Nice flying, just a heads up, I noticed you could spin the patch antenna easily. There is a washer under the locking nut that holds the rp-sma connector. You want to remove that for the antennas to connect properly. That may help improve your signal.
Yes, I removed those washers and have a tight connection now. Quick test through my apartment didn't show much improvement, but I hope it will in flight. 🤞
@@BaldmanFPV also from what I've read it's important to have the number 3 antenna getting signal to/from the quad as it's the only one that sends telemetry, i believe it's the one that you have your stubby patch so just make sure you have that pointed at the quad as much as possible. I stopped the video before your flying to write this, now back to the video, I know it's going to be a nice rip from ya!
yeah i think the telemetry has something to do with when it goes into focus mode, as you notice your antenna 3 is almost faced in the opposite direction when your flying on your left-hand side, would be interested to see you switch the two patch locations so you can better point number 3 at the quad
@@BaldmanFPV I recommend changing the patches to be on the bottom and omni's on top. You want max receiving gain on the receivers but have a omni if you are not doing long range on the TX (top left if looking at lens).
i still fly analog , i learned not to buy new stuff. let it go a few yrs so all the bugs get worked out. its too much money to spend to be a test subject imo. would love to try a digital system but where i live i think im the only person in the county that even flies fpv. and im no where near any city.... the systems may work fine out in the massive fields. not to mention being old and flying fpv in the 80's as a job . using tv , i giggle about the cries of latentcy and video . wish the tech was around when i worked doing fpv. analog today is HD compared too then lol

Great video! Ive been planning on switching from DJI V1 and vistas to goggles X and the new VTXs. I can say that the focus mode that I saw from your DVR looks a lot better than DJI. Sometimes I don't notice focus mode when I'm in the "Flowstate", I think the more noticeable focus mode on the Walk snail system is better.

Thanks for the vid Baldman, great flying.I fly V1, never used DJI came from analog. I have the vrx and goggles since original preorder and they have been pretty reliable. Im actualy glad i didnt get the X. All 5 VTX still work including a 1s on a tiny trainer. Im glad i got WS but seeing all the problems with X ill just stay with V1.
I’ve got a set of dominators, took me a bit to get used to them for sure. But now that I have been using them more, especially right now I have walksnail on my tiny whoops. But the 5” I do have with walksnail is pretty solid. I think I am kinda in a similar boat as you, things I really like and a couple things I wish were a little different but in the end I like my walksnail quads.
Nice Video. I have nothing again any System, i nearly tested them all. But that is the first time seeing Goggles X, looks to me like the Old Dji System with that strong Focus Mode kicking in. Also the Antenna setup looks a bit from the past with all that stuff on the Goggles... I not gone say what i fly, but i know why they compare to it...
I fly hdzero, but recently tried the 03 on the goggles 2, it was pretty amazing with the detail. I'd love to try the new walksnail goggles and see if it's the good balance between responsiveness and image quality.
I use race mode all the time. it limits resolution, but speeds up the link and improves the penetration. I like the way that walksnail gets blocky more than the static of analog or the flashy rainbows that HDzero gives. not sure the googles x are worth it yet... maybe in another year when it's perfected. I would never use a DJI product, they tell on you to the ffa, and it has to be registered to the owners name and address. the 03 is also the heaviest and most power hungry of the VTX options.
your transmitting patch is pointing straight up from what I see, you might want to point it at 45° towards! I'm waiting to get mine and I hope they don't suck!
I started out with DJI O2, then switched to HDZERO, then started flying analog. Maybe I'm kinda backwards but I like how you get live video on analog. When the latency is consistent I just feel like I can fly more crazy and be confident. You still flying analog? How would you compare the penetration of walksnail to the reaper extreme vtx?
@@BaldmanFPV Googled around for that now and seems to be horrendous, but that's just what people in forums say. And apparently no DVR either, so you'd have to rig something up just to show us. That doesn't bode well, in the words of a certain sorcerer.

Have you tried the V1 WS goggles @Baldman? Still rocking them, they don't have the issues the gogglesX have. Somehow the range seems better around buildings compared to what you experience with the gogglesX. I can fly at 500mw and get the same range and penetration as the pilot next to me on higher MW. This is with the v1 goggles and truerc stubbies. I use Lollipop 4+ antennas on my quads. Focus mode off.
I've been digging walksnail lately. I was hesitant for a while with all the negatives I heard. Went from analog to dji, then hdzero. I missed the penetration of dji, but something about their system really makes me nauseous. Went ahead and bought the dominators on sale, and I really like the system. The video just feels super smooth. At times, I can feel the latency, but it really isn't that bad, and I mostly can't tell. Better penetration than hdzero with a smaller sacrifice to latency than dji. For me, it's right in that sweet spot for what I want out of a system.

I find focus mode to throw me off more than the image getting mushy. Maybe I need to try it more… and I haven’t flown much in places like this but I wouldn’t complain about that range and penetration. Then again, I don’t know better.
im a newbie bro been stalking fpv a while now, impressed and inspired good flying bro 👍,, im buying cheapest possible pro Kit already: dji goggles v2 I'm set on for solid penetration, temted on walksnail X ? Explorer l4 drone sub250 - for uk legalities & long flights tango 2 or elrs pocket radio ? any advice anyone can offer on my choices would be appreciated. im lil bit indecisive tbh haha
I don't know much about either radio because I still fly an old QX7. I would go with the a Boxer to be safe. 03 is still a great choice, just going to cost more.
I think one patch antenna is enough for these glasses. they have three receivers and one transmitter. you probably wont put a patch on the transmitter, if you put two patches on the receivers you will be left with one receiver with an omni-directional antenna. it is more logical to have two omni-directional antennas and one directional antenna on receive side.

Vistas have been out for years and yet we have "new" systems that are no where near as good . Best combo I have found is the V1 or V2 goggles running iflight crystal with a vista . DJI goggles 2 with a vista ,less penetration in bandos. Walkfail and HDzero ,you are wasting your money and time with "updates" every 5 minutes. Nice flying man 👍

@@Voidroamer Believe it or not there actually is a good enough latency for me 25-30 tops. But walksnail down goggle is surely a much better image than what HDZero even seems.
The DJI Goggles 2 have the same exact LCD screens ,,, The Goggles 2 (NOT THE GOGGLES V2) will have the same exact latency except far far better range .. also the vista with the Goggles 2 are pre set to 120fps thats why you have a little stutter with the vista and goggles 2 and latency issues , ,, if you run the 03 unit at 120fps with the goggles 2 you get that same stutter as with the vista but the 100fps on the 03 unit and Goggles 2 is perfect hardly any latency / thats why Vanover has switched to all 03 units and Goggles 2 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-is9uEJCqhVo.html / also the Goggles 2 you can stream movies via wifi hmmmmmmm
I thought the same thing but all the latency charts show Walksnail ahead than the O3. I actually have yet to try the O3 with the goggles 2 in real life. 🤔
you have to get the goggles 2 ,, its so incredible the latency and blob in the middle is completely gone ,, bend the edges of the original face plate and they will fit perfect ,,@@BaldmanFPV
