. Поверьте, будет вкуснее и ароматнее на порядок, когда все перемешаете.

@@Wild-Siberia you need to start with seedlings... the best to grow your own seedlings, but to begin with you may purchase seedligs - tomatoes, red peppers, broccoly, pampkin - all have to be planted there via seedlings late May or at the beginning of June
я запах свеженарезанного домашнего укропа через монитор почувствовал. В детстве у бабушки в деревне такой салат это основное блюдо было. Только ещё картошки отварной добавляли и лука зеленого. А вместо майонеза домашние сливки, либо подсолнечное масло.
Gosh how everything grows there, today I eat boiled home grown little potatoes, chards and sausages, but instead of sour cream with mayonnaise. I forgot, kitchen grown parsley. 😊😊😋😋
I had a vege garden and out of about a 1 sqm plot that I planted I got 4 kilos of potatoes that I was eating for 2 months and the last ones I ate were still crisp (kept in the fridge crisper).
Im russian myself, from Siberia, living in Canada. My parents have garden and i used to do garden work helping my parents. Miss that and would like to do gardening one day here in Canada. You guys are awesome!!!! ❤
@@KittyinBaikal Haha, maybe so! I always suffered from sun rash as a kid. Until my brother and I went to the mediteranean coast of France. We stayed on the beach (and in the water) for hours and hours- without sun screen. We both got severely sun burned of course. But after that trip, I never had sun rash again. 😯
Even though you have a short growing season an idea you might consider here is attempting to grow some of these items indoors with grow lights. Use the heat from the grow lights to heat your home in part. You can setup the lights on a light timer and use a timer for water or irrigation. Would also provide humidity for the home as well.
Your garden is beautiful, guys. Dan, the purple radishes make the best pickled vegetables I've ever tried. Xenia, I have destroyed every dish to which I've added dill, so I don't cook with it, but the babushka who cooks at the Russian mini market puts it on everything and I've never eaten a bad dish from her kitchen.
If different varieties of radish are available, here are a few that I reccomend, Malaga (purple), German Giant, and French Breakfast. Slice them about 1/4 inch, drizzle in olive oil, and bake about 20-25 minutes at 175C (350F).
Брокколи - да, но лучше через рассаду. Брюссельскую не успеют, коротковато лето ( впрочем, если рассаду под укрытие высадить в конце мая и выбрать самый скороспелый гибрид, может и успеет вырасти - все-же в Слюдянке свой локальный микроклимат чуть потеплей среднего по Восточной Сибири. )
I think you just ate more radishes in one meal than I do for an entire year. LOL. But now I'm looking into planting them here next season. I want to pickle them for vodka snacks !!
We make radish salad (in Romania) with cucumber, radish and spring onion but we don’t use heavy dressing (like mayo or sour cream), just oil and vinegar salad dressing, at least in my region. We already got the potatoes, radish and baby carrots for the year but veggies aren’t doing great because of the heat wave and lack of rain, yours look better.🙂

Обязательно посадите облепиху, вишню, яблони, можно сливу помесь с абрикосом, ягоды, крыжовник, малину, жимолость, клубнику, на грядках морковку, свеклу, ну и более сложные помидоры огурцы и перец. И купите шланг и автоматическую поливалку осциляторную. Очень помогает в поливе. И за всем за этим не сложно ухаживать. Главное - убрать лишние особо крупные сорняки
Wish you two the best. I spent 3 tours in Vietnam and 3.5 years in Central America and got married to a woman I met overseas and have been married to her for 51 years. I don’t know anything about living in Russia but I pray the world situation will remain stable and that everything works out for you. The one thing to remember is that most countries don’t have an adequate safety net for their elderly and Russia is one of them. Plan ahead and have a plan B for hard times or when you get old. I have friends who didn’t and aren’t making it on social security here in the States. Wish you both the best.

Попробуйте редис просто резать пополам. Половинки мажте (не жирно) сливочным маслом. Немного присолите и получится очень вкусно. А простейший салат это: помидоры + огурцы + укроп + лук + сметана (не забудьте посолить по вкусу) Но только пожалуйста добавляйте сметану а не майонез)))) Майонез не сочетается с салатом описанным выше)))

И для усиления вкуса, начинайте резать салат с зелени, потом посолить, постепенно добавляя остальные ингредиенты. Даже можно немного размять толкушкой для пюре всю зелень в миске. Аромат будет неописуемый. Приятного аппетита!
В продаже есть готовые приправы для корейской моркови. Есть и для огурцов и ещё всякие разные. Купите для редиса, попробуюйте. Они в меру острые. Вам должно понравиться :)
Fresh dill is amazing! Here in the US (Kentucky), our garden was stunted for some reason. We did harvest dill and 1 banana pepper. Nothing else! It's so strange. 😢
You are very blessed to have such fertile soil! You have no idea how hard it is to try and grow a garden where I live. It is a battle just to get a few things. A lot of it dies before it has a chance to get very big, like the zucchini.
I make my dressing from Greek yogurt and vinegar and sugar ..with lemon juice and crushed garlic make it in a glass canning jars and keep it in the refrigerator for months it's simple
Ксюшенька ! Зелёный лук можно вообще в кружках с водой выращивать. Через 2-3 недели можно уже урожай собирать. Только ставьте кружки или стаканы на солнечную сторону.
This looks nice. I make salad with boiled potatoes, onions, celery and mayonnaise. Or coleslaw with grated carrot, cabbage ,onion, celery and mayonnaise. I add grapes or sultanas to some salads. Or a little spice, I like to experiment with flavours. Hope you have a good crop this year. I hear that Rostov has a 38% drop in the grain crop.I make various dressing with olive oils.
