In this video I will be talking about tulip care after they are done blooming. Come say Hi! Instagram: / ydoyougarden Facebook: / ydoyougarden Mailing / Packages Address Y Garden / Yuliya PO Box 1758, Montclair NJ 07042
My wife and I went a bit overboard last year when Costco was selling various bags of bulbs. I planted over 300 last fall. So nice to see them coming up right now. I attempted to make some nice rows of colors that I remember from the public gardens in downtown Boston. Zone 6a btw.
Thanks for your help. My flowers are turning yellow I thought they were drying. I have them planted in a pot. Do I just keep the bulbs in the pot till next spring?
So glad I found this. My daughter got me a pot of tulips for my birthday. I have never tried to grow them before. After watching your video I will try growing them outside. Thank you
I loved how quick this video was while giving a lot of great info. Bonemeal and when to fertilize and I absolutely loved the golf tee marker tip. My men break so many so now I can repurpose them.
Hey thank you for video... I'm working in tulip factory and I can give you some sort names of tulip sorts that are super beautiful like flash pont, columbus, verona, marie joe, largo, blue diamond, world bowl they are just some of them which are blooming like pheonies and we call the double sorts since they have such a massive bloom...
Thank you Yuliya for this very helpful video! I planted tulip bulbs for the first time last fall and I am enjoying them this spring (2024) more that I even thought I would. Now I know what to do after they are done blooming. Thank you again for your pleasant and informative presentation.
Great video! It was like a visit with a friend at her garden - showing us her favorite tulips while giving us all the information we need. Love it, and thanks!
Thank you so much for this information about tulips. I can now explain this to my mom since she’s getting tulips as part of her Mother’s Day gift and she loves flowers. Again thank you 🙏🏼
Love this video! Very informative. Tulips are my fav flower, and my husband gets me some potted tulips every year for Mother's Day; this year planning to save the bulbs!
Mine come back year after year and I don't do anything to them, but i want to take better care of them this year so they can produce more. I took better care of my glads and they have given me, for the first time, beautiful blooms😊...i live in the Netherlands
Thank you so so much for this video. I bought some very bright, orange, striped tulips like your pink ones in this video and they are on their way out and I wanted to know what to do. Thank you again!
Hi My name it Tom from Canada I Liked you information on Tulips and how to grow them. YES I do love the Foxtrot THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL, I have water melon tulip THANKS FOR SHARING # May GOOD HEALTH and CLARITY of MIND be your COMPANION through Life
Thank you! I got my first tulips in a raffle and I've never had these before. We live in an apartment so my bulb is in a ceramic pot. They hadn't bloomed so they were just large leaves all summer long. I didn't know what to do with them for the winter but after watching this, I think I'm going to replant it in a plastic container with some fertilizer and snip the leaves as they yellow.
Thank you for this! I just bought a pot of tulips that are ready to bloom & they still have their bulb. I usually just toss it out after they bloom, didn’t know tulips multiply and grow back every spring
Thank you for the detailed info. Just one question about watering. Do you water your tulips or any bulbs after they finish blooming? Do they get root rod? Thanks again for the great video and your beautiful bulbs tour!
Thank you for the info first time having tulips got them at Wal-Mart they had bloomed already they are in water I wonder if I can save them I mean plant them in dirt thank you your tulips are beautiful they do look like peonies there so fluffy God bless have a blessed day
Beautiful garden and lovely info 🥰😍😘❤. I'm growing them for first time .so need to know precisely what must I do ....should I add ferts when they being placed in the pot ? How how often I water ?
Thanks for your info. This is my first year planting tulips in zone 8a, almost 7b. I hope it gets cold enough for them over the winter to come back and bloom next year.
This was great information! Tulips are so expensive and I'm glad to know that they will come back following your method. I wasn't aware of this. I'm in Texas Zone 9 and to my surprise my tulips have bloomed beautifully and weathered the winter storm here. Is it too late to fertilize with bone meal if almost all are already bloomed?
Your tulips are beautiful! I'm in zone 6 too in RI and struggle with tulips since the deer eat the buds and the squirrels dig up the bulbs. I've learned to plant hyacinths next to them to camouflage the scent. Any tips on keeping squirrels from digging up bulbs?
I have a huge problem with deer, rabbits and squirrels. I have to spray every spring with Harris New Natural Deer & Rabbit repellant. It really works for me and smells amazing. You can also try cayenne pepper. Good luck!
Lots of good information in this video. Planted tulips in a pot last fall, kept them in the garage over the winter, watered them and they are drop dead gorgeous. I'm assuming the info you shared is applicable to tulips in a pot as well. Will give it a try. Thanks again.
Thank you for explaining the process simple. Your tulips are gorgeous. I live in Florida and I'm trying out tulips for the first time this year so I have bought some and the tulip bud died fast. And the foliage is light green to yellow with the tips burnt. I moved it from full sun because I think that is what caused it. What I don't understand is why mines can't tolerate heat when I see tulips in gardens with full sun. What am I doing wrong?
I've always let the seed pods fully mature, being told the enzyme production in the pod is better for the bulb. I understand what you're saying about the energy usage in creating the seeds/pod. I hope I haven't been doing it wrong the whole time! Next year I'm going to try your method on some of my bulbs. Thanks for the info, the Fox Trots are beautiful!
Great idea for marking tulips location! I planted last fall and didnt mark them and dont remember precisely where. Ahhh!😜 thanks for the tip about fertilizing. Never knew I needed to fertilize them. When you take off spent blooms do you leave the stem as well til it yellows?
Great info Thanks, I had a similar tulip as the fox trout this yr, but mine didn't change color, I'll be looking for those this fall, I bought a bunch of bulbs cheap on sale at walmart last fall, I was so Pleased with all of them this spring.
So right, I was breaking off the head and I ended up pulling the whole thing out, it was A learning experience for me to see all the nice strong roots, I planted it back, but I am thinking of adding more next time around
I live in Las Vegas and our summers get into the 110° and higher from I would say June through September. I want to know if I should take the bulbs and put them in a brown paper bag in the refrigerator or in a closet? Your garden is gorgeous and I want my tulips to grow up big and tall like yours😊😁
Thank you for doing this video! going out now to cut off the flower part! good thing i watched might have just cut them down to begin with but only tips now! happy planting!
Day lilies ARE something you can pull the dead leaves off of after they have fully died. Make sure that the old flower stem and leaves are completely dead or you may yank out some of the plant along with the spent stems and leaves. Give it a short (fast) hard pull and it will be much prettier in the garden. This also helps to keep the plants from giving energy to dead leaves and your plants will grow bigger and healthier the following season. Fall is also a great time for a little yank on iris leaves too, and watch how grateful your plants are next year! 🙏 We don't pronounce the "i" in foliage we say fo-lage. Love those tulips peonies, step back and admire your tulip friends!
Thank you very much for you video. It is very clear. Do I need to water the tulips when the ground is dry before the foliage becomes yellow? Thanks a lot.
Hi! Summers are hot (excruciating) & pretty dry in S. Louisiana (Zones 9 a&b). I bought blooming tulips a few mths ago: 1) Can the bulbs lie dormant in the original planters/soil (8 in diameter X 2 in height)? 2) Do I water/fertilize bulbs during dormancy? (I will buy blood meal) 3) Which resources for bulb info have been most useful to you? Thank you so much, Monique
Thank you so informative.. so do I just cut the flower part off when they are spent / dead unattractive looking… do I leave the steam? Do I save the stuff I cut off to plant and when do I plant them if I can?
Thanks for your instructions for tulips. My husband and I are just getting into more landscaping with flowering trees and with bulbs (we're in our early- to mid-70s). Can the bulbs just be left in the ground over the winter, after deadheading and cutting back and adding some fertilizer? Do they have to be removed? It seems at my family of origin's house, they grew every year, but my mother didn't do anything special to them.
Hello! Great video! I would like to know if I am able to move the tulips to another area of my garden because I want to plant other things. How can I do that?
